Pickup Truck Furniture Moving in Riyadh | Appliances, Student Moves & Showroom Runs
When the load is a fridge and a washing machine, a student’s bed and wardrobe, or a sofa you just bought from a showroom, a full dyna and a big crew make no sense. That’s why Muasasat Al Saif runs pickup truck (wanet) furniture moving in Riyadh: a driver with one or two helpers who carry the items from your door, strap and cover them, and deliver them to any district in the city or to nearby towns such as Al Kharj. A pickup trip within Riyadh starts from SAR 140, and dismantling and reassembling a bed or wardrobe starts from SAR 140 per room, rising with the number of items, the floor and the distance. List what you need moved or send photos through the quote request page.
Is a pickup enough? A quick test
- Fewer than about eight large items? Fridge, washer, bed, small wardrobe, sofa, desk and some boxes.
- Can you count them on your fingers? If you need a sheet of paper for the list, you probably need a dyna.
- Is it inside Riyadh or close by? For long distances we suggest a closed or shared truck.
- From: pickup trip SAR 140, carpenter SAR 140 per room, winch SAR 185, AC unit SAR 115.
When pickup truck furniture moving in Riyadh is the right choice
A pickup has an open bed, moves quickly through side streets and stops where a dyna can’t. It’s ideal for some jobs and a false economy for others. We usually send one for:
- Students and single workers: a single bed, small wardrobe, desk, chair, mini fridge and boxes of clothes and books.
- Appliances: a fridge, washer, freezer or cooker going to another home or to family.
- Showroom and haraj buys: a sofa from the Khurais Road showrooms or a second-hand bedroom set from Haraj Ibn Qasim in south Riyadh.
- Finishing a bigger move: pieces left after the dyna has gone, or things forgotten at the old place.
- Small offices: a couple of desks, a printer, a filing cabinet and shelves.
- Rest-houses (istirahas): outdoor seating, a fridge, an AC unit and shades on the city’s edge.
A whole apartment, even a two-bedroom one, would take three or more pickup runs. At that point a closed dyna is cheaper overall and kinder to the furniture.

What changes the price of a trip: the number and weight of items (a double-door fridge needs two people), the floor (a washer on a fourth-floor walk-up is a different job), the distance (inside one district versus Al Dar Al Baida to Al Qairawan), waiting time if you want stops at two showrooms, and whether a carpenter is needed.
Districts we cover
North (Al Narjis, Al Malqa, Al Yasmin, Al Sahafa, Al Qairawan) is mostly new furniture going from showrooms into new homes. South (Al Shifa, Al Aziziyah, Al Dar Al Baida, Manfuhah, Al Shumaisi) has lanes where a pickup fits and a dyna doesn’t, plus haraj runs. East (Al Naseem, Al Rawdah, Al Rayyan, Al Rimal, Al Nahdah) means family appliances between nearby blocks. West (Al Suwaidi, Dhahrat Laban, Tuwaiq, Al Uraija) brings students and walk-ups. Central Riyadh (Al Malaz, Al Olaya, Al Murabba, Al Futah) is bachelor rooms and small offices.
Loading: strapping and covering
The open bed is both the pickup’s strength and its weakness: it loads fast from any side, but the cargo is exposed to sun, dust and wind. Nothing goes on without proper ratchet straps, and on longer runs or dusty days a tarpaulin goes over the load.

- Fridges always travel upright, strapped to the headboard of the bed, and rest for a few hours before being switched on.
- Front-loading washers get their transit bolts in if you still have them, or padding to stop the drum moving.
- Sofas go on their side or back, wrapped, with nothing heavy resting on them.
- Wooden panels stand on edge against the side of the bed with blankets between them.
- Boxes fill the gaps so nothing can slide.
Packing small loads
Many pickup customers skip packing and then find a scratched TV or a cracked glass tabletop. You don’t need to wrap everything, but some things shouldn’t ride in an open bed unprotected.

