Shipping company from Qassim to Oman: how your shipment travels
Qassim sits in the middle of the Kingdom, which makes Riyadh the natural consolidation point for its Oman-bound cargo. The truck collects your goods in Buraidah or Unaizah, drives down the Qassim–Riyadh expressway and joins an Al Saif convoy heading east. From Riyadh the road continues through Khurais to Al Ahsa, then south to Haradh, and from there along the Shaybah road that cuts through the sands of the Empty Quarter to the border.
At the Empty Quarter crossing the Saudi export formalities, already lodged online through the Fasah platform, are completed. The truck then crosses to Ramlat Khaylah, where Royal Oman Police customs handle import clearance. After the border the truck heads to Ibri in Al Dhahirah, then Nizwa in Al Dakhiliyah, and down to Muscat, where shipments branch out to the other governorates.
Why we use the Empty Quarter crossing instead of the UAE
The traditional road to Oman ran through the Al Batha crossing and Ghuwaifat into the UAE, then into Oman through one of its northern borders. For a shipment leaving Qassim that route is far longer and requires UAE transit: one more customs stop, more time at borders and more paperwork. The direct Empty Quarter road removes that whole detour and puts the cargo in Ibri right after the border, so it reaches Muscat and Nizwa through two border posts instead of four. That is why our regular convoys use it, and we switch to the UAE route only when the nature of a shipment requires it or the customer asks.
A Qassim customer also does not have to wait for a truck to fill from Qassim alone. A box, a room or a car is added to the shared Riyadh load, so you pay only for your share of space. Farms and date traders with a full load get a dedicated truck that leaves Buraidah directly with no consolidation stop.
What makes Qassim-to-Oman shipping different
Qassim is above all an agricultural and trading region, so much of its cargo to Oman is dates from the Buraidah and Unaizah markets, honey, local ghee and kleicha, alongside the furniture of large homes in Al Rayyan, Al Iskan, Al Nahdah and Al Safra in Buraidah and Al Faisaliyah and Al Sulaimaniyah in Unaizah. Many of our customers are Omani residents or families with relatives in Ibri, Nizwa and Muscat who send seasonal gifts, or who move their whole household at the end of a job or a degree at Qassim University.
Pay for your space only and join a regular convoy.
Packing that shields them from desert heat, plus health papers for trade.
Crews to dismantle and reassemble majlis sets, bedrooms and kitchens.
Across the Empty Quarter to Ibri with no transit.
Shipping prices from Qassim to Oman
We use the same starting prices in every Saudi city, so a Qassim customer does not pay more for shared shipping just for being outside Riyadh. Towns far from the main road, and delivery to Salalah and the Dhofar governorate, raise the cost with the extra distance, and the itemised quote you receive after the survey confirms the final price line by line.
| Item | Starts from |
|---|---|
| Small parcel up to 5 kg | SAR 42 |
| Box or bag up to 30 kg | SAR 165 |
| Boxes per kg (shared) | SAR 7.5 |
| One room with dismantling, packing and assembly | SAR 1,090 |
| Apartment (2–3 rooms, dedicated dyna) | SAR 1,850 |
| Full house | SAR 3,250 |
| Villa (trailer) | SAR 5,900 |
| Sedan | SAR 1,690 |
| SUV | SAR 2,290 |
| Car to Salalah | SAR 3,190 |
| Enclosed carrier | SAR 2,300 |
| Commercial goods per tonne (partial load or pallets) | SAR 890 |
| Dedicated truck | SAR 4,190 |
| Air freight per kg | SAR 42 |
How the quote is calculated
We start with the volume or weight of the shipment, then add the service you need: do you want dismantling, packing and assembly, or will you hand over ready boxes? Is the load shared, or on a dedicated truck that carries nothing else? Then we look at the delivery governorate, because Ibri and Al Buraimi sit close to the border while Sur, Duqm and Salalah are much further. For air freight the higher of actual and volumetric weight applies, with volumetric weight = L × W × H ÷ 6000. A 60 × 50 × 40 cm box is charged as 20 kg even if it actually weighs 9 kg.
Example from Unaizah: a trader sending 3 tonnes of packed date cartons on pallets to a distributor in Muscat pays from about SAR 2,670 as a partial load, with a commercial registration, invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and health certificate. Once the volume approaches a full truckload, a dedicated truck from SAR 4,190 becomes more economical.
Ways to save
- Send small quantities with the shared Riyadh load instead of booking a whole truck.
- Use boxes of the same size so they stack without paid-for gaps.
- Combine relatives’ shipments to one address in Muscat or Ibri and split them there.
- Book a few days ahead of peak periods, especially date season and school holidays.
- Do not ship worn-out appliances 1,750 km; selling them locally usually costs less.
- For air freight, keep boxes compact, because volumetric weight can exceed actual weight.

