Shipping from Madinah to Morocco: how do your belongings get there?
Madinah is an inland city with no port serving Morocco routes, so the journey begins with a truck leaving your district for Jeddah Islamic Port, along a highway of about 420 km that takes roughly five to six hours. We load and seal the container at your door, or take your goods to our warehouse to be stowed in a shared container; it is then handed in at the port, export formalities are completed, and the ship sails north up the Red Sea, through the Suez Canal into the Mediterranean, and west to the Strait of Gibraltar and the Moroccan ports.
This route is much shorter than from Riyadh or the Eastern Province, and the container usually reaches the port the same day. Even so, we tie loading in Madinah to the vessel’s sailing from Jeddah so the container does not wait at the port for days, and we plan around the visiting seasons in Ramadan and the holidays, when the central area is crowded.
The right Moroccan port
Casablanca port serves Casablanca, Mohammedia, El Jadida, Rabat, Salé, Kenitra and Marrakech. Tanger Med serves Tangier, Tetouan and Larache, with road links to Fes, Meknes and Oujda. Agadir serves the Souss and the south. We choose the port that brings your belongings closest to your address.
Why Madinah residents choose Al Saif
Moroccans have long had a presence in Madinah: students at the Islamic University who come from Fes, Marrakech, Tangier and elsewhere, spend their study years here and return home; families who settled near the Prophet’s Mosque; and people working in hotels, shops and hospitals. Each group needs something different: the student ships a library and belongings, the family moves a whole house, the trader sends goods. We plan each shipment on that basis.
- Experience with students’ shipments: careful packing of books, manuscripts and large libraries.
- A crew in Madinah: surveying, dismantling, packing and numbering every item before loading.
- Shared containers: for a room or some boxes, without paying for a whole container.
- Two arrival options: door delivery with assembly on request, or port collection through a Moroccan clearance agent.
- Itemised quotes: trucking, ocean freight, clearance and delivery shown separately.
- Optional insurance: insurance can be added for valuable items on request.
Shipping prices from Madinah to Morocco
Starting prices are the same for every Saudi city; a Madinah customer adds the trucking leg to Jeddah, which is shorter than from central and eastern cities. The total varies with shipment size, arrival port and delivery address. Destination port charges, inland delivery and clearance in Morocco are set in the itemised quote.
| Item | Starts from |
|---|---|
| Air freight per kg (actual or volumetric, whichever is higher) | SAR 18 |
| Air box, 20–30 kg | SAR 190 |
| One room, shared container | SAR 560 |
| Full home | SAR 4,600 |
| 20 ft container | SAR 5,600 |
| 40 ft container (villa) | SAR 7,500 |
| LCL commercial cargo per CBM | SAR 790 |
| Sedan (RoRo or shared container) | SAR 1,900 |
| SUV in its own 20 ft container | SAR 5,600 |
What sets the price?
- Volume and weight: books are heavy, so a large library is charged by volume at sea and by weight in the air.
- Container type: shared, 20 ft or 40 ft.
- Arrival port: Casablanca, Tanger Med or Agadir.
- Collection point: inside Madinah or in Badr, Khaybar or AlUla.
- Services: dismantling and assembly, wooden crates and storage.
How to save
The economical way to ship a student’s library or a single room is a shared container, because books are heavy and expensive by air. Send by air only the books you need on arrival and leave the rest for the sea. Anyone moving a full home should compare the full-home rate with a 20 ft container. And book early before the end of the academic year, when returning students compete for space.
Furniture moving from Madinah to Morocco
Madinah homes range from apartments in Al Aziziyah, Shoran and Al Khalidiyah to villas in Al Awali, Sultanah and Al Iskan, and student housing around the Islamic University. Our crew starts with a survey and a numbered contents list, and asks about your home in Morocco, whether an apartment in Rabat or Casablanca, a house in the old medina of Fes, or a village home in the Atlas, then decides what to dismantle and what to wrap whole.

