Send photos through the quote request page to see the cost before you book.

🌿 Taif on moving day

  • Weather: milder than Jeddah and Makkah most of the year, so daytime work is realistic; winter mornings are cold.
  • Rain: showers arrive suddenly, so everything is fully film-wrapped and carried in a closed dyna.
  • Homes: many villas and independent floors, plus walk-up blocks in older districts.
  • From: SAR 280 per room, SAR 450 per apartment, SAR 900 per villa, SAR 45 for a dabab trip between districts.

Furniture moving in Taif: a city unlike its neighbours

Anyone arriving from Jeddah or Makkah notices the difference straight away. The air is gentler, homes are larger, and people build villas and independent floors more than tall blocks. That shapes every move: big majlis sets, heavy solid-wood bedrooms bought to last, and gardens with outdoor seating and shades. At the same time, older districts around the city centre have three- and four-storey walk-ups and inner streets too narrow for a large truck.

People move to and from Taif for many reasons: job transfers, students at Taif University, families leaving the heat of Jeddah and Makkah for good, and others renting a house for the summer. Each brings a different volume and different needs, which is why we ask what you are moving, from where and to which floor before we price anything.

Taif weather and your moving date

Taif is one of the few cities in the region where daytime summer work is manageable, although high-summer middays are warm here too. The city has its surprises: afternoon rain with little warning in some seasons, wind and dust at times, and properly cold winter mornings. So we never trust a clear sky at breakfast. Every item gets a full film wrap, we load into a closed dyna, and we carry spare blankets to cover furniture at the door if rain starts during unloading. Demand peaks at month end, before the school year, at the start of summer when holiday renters arrive and at its end when they leave. During Ramadan we usually work after Asr or at night.

Packing against rain and dust

Heavy wood, common in Taif homes, reacts badly to getting wet, and dusty fabric turns to mud stains when rain hits it. We put a fabric blanket on the wood first, then film around the whole piece, and seal mattresses in purpose-made bags. Sofas are wrapped completely, with legs and arms wrapped separately. Glass, chandeliers and ornaments get bubble wrap; mirrors and glass tables get cardboard corners; drawers and doors are taped; and screws go into numbered bags. Heavy crockery goes into small boxes, because a large carton full of plates cannot be carried safely, while clothes and bedding fill the large ones.

Winch lifting, upper floors and loading

Many older Taif buildings have no lift and some have tight stairs. A winch, from SAR 370, takes furniture out through a balcony or window and sets it on the ground or straight into the vehicle. It needs room in front of the building, a reachable facade and no cables in the way; otherwise we carry by hand and dismantle large items. Heavy pieces load first and nearest the cab, then mattresses and sofas, then boxes, and everything is strapped. That matters most on trips up to Al Hada or Al Shafa, where climbs and bends shift any loose load.

Which vehicle you need

A dabab, from SAR 45, handles a single room, a student’s belongings or a few pieces between districts. A wanet suits a fridge, washer or sofa, or a pick-up from a furniture showroom. A dyna covers a mid-size apartment and is the usual choice. A large closed truck is for a full villa, a move to another city, or furniture that needs protection from rain.

Dismantling and assembly

A carpenter is part of the crew on most moves. Beds, wardrobes and dressers are taken apart, screws bagged and labelled by piece, and the parts bundled together. At the new home bedrooms are assembled first, and wardrobe doors are adjusted until they close as before. Large locally made solid-wood wardrobes are heavy but handle dismantling well if treated carefully; particle-board units weaken each time, so we use as few steps as possible. Kitchens start from SAR 370, with the new wall measured before the old kitchen comes down. ACs start from SAR 140 per unit, with split units needing a technician to recover the gas. TVs, curtains and chandeliers can be mounted on request.

Included and extra

Included: dismantling and reassembling bedrooms and wardrobes, blanket and film wrapping, carrying, loading and unloading, transport within Taif, and placing furniture in its rooms. Extra: winch, kitchen, ACs, VIP packing and boxing, large outdoor seating, TV and curtain mounting, storage and post-move cleaning.

Worked example: Shihar to a villa in Al Wesam

A family in a three-bedroom, second-floor walk-up in Shihar moved to a small villa in Al Wesam. They had a heavy wooden master bedroom, two children’s rooms, an Arabic majlis, a dining table, an aluminium kitchen, two window ACs, a fridge and a washer. We sent a closed dyna because cloud was forecast for the afternoon, four movers and a carpenter, and no winch, since the second floor and fairly wide stairs did not need one. Dismantling, wrapping and loading took two and a half hours, the drive under half an hour, and unloading and assembly about two hours. The apartment starts from SAR 450, plus the kitchen from SAR 370 and each AC from SAR 140. Rain began after Asr, shortly after the last load went inside. In an open truck the whole majlis would have been soaked.

Before moving day

  • Empty wardrobes and drawers, or agree with us to pack them.
  • Switch off and dry the fridge a day ahead, and drain the washer.
  • Measure doors and entrances at the new home, especially for large sofas.
  • Check parking at both addresses.
  • Watch the forecast and tell us if rain is expected.
  • Decide which items go into which room.
  • Pack a first-night bag with clothes, medicine and chargers.

Keep out of the truck: gold, jewellery and cash; IDs, passports and contracts; daily or refrigerated medicine; gas cylinders, fuel and strong cleaning chemicals; and computers or drives with your files.

Questions to ask about a very low offer

Is dismantling and assembly included? Is the vehicle closed? How many workers, and is there a carpenter? What counts as extra? In Taif especially, an open truck on a cloudy day can cost you more than the whole price difference. An itemised quote is what protects you.

Storage, cleaning and common mistakes

If the new home is not ready, we keep your furniture wrapped in a dry, closed warehouse until you set a delivery date, and we can arrange optional cleaning of either home. Mistakes we see often in Taif: trusting a clear morning and booking an open truck, sending room photos without the stairs and street, leaving garden furniture until the last minute, not measuring villa doors, booking late at month end or the start of summer, and putting all the screws in one bag.

How the job runs

  1. You send both districts, floors and photos.
  2. We send an itemised quote and inspect if needed.
  3. We set a date with the weather in mind.
  4. Dismantling and wrapping.
  5. Loading by stairs, lift or winch, with the load strapped.
  6. Transport to the new home.
  7. Unloading and assembly, bedrooms first.
  8. A walk-through with you before we leave.

Moving between Taif and other cities

We also move to and from Taif, from Jeddah, Makkah, Riyadh, Al Baha and elsewhere, in closed trucks with dismantling and assembly. Jeddah to Taif starts from SAR 650 for a room or small load, and Riyadh to Taif from SAR 560, rising with volume. Share your addresses and a few photos on the quote request page and we will send your price.

Can you move furniture at midday in Taif?

For most of the year, yes, since it is milder than Jeddah and Makkah. In high summer we prefer mornings, and in winter we avoid the coldest pre-dawn hours.