TVs go in their original box or in bubble wrap with corner guards, upright. Glass table tops come off and travel between two sheets of cardboard. Mattresses go in sealed bags. Fabric sofas get a full plastic wrap, because dust in an open bed works straight into the fabric. Extra packing for valuable or sentimental pieces starts from SAR 140.
Student and bachelor furniture, upper floors and helpers
Single beds, two-door wardrobes and flat-pack desks come apart quickly in experienced hands and fall apart in rough ones, because chipboard doesn’t forgive screws being forced in and out. We dismantle in order, bag the screws with each piece and rebuild at the new place, from SAR 140 per room. Two helpers can take a washer or small fridge up to the third or fourth floor; a large double-door fridge or a long sofa in a tight stairwell needs the winch (from SAR 185). Send a photo of the stairs and we’ll know whether two people are enough.
That’s also why we never send a driver alone. A helper knows how to tilt a fridge without laying it flat, turn a sofa through a narrow door rather than force it, and protect banisters with a sheet of cardboard. He also does the strapping, and a strap pulled too tight on a fabric sofa leaves a permanent mark.
Included and extra
A pickup trip includes the vehicle and driver, loading and unloading, straps, a tarpaulin when needed and carrying items into the room at the new address. Extra on request: carpenter, winch, AC units, extra packing, long waits or multiple stops, and storage.
A worked example: a student leaving Al Malaz
Abdulrahman rented a room in a shared third-floor walk-up in Al Malaz and moved closer to his university in north-west Riyadh. He had a single bed and mattress, a two-door wardrobe, a desk and chair, a mini fridge, a TV and six boxes of books and clothes. One pickup with two helpers did it in a single run. A carpenter took the bed and wardrobe apart in under an hour and rebuilt them at the new place; everything went down the stairs without a winch, and a tarpaulin covered the load for the midday ring-road drive. The trip starts from SAR 140 and the carpenter from SAR 140 per room. What saved time: books packed in small boxes, since one big box of books is hard for a single person to carry down stairs.
Delivery at the new address
The driver calls before arriving to confirm the address and where to park. Items are carried into the room you choose, not left at the building door. If you’re sending something to someone else, a fridge to your parents or a sofa to your brother, give us the recipient’s name and how to reach them; the driver hands over the items and checks their condition with them.

Pickup moves outside Riyadh
A pickup also covers nearby towns and governorates such as Al Kharj, Diriyah, Al Muzahimiyah and Huraymila, as well as rest-houses and farms on the city’s edge. A small load from Riyadh to Al Kharj (about 80 km) starts from SAR 280. For long highway runs an open bed isn’t suitable, so we use a closed or shared truck: small loads start from SAR 470 to Dammam (about 400 km) or Al Ahsa (about 330 km), SAR 560 to Jeddah (about 950 km) and SAR 750 to Buraidah (about 350 km).
Before the pickup arrives
- Send a list of items with photos; an accurate list decides whether one trip is enough.
- Switch off and dry the fridge a few hours ahead; drain the washer.
- Pack books in small boxes, clothes in larger ones.
- Ask the showroom or seller to have the item ready at the door.
- Make sure the recipient is there if it’s going to someone else.
Never load: gas cylinders, fuel or flammables, gold and cash, official papers or medicines. Keep those in your own car.
Timing, low quotes, storage and cleaning
Demand peaks at month end when rooms are vacated, at the start of university terms and during seasonal showroom sales. In summer we prefer mornings or after Asr, since leather, fabric and some plastics suffer in an open bed under midday sun; in Ramadan many runs happen after Taraweeh. Some pickup adverts are a driver with no helper who expects you to carry the fridge with him, so ask how many helpers come, whether straps and a tarpaulin are included, whether delivery is to the room or the door and whether waiting time is charged. We can also take your things to covered storage while you travel, priced by volume and time, and cleaning the vacated room or flat is an optional extra.
Common mistakes
- Underestimating the load and needing a second trip.
- Laying a fridge on its back, or switching it on straight away.
- Carrying a fabric sofa uncovered on a dusty day.
- Booking a driver with no helper for heavy items on an upper floor.
- Using an open pickup for a long highway trip.
How to book
- Send the item list, photos, both addresses and the floor at each.
- We confirm helpers, carpenter or winch, and send the quote.
- The driver calls before arrival.
- Loading, strapping and covering.
- Delivery into the room, and assembly if requested.