Bedrooms and majlis seating
Beds and wardrobes are taken down to panels, wrapped in padded plastic and heavy cardboard, with screws in numbered bags. Mattresses go into sealed covers. Sofas and majlis seating are wrapped in blankets and then plastic, and it helps to measure the salon of your Moroccan home in advance.
Kitchens, including IKEA kitchens
We dismantle kitchen cabinets, numbering and photographing each unit. IKEA kitchens are sensitive to moisture, so we wrap their panels in an insulating layer and stand them upright in the container. Pots and glassware are wrapped piece by piece in divided boxes.
Appliances and ACs
Fridges and washing machines are emptied and dried, and the washer drum is locked. A technician removes split ACs after pumping down the gas. Plugs in Morocco differ from those common in Saudi Arabia, so check with an electrician there before switching on.
Libraries, antiques and office furniture
This is what sets Madinah apart: many of our shipments are complete scholarly libraries belonging to students and scholars. We pack books in small, strong boxes so the cardboard does not tear under the weight, wrap rare volumes one by one, and number the boxes by shelf so the library can be rebuilt in order. Antiques, mirrors and chandeliers go into wooden crates, and office furniture is moved with drawers and cabinets numbered.

Madinah to Jeddah port: the trucking leg
The container comes to your door to be loaded and sealed, not to be opened until Morocco, or a closed truck takes your goods to our warehouse to be stowed in a shared container. The truck takes the Madinah–Jeddah highway, and we follow it until it is handed in at the port and export formalities are completed through the Fasah platform. For distant governorates such as AlUla and Khaybar we arrange a collection date in advance.
Sea freight from Jeddah to Casablanca and Tanger Med
Sea freight is the main route for furniture, cars, cargo and libraries to Morocco. We offer full containers (FCL), 20 ft for an apartment or mid-sized house and 40 ft for a villa, and shared shipping (LCL) for a room or a student’s boxes. The container sails from Jeddah through the Suez Canal to Casablanca or Tanger Med in about 18–25 days depending on the line, or to Agadir for the south. A 20 ft container starts from SAR 5,600, a 40 ft from SAR 7,500 and a shared room from SAR 560.
Port to door or port to port
With port to door we follow clearance through a local Moroccan clearance agent, then deliver to your address and assemble on request. With port to port the owner collects the container through a customs broker of their choice, who handles clearance and inland transport. A student with family in their Moroccan city may prefer port collection, while a returning family usually prefers door delivery.
Moroccan cities we deliver to
| City | Suitable port | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Casablanca and Mohammedia | Casablanca | Direct delivery |
| Rabat, Salé and Temara | Casablanca | About 90 km |
| Kenitra | Casablanca | North of Rabat |
| Marrakech | Casablanca | About 240 km |
| Fes and Meknes | Casablanca or Tanger Med | Depending on the sailing |
| Tangier and Tetouan | Tanger Med | Close to the port |
| Oujda and Nador | Tanger Med | Road transport to the east |
| Agadir and the Souss | Agadir | For the south |
In old medinas with narrow lanes, the last stretch is done by small vehicles or by hand, and we make this clear in the quote.
Moroccans in Madinah: students, returning for good and gifts
Moroccan students at the Islamic University are an important group of our customers: when they graduate they have books collected over years, clothes, devices and sometimes the furniture of family housing. We send what they need immediately by air, and the library and heavy items by sea in a shared container. There are also Moroccan families who lived near the Prophet’s Mosque for many years and decided to return home for good; they move the whole house in a 20 ft or 40 ft container and need proof of residence abroad and relocation, because relief on used belongings depends on these papers. And there are gifts: Ajwa dates, Qurans, prayer rugs, perfumes and clothes, in 20–30 kg air boxes or in shared sea freight.
