Shipping company from Madinah to Oman: the route

The truck leaves Madinah heading east on the Al Hanakiyah road to Qassim, continues to Riyadh, then runs south-east through Al Kharj to Haradh, where the Shaybah road across the Empty Quarter begins. At the Empty Quarter post Saudi export formalities are completed, the truck crosses into Oman at Ramlat Khaylah and carries on to Ibri, Nizwa and Muscat. Because this route passes through major cities where loads can be consolidated, small Madinah shipments join Qassim or Riyadh loads bound for Oman, which cuts waiting time and means you pay only for your share of the space.

Full houses, villas and commercial loads travel on a dedicated truck from your door in Madinah to your address in Oman with no intermediate unloading, which is better for furniture that needs careful handling over more than two thousand kilometres.

Direct crossing instead of UAE transit

In theory you can reach Oman through Al Batha and Ghuwaifat across the UAE, but that route is longer and needs transit clearance in a third country, extra paperwork and fees. The direct crossing from the Empty Quarter post to Ramlat Khaylah shortens the distance and cuts the formalities, so we use it for every Madinah shipment.

What Madinah residents and visitors send to Oman

Madinah is a city of visitors, residents and students. Omani visitors come throughout the year, students attend the Islamic University and Taibah University, and expatriates work in education, healthcare and hospitality. So most of what we collect is Ajwa, Safawi, Anbara and Rothana dates from the farms of Al Awali and Quba and the date market; Qurans and religious books that students gather over years of study; perfumes, rugs and prayer mats; and apartment and house furniture from Al Aziziyah, Shuran, Al Difa, Al Iskan and Al Khalidiyah when families relocate to Oman.

Shipping prices from Madinah to Oman

Starting prices are the same in every Saudi city, so shared shipping from Madinah does not start higher than from Riyadh. But Madinah is far from the border, so dedicated trucks can cost more with the distance, as can delivery to Salalah and Dhofar. The itemised quote after the survey confirms the final price line by line.

Item Starts from
Small parcel up to 5 kg SAR 42
Box or bag up to 30 kg SAR 165
Boxes per kg (shared) SAR 7.5
One room with dismantling, packing and assembly SAR 1,090
Apartment (2–3 rooms, dedicated dyna) SAR 1,850
Full house SAR 3,250
Villa (trailer) SAR 5,900
Sedan SAR 1,690
SUV SAR 2,290
Car to Salalah SAR 3,190
Enclosed carrier SAR 2,300
Commercial goods per tonne (partial load or pallets) SAR 890
Dedicated truck SAR 4,190
Air freight per kg SAR 42

What goes into the quote?

We calculate the volume or weight, add the services you choose (dismantling, packing and assembly), then the shipping type (shared or dedicated) and the delivery city in Oman. Books in particular are heavy for their size, so shared road freight by the kilo works out far cheaper for them than air. For air freight we charge the higher of actual and volumetric weight, where volumetric weight = L × W × H ÷ 6000.

A Shuran example: a graduating student sending 120 kg of books and belongings to family in Sohar starts from SAR 900 in shared road freight by the kilo.

Tips to save

  • Pack books in small, sturdy cartons rather than one large box that is hard to lift.
  • Send small quantities in the shared load via Qassim and Riyadh.
  • Combine your housemates’ shipments to one address in Oman.
  • Book a few days ahead of the end of term and visiting seasons.

Furniture moving from Madinah to Oman

A furniture move starts with a survey visit, where the crew lists the items and chooses the right truck size, followed by the dismantling and packing day. We dismantle beds, wardrobes and tables, keep screws in numbered bags labelled by room, wrap pieces in blankets, bubble wrap and heavy cardboard, and load them in an order that protects fragile items. Given the long road to Oman, we use extra tie-down straps inside the truck so nothing shifts on bends.

Bedrooms, kitchens and appliances

Bedroom sets are fully dismantled with mirrors protected by wooden frames, kitchen units are taken down and numbered, and fridges and washing machines are emptied and dried with the washer drum locked. In Oman the crew reassembles everything as it was.

Majlis seating, antiques and office furniture

Majlis seating, sofas and rugs are wrapped in fabric and plastic film, and antiques, chandeliers and glassware go into padded crates; insurance can be added for valuable items on request. We also move office and education-centre furniture, numbering every unit so it is reassembled in the same order.

Delivery in Oman

On arrival we unload, place items in their rooms, assemble them and remove the packing waste. If your home is not ready, we store the furniture until the agreed date.

Ajwa dates and perfumes: protecting them from the heat

Madinah dates are a gift visitors and residents love sending to family in Oman, and so are perfumes and oud oil. The road is long and crosses the desert, and we do not use refrigerated trucks, so we rely on insulated packing in reinforced cartons with a foam layer, place these items in the middle of the truck away from the sun-exposed roof and doors, and load them last so they come off first. We ask that dates are packed and sealed at source, and that perfume bottles are tightly closed and stood upright. For a small premium quantity that needs to arrive quickly, air freight from Madinah airport is a good fit.

Commercial cargo: what is allowed and prohibited

From Madinah we ship commercial dates, packaged food, clothing, religious supplies, books and household goods. Partial loads or pallets start from SAR 890 per tonne, and a dedicated truck from SAR 4,190. We do not accept flammables, gas cylinders, loose batteries, medicines without a prescription, or plants and seeds without a permit. Commercial dates and food need a health certificate, and any restricted item ships under the regulations in force at the time of shipping.

Car shipping from Madinah to Oman

We ship cars from Madinah on an open carrier from SAR 1,690 for a sedan, SAR 2,290 for an SUV and SAR 3,190 to Salalah, or on an enclosed carrier from SAR 2,300. We inspect and photograph the car before loading, strap it down and deliver it to your address in Oman.

Car documents

  • Valid registration.
  • The owner’s ID or iqama.
  • Export plates or an export certificate.
  • A bank letter if the car is financed.

Parcels, boxes and online-store orders

A parcel up to 5 kg starts from SAR 42, a box or bag up to 30 kg from SAR 165, and larger quantities from SAR 7.5 per kg. We collect from hotels around the Prophet’s Mosque and from student housing, and we serve Madinah’s online date and perfume stores by consolidating their Omani customers’ orders into one shipment.

Air freight from Madinah to Muscat and Salalah

For urgent shipments we fly from Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah, or from Jeddah depending on flights, to Muscat International Airport or Salalah Airport. It takes 1–3 days, and the price starts from SAR 42 per kg on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher. Air suits small quantities of premium dates, documents, academic certificates and electronics, not furniture or cars.

Sea freight for commercial containers

For date and food traders sending full containers, sea freight runs from Jeddah Islamic Port to Salalah Port or Sohar Port, with the container trucked from Madinah to the port. This option is for large, non-urgent loads; furniture and cars go by road across the Empty Quarter.

Shared road 5–7 days Books, boxes, single rooms and cars
Dedicated road About 5 days Houses, villas and full loads
Air 1–3 days Urgent and light items

We complete export clearance through the Fasah platform, and import clearance takes place at Ramlat Khaylah with Royal Oman Police customs. Used furniture and personal effects, including a student’s books and belongings, may be exempt from customs duty for people moving their residence to Oman, under the regulations in force at the time of shipping, with a contents list that matches the shipment.