Furniture moving from Qassim to Oman
Qassim homes tend to be large, with separate majlis rooms for men and women, several living rooms, many bedrooms and a big kitchen. That is why the survey decides whether a dyna is enough or a trailer is needed. A supervisor visits or reviews photos of every room, counts the pieces, estimates the cubic metres and suggests the most economical way to ship.
Furniture moving options
- A student’s or employee’s room: shared shipping from SAR 1,090 with dismantling, packing and assembly.
- A 2–3 room apartment: a dedicated dyna from SAR 1,850 that stops for no one else.
- A full house: from SAR 3,250 depending on the number of rooms and majlis sets.
- A villa: a trailer from SAR 5,900 for villas in Buraidah, Unaizah and Ar Rass.
- Office furniture: desks, chairs, filing cabinets and equipment, numbered and set back in order at the new office in Muscat or Sohar.
Bedrooms, kitchens and majlis sets
The crew dismantles beds, wardrobes and kitchen cabinets and puts screws and hinges in bags labelled with the number of the piece they belong to. Wood is wrapped in fabric blankets and then reinforced plastic, and corners get cardboard guards. Dishes and glass are wrapped one by one in double-wall cartons, and mattresses go into sealed covers against dust. Arabic majlis seating and velvet sofas get two layers and ride on top of the load, away from pressure.
Antiques and appliances
Antiques, large mirrors, paintings and silver coffee sets go into custom wooden crates, secured in the truck so nothing heavy sits on them. Fridges and washing machines are drained, their drums locked, and they travel upright. Insurance can be added for valuable items on request.
In Oman: delivery and assembly
The crew arrives at your address in Muscat or any other governorate, carries each piece into its room, reassembles beds, wardrobes and the kitchen, hangs curtains and mirrors on request, then clears away the cartons and plastic and leaves the place clean.

Commercial cargo from Qassim to Oman
For factories in the Buraidah industrial city and for wholesalers we offer two options: a partial load by the tonne or by pallet from SAR 890 per tonne, or a dedicated truck from SAR 4,190 for a full load. We ship packed dates, packaged processed dairy products, dry foods, car parts, light farm equipment and building and finishing materials.
What is allowed and what is not
Flammables, gas cylinders, loose batteries, medicines without a prescription, and plants and seeds without a permit cannot be shipped. This matters in Qassim in particular: do not put palm offshoots or farm seeds in a shipment without a permit from the competent authority. Commercial food needs a health certificate, all according to the regulations in force at the time of shipping.
Full load or partial load?
If your goods fill less than half a truck, a partial load is cheaper because you pay only for the space you use, though it waits for the shared load to fill in Riyadh. If the cargo is close to a full truck or tied to a delivery date, a dedicated truck leaves Buraidah directly and arrives sooner.
Parcels, boxes and e-commerce orders
A small parcel up to 5 kg starts from SAR 42, a box or bag up to 30 kg from SAR 165, and larger quantities are charged from SAR 7.5 per kg on shared shipping. Put heavy items in small boxes and light ones in large boxes, and write the recipient’s name, mobile number and governorate in Oman on every box.
Online shops in Qassim selling dates, kleicha, perfume and incense to customers in Oman can batch orders weekly and send them together to a distribution address in Muscat, which brings the cost per order well below sending each one separately.
Dates and perfume: protection from desert-road heat
The Shaybah and Empty Quarter road is one of the hottest routes in summer, and dates and perfume are what suffer most from heat. We do not use refrigerated trucks on this route, but our packing and loading method greatly reduces the effect of heat:
- Dates: shipped packed and sealed in tins or vacuum bags, inside cartons lined with thermal insulation, and placed in the middle of the load away from the truck’s roof and walls.
- Perfume and oud oil: each bottle is wrapped individually and shipped upright in padded boxes, with caps taped to stop leaks as the liquid expands.
- Chocolate and sweets: ideally sent in the mild months or by air.
- Loading time: these shipments are loaded early in the day, with minimal waiting time in open yards.