Moroccan customs and exemptions
Morocco’s Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration sets the conditions for importing used furniture, personal effects, books and cars, which depend on the recipient’s status: a Moroccan resident abroad returning for good, a returning student, a visitor or a foreign resident. Some cases may qualify for relief on used belongings when the required papers are presented, while others pay duties. Because the rules change, confirm with Moroccan customs or the Moroccan consulate before shipping, and we prepare the declarations in line with the regulations in force at the time of shipping.
Furniture documents
- ID or iqama, and passport.
- Numbered contents list, with a note of books if there are many.
- Fasah authorisation for export.
- Consignee details in Morocco: name, national ID number, address and phone.
Commercial documents
Commercial registration, commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin. Dates and food products may need extra health certificates, so we review them with you before loading.
Shipping goods and dates from Madinah to Morocco
Madinah dates, Ajwa in particular, are in demand in Morocco all year and even more in Ramadan. We ship packed dates and commercial goods as part loads from SAR 790 per CBM, or as full loads in 20 ft or 40 ft containers, with the declarations and certificates required, then follow the container to the arrival port and hand it to the importer’s agent or warehouse.
Car shipping from Madinah to Morocco
Cars go to Morocco by sea in one of two ways: RoRo vessels, where the car is driven up the ship’s ramp and secured uncovered on deck, which suits ordinary cars; or a container, where the car is secured inside a closed shared or private container, which suits SUVs and luxury cars. Sedans start from SAR 1,900, and an SUV in its own 20 ft container from SAR 5,600. We move the car from Madinah to Jeddah port on a car carrier.

Car documents
- Vehicle registration and owner’s ID.
- Export plates or export certificate.
- Bank letter if financed.
- Traffic fines settled.
Importing the car into Morocco
Moroccan customs set the conditions and duties for importing cars, including rules on vehicle age, the owner’s status and relief for returning residents. These conditions change, so confirm with Moroccan customs or the consulate before shipping to avoid an obstacle at clearance.
Air freight from Madinah to Mohammed V Airport
For documents, university certificates, devices, student luggage and urgent orders we offer air freight. We collect from your home or student housing, and the shipment flies from Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah or via King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah, depending on flights, to Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, Marrakech Menara or Rabat-Salé, arriving in 2–5 days. Prices start from SAR 18 per kg on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher, where volumetric weight = length × width × height ÷ 6000 in centimetres, and a 20–30 kg box starts from SAR 190.

Books are heavy, so a box of books is charged by its actual weight in the air, which is why we recommend sending them by sea except for what you need urgently.
Land, air or sea?
| Mode | Transit | Suits | Starts from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sea | About 18–25 days port to port | Homes, libraries, cars and cargo | SAR 560 per shared room |
| Air | 2–5 days | Documents, urgent and light items | SAR 18 per kg |
| Land | Not used | Crosses many borders | — |
For a Madinah customer: sea from Jeddah for the home, the library and the car, and air for documents and urgent items.
Prohibited items and packing
We do not accept flammable materials, gas cylinders, loose batteries, medicines without a prescription, or plants and seeds without a permit, including palm offshoots. For books, use small double-wall boxes and never fill a large box with books, which becomes hard to lift and tears. Fill gaps with paper and write the contents and shelf number on every box.
Parcels, bags and online stores
We ship parcels and bags by air: a 20–30 kg box starts from SAR 190, and anything above is charged per kg from SAR 18. We also serve Madinah online stores selling dates, perfumes and Qurans to customers in Morocco, sending orders to buyers’ addresses or consolidating them in shared shipping.
Distance and transit table
| Leg | Approximate distance or time |
|---|---|
| Madinah → Jeddah Islamic Port (truck) | About 420 km, one day |
| Jeddah → Casablanca or Tanger Med (sea) | About 18–25 days |
| Madinah → Mohammed V Airport (air) | 2–5 days |
| Tanger Med → Fes (road) | About 300 km |
Clearance in Morocco and delivery to the address are added on top.
