Shipping company from Makkah to Oman: crossing the Arabian Peninsula
The trip from Makkah to Oman is one of the long runs on this route, crossing the Arabian Peninsula from west to east. The truck leaves Makkah on the Makkah–Riyadh expressway, via Taif or the northern road depending on the load, reaches Riyadh and continues south-east through Al Kharj to Haradh, then takes the Shaybah road to the Empty Quarter crossing. After export formalities it enters Oman at Ramlat Khaylah and heads on to Ibri, Nizwa and Muscat.
Because of the distance, Makkah shipments usually move in two stages. Boxes and single rooms are consolidated at our Makkah or Jeddah warehouse, then join an Oman-bound load from Riyadh, so you pay only for your share of the space. Full houses, villas and commercial loads travel on a dedicated truck from your door to your address in Oman with no intermediate unloading, which means less handling and better protection for your furniture.
Why we do not use the UAE route
Some shipments from western Saudi Arabia go to Al Batha, then Ghuwaifat, and cross the UAE in transit to reach Oman. That adds a lot of distance, clearance in a third country, transit papers and fees. The direct Empty Quarter crossing shortens the journey and keeps the shipment under one clearance on each side, which is why we use it for Makkah cargo despite the long run from the west.
What makes Makkah shipments different?
Makkah is home to many families and expatriate workers, including Omanis working in hospitality, education and healthcare, as well as Umrah and Hajj pilgrims who buy more gifts than they can carry on the plane. So every day we receive bags and boxes full of rugs, copies of the Quran, prayer mats, perfumes, oud, bakhoor and ihram clothing. We also move apartment and house furniture from Al Aziziyah, Al Shawqiyah, Al Awali, Al Zahir, Al Naseem, Kudai and Al Sharaye, and hotel and restaurant fittings during refurbishments or relocations.
Bags and boxes at per-kilo rates.
Packing that prevents leaks and heat damage.
Dismantling, packing and assembly in Oman.
Dedicated trucks for large quantities.
Shipping prices from Makkah to Oman
Our starting prices are the same in every Saudi city, but Makkah is far from the border, so dedicated trucks can cost more with the extra distance, as can delivery to Salalah and Dhofar. The itemised quote after the survey confirms the final price line by line, and it does not change after agreement unless the shipment itself changes.

How the cost is calculated
We start from the volume or weight, then the services: do you want dismantling, packing and assembly, or will you hand over ready-packed boxes? Then the shipping type: shared, which costs less for small quantities, or dedicated, which is faster and better suited to a full house. Finally, the delivery city in Oman. For air freight we charge the higher of actual and volumetric weight, where volumetric weight = L × W × H ÷ 6000.
An Al Aziziyah example: a pilgrim sending three 25 kg bags to family in Nizwa starts from SAR 495 for all three in shared shipping.
Ways to cut the cost from Makkah
- Pack family gifts into a few large boxes instead of many small parcels.
- Ship single rooms in the shared load via Riyadh.
- Book after Hajj and Ramadan if your shipment is not urgent.
- Sell large old appliances rather than moving them more than two thousand kilometres.

Furniture moving from Makkah to Oman
The long run from Makkah means many hours of vibration on highways and desert roads, so we pack furniture to a higher standard than for a local move. The crew surveys and lists the items, dismantles beds, wardrobes and tables and numbers their parts, then wraps each piece in blankets, bubble wrap and heavy cardboard. Many Makkah buildings lack wide lifts, so we use ropes and a hoist when needed to lower large pieces safely from upper floors.
Bedrooms, kitchens and majlis seating
Bedroom sets are fully dismantled and mirrors protected with wooden frames. Kitchen units are taken down and numbered, and fridges and washing machines are emptied and dried the day before loading. Majlis seating and sofas are wrapped in fabric and then plastic film, and rugs are rolled on tubes so they do not crease.
Antiques, office and hotel furniture
Antiques, ornaments, chandeliers and glassware are packed in padded crates, and insurance can be added for valuable items on request. We also move office, company and small-hotel furniture, numbering every unit so it is set up in the same order in Oman.
Delivery and assembly in Oman
On arrival the team unloads, places items in their rooms, assembles beds, wardrobes and kitchens and removes the packing waste. If your home is not ready yet, we store the furniture until the delivery date.

Perfumes and dates: protection from the road’s heat
Perfumes, oud oil and bakhoor from Makkah are among the most common items sent to Oman, along with dates bought by pilgrims. The road is long and crosses hot desert, and we do not use refrigerated trucks, so we protect these shipments with insulated packing in reinforced cartons with a foam layer, place them in the middle of the truck away from the roof and doors, and load them last so they come off first. Perfume bottles are sealed tightly and stood upright in padded cases, and dates travel packed and sealed. For premium perfumes that need to arrive faster, air freight is a good option.
Commercial cargo from Makkah: allowed and prohibited
From Makkah we ship clothing, fabrics, rugs, religious supplies, gifts, packaged food and household goods. Partial loads or pallets start from SAR 890 per tonne, and a dedicated truck from SAR 4,190. We do not accept flammables, gas cylinders, loose batteries, medicines without a prescription, or plants and seeds without a permit. Food needs a health certificate, and any restricted item ships under the regulations in force at the time of shipping.
Car shipping from Makkah to Oman
We ship cars from Makkah on an open carrier from SAR 1,690 for a sedan, SAR 2,290 for an SUV and SAR 3,190 to Salalah, or on an enclosed carrier from SAR 2,300 for luxury cars. We photograph the car’s condition before loading, strap it down and deliver it to your address in Oman.
Documents for your car
- Valid registration.
- The owner’s ID or iqama.
- Export plates or an export certificate.
- A bank letter if the car is financed.

Parcels, bags and online-store orders
A parcel up to 5 kg starts from SAR 42, a bag or box up to 30 kg from SAR 165, and larger quantities from SAR 7.5 per kg. We collect directly from hotels and pilgrim accommodation, and we serve Makkah’s online perfume and supplies stores by consolidating their Omani customers’ orders into one shipment to Muscat.
Air freight from Makkah to Muscat and Salalah
For urgent shipments we collect in Makkah and fly from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, or from Taif Airport depending on flights, to Muscat International Airport or Salalah Airport. It takes 1–3 days, and the price starts from SAR 42 per kg on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher. Air suits documents, premium perfumes, electronics and small gifts, not furniture or cars.

Commercial containers via Jeddah port
Makkah’s closeness to Jeddah Islamic Port lets traders ship full containers by sea to Salalah Port or Sohar Port. This option is for large, non-urgent commercial loads and suits goods bound for Dhofar in particular. Furniture and cars go by road across the Empty Quarter.
Road, air or sea?
| Mode | Time from Makkah | Suited to |
|---|---|---|
| Shared road | 5–7 days | Bags, boxes, single rooms and cars |
| Dedicated road | About 5 days | Houses, villas and full loads |
| Air | 1–3 days | Urgent and light items |
| Sea | Longer than road | Commercial containers from Jeddah to Salalah or Sohar |
Customs and documents
Saudi export clearance is completed through the Fasah platform, and import clearance takes place at Ramlat Khaylah with Royal Oman Police customs. Used furniture and personal effects may be exempt from customs duty for people moving their residence to Oman, under the regulations in force at the time of shipping, while new gifts and purchases are subject to customs assessment.