Car shipping from Qassim to Oman
We ship cars from Buraidah, Unaizah and Ar Rass on shared open carriers from SAR 1,690 for a sedan and SAR 2,290 for an SUV, the usual choice for everyday cars. Luxury and collector cars travel on an enclosed carrier from SAR 2,300, and delivery to Salalah starts from SAR 3,190 because of the extra distance.
Documents for car shipping
- Valid vehicle registration (istimara).
- The owner’s ID or iqama.
- Export plates or an export certificate.
- A bank letter if the car is financed.
Steps to ship your car
- Send photos of the registration and ID on WhatsApp.
- Get export plates or the export certificate ready.
- We inspect the car and record its condition with photos and the odometer reading at pickup.
- It is loaded on the carrier with every wheel strapped down.
- Clearance at the Empty Quarter crossing and Ramlat Khaylah, then delivery to your governorate.
Air freight from Qassim to Oman
For urgent shipments we fly cargo from Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz Airport in Qassim, or from King Khalid Airport in Riyadh depending on flights, to Muscat International Airport, and to Salalah Airport for customers in Dhofar. Delivery takes 1–3 days and prices start from SAR 42 per kg on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher. Air suits documents, trade samples, electronics, light gifts and prescription medicines, not furniture or cars.

Sea freight for commercial containers
For companies exporting large volumes in containers, we arrange sea freight from King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam to Sohar Port or Salalah Port, with the container trucked from Qassim to Dammam. This option is only for large, non-urgent commercial cargo. Furniture and cars always go by road, which is faster and involves less unloading and reloading.
Road, air or sea?
| Mode | Time from Qassim | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Shared road | 4–6 days | Boxes, rooms, cars and retail goods |
| Dedicated road | About 4–5 days | Villas, houses and full date loads |
| Air | 1–3 days | Urgent, light items |
| Sea | Longer than road | Commercial containers from Dammam to Sohar or Salalah |
Customs and documents
Export data is lodged online through Fasah before the truck reaches the Empty Quarter crossing. On the Omani side the shipment is cleared at Ramlat Khaylah by Royal Oman Police customs and matched against the contents list, with an Al Saif representative on hand to follow up on any query.
| Shipment type | Required |
|---|---|
| Furniture and personal effects | ID or iqama, passport, contents list, Fasah authorisation, Omani consignee details (civil ID or resident card and mobile number) |
| Car | Registration, owner’s ID, export plates or certificate, bank letter if financed |
| Commercial goods and dates | Commercial registration, invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, health certificate for food |
Used furniture and personal effects may be exempt from customs duty when the exemption conditions are met, for example that they are used and owned by the person relocating, according to the regulations in force at the time of shipping. That is why we ask for an accurate contents list that separates used belongings from any new items.

Storage before or after shipping
If you travel ahead of your shipment or your home in Oman is not ready, we keep your furniture packed in a closed warehouse and ship it when you ask. This helps students and employees who finish their contracts in Qassim before receiving their new home in Muscat.
Shipping from Oman to Qassim
We also run the reverse route from Muscat, Sohar, Nizwa and Ibri to Buraidah, Unaizah and Ar Rass, for families returning to Qassim and traders importing from Oman, with the same services: dismantling, packing, clearance and assembly.
When is a good time to ship?
The mild months from autumn to spring suit appliances, wooden furniture, dates and perfume, because Empty Quarter summer heat is high. Demand rises in date season, before holidays and Eid, and at the end of the school year, so book a few days ahead.
