Furniture Moving in Jeddah | Dismantling, Humidity-Safe Packing, Winch & Reassembly

At Muasasat Al Saif we handle furniture moving in Jeddah from the first box to the last screw: we take apart beds, wardrobes and kitchens, wrap everything in materials suited to Jeddah’s humidity, lift heavy pieces with a winch when the stairs won’t do, and reassemble each item in its place at the new home. We work across the city, from Obhur, Al Shati and Al Muhammadiyah in the north to Al Rawdah, Al Safa and Al Samer in the centre and east, and down to Al Sanabel and Al Harazat in the south. Moving a single room starts from SAR 185, a two-to-three-bedroom apartment from SAR 465 and a villa from SAR 1,120; the final figure depends on volume, floor and distance. How a moving day with us runs in Jeddah

  • Before the day: a survey or photos, an itemised quote, and an agreed crew size and vehicle.
  • At the old home: dismantling, wrapping every piece, and labelling boxes by room.
  • Loading: by stairs, lift or winch, heavy items at the bottom of the truck.
  • At the new home: unloading, reassembly, boxes placed in their rooms, packing waste removed.
  • Starting prices: room SAR 185, apartment SAR 465, villa SAR 1,120, dyna trip SAR 185.

Furniture moving in Jeddah, step by step

Most moving problems start days before the truck arrives, when a price is agreed without anyone knowing how much furniture there really is. So our first questions are simple: how many rooms, which floor, is there a lift, and where is the new place? We then ask for photos of the living room, bedrooms and kitchen, or send a supervisor to look in person. From that we build a quote that says how many hours, how many workers, which vehicle, and whether the big wardrobe needs the winch.

On the day, the carpenter starts with the bedrooms because they take longest, while the rest of the crew wraps the living room and kitchen. Nothing is loaded unwrapped, and we walk through every room before leaving to check drawers are empty and screws are bagged. At the new home, beds and wardrobes go up first so the family can sleep properly that same night.

What changes the price in Jeddah

Jeddah stretches a long way along the coast, so a move from Al Khumrah in the south to Obhur Al Shamaliyah in the north can run past fifty kilometres through King Abdulaziz Road or Madinah Road traffic. Beyond distance, these matter most:

  • Floor and lift: a four-storey walk-up in an older district takes far more effort than a tower with a service lift.
  • Lift size: many Jeddah buildings have small lifts that won’t take a wardrobe or long sofa, so a winch is needed anyway.
  • Built-in wardrobes and kitchens: more carpentry time.
  • AC units: each split unit is priced separately.
  • Parking: where the truck can’t park at the door, carrying takes longer.
  • Timing: month-end and the days before school starts book up early.

Packing for Jeddah’s humid air

Humidity is not a minor detail here. Particle board in wardrobes and beds swells if left sealed in plastic for days, metal hinges rust sooner than in inland cities, and a slightly damp mattress wrapped tight comes out smelling stale. We wrap in two layers: blankets or corrugated card against the wood so it can breathe, then stretch film on corners and exposed faces. For same-day moves that’s enough; for storage we leave ventilation gaps and put moisture absorbers in drawers and clothes boxes.

  • Glass and mirrors in double card with foam edges, carried upright.
  • Crockery wrapped piece by piece, boxes filled so nothing shifts.
  • Fabric sofas get a cloth cover before plastic so they don’t sweat.
  • Fridges emptied and dried the night before.

Moving electronics from an air-conditioned room into Jeddah’s warm, damp air can cause condensation, so let screens and devices settle to room temperature before switching them on.

Dismantling and reassembly

Good dismantling is half the reassembly. Our carpenter photographs complicated wardrobes first and bags each piece’s screws, labelled and taped to that piece. Sliding-door wardrobes get extra care on their tracks. For built-in wardrobes we’ll tell you upfront if they won’t fit the new room, so you don’t pay to move something you can’t use. Kitchens come apart in order, worktop, upper units, then lower units, each numbered by position; we need the new kitchen’s measurements, as an L-shaped layout may need adjusting. We also hang curtains and mount TVs on request.

Winch lifting and high floors

The winch isn’t only for towers. In Jeddah we use it often on older four- and five-storey buildings without lifts, or where the lift won’t take a three-seater. We check for a balcony or window wide enough, room for the winch in the street, and any cables or trees in the way. Winch work starts from SAR 280. Towers on the Corniche and residential compounds in the north usually require a booked service lift and sometimes a management permit, so ask a few days ahead and we’ll time our arrival to the booking.

Choosing the right vehicle

A wanet suits a fridge, washer or a store pickup. A dabab suits one room or a bachelor’s move, and fits the lanes of Al Balad. A dyna suits a two-to-three-bedroom apartment. A closed truck suits villas, fine furniture and long days. For large villas we often pair a truck with a dyna that comes back for the last boxes.

What’s included and what’s extra

Included: standard bed and wardrobe dismantling and reassembly, basic wrapping, loading, unloading, transport within Jeddah and placing items in rooms. Added when needed: winch, kitchen, AC units, VIP packing, extra cartons, curtains and TV mounting. Separate on request: storage and cleaning.

A real example: Al Safa to Obhur North

A family of five in a third-floor walk-up in Al Safa moved to a ground floor with a garden in Obhur North: three bedrooms, a majlis, an L-shaped sofa, a six-seat dining table, an aluminium kitchen, two split ACs, appliances and about thirty boxes. The sofa and main wardrobe wouldn’t pass the stairs, so we used the winch. A carpenter, an AC technician and four workers started at 7 a.m., finished loading around 11, drove about forty-five minutes north, and had everything assembled before sunset. Starting prices: apartment SAR 465 + winch SAR 280 + kitchen SAR 370 + two ACs SAR 280 = from SAR 1,395, adjusted after the survey.

Before moving day

  • Empty wardrobes and drawers; bag and label clothes.
  • Switch off and dry the fridge the night before.
  • Photograph TV and router cabling.
  • Book the service lift with building management.
  • Measure doorways and rooms at the new place.
  • Keep gold, cash, documents and daily medicines with you. Full gas cylinders and flammables don’t go in the truck.

Timing, offers and storage

In summer we start at dawn or after Asr to avoid the midday heat and humidity. Winter is comfortable, though on rainy days we cover loads well or wait a few hours. In Ramadan we can work after Taraweeh or early morning. If an offer is far below the market, ask whether it covers dismantling, how many workers come, whether a carpenter is among them, and what the winch and kitchen cost. Need time between homes? We store furniture wrapped and labelled, keeping wood and fabric ventilated, and can arrange cleaning of either home as an optional extra.

Moving from Jeddah to other cities

We also move homes from Jeddah to Makkah, Taif, Madinah, Yanbu, Riyadh, the Eastern Province and the south in closed trucks. A room or small load to Makkah starts from SAR 560, to Taif from SAR 650 and to Riyadh from SAR 560. Tell us your rooms, floor and both districts on our quote request page and we’ll send an itemised price.
