Furniture moving in Al Sharaye: why east Makkah is different
Al Sharaye is not a small neighbourhood. It is a large area in north-east Makkah crossed by King Faisal Road, taking in sections such as Al Khadra and Al Rashidiyah, with Lahyan and Al Ja’ranah to the north, Al Usailah and Al Mu’aisim to the west and Al Mughammas to the east. Many families moved here from the central districts because the plans offer land and villa sizes that simply are not available near the Haram. So most of our jobs here are one of two kinds: a family coming from an old quarter to a new home in Al Sharaye, or a family moving from one plan to another within it.
The streets are kinder than the old lanes, and a dyna or truck usually reaches the door. The challenges are different: the long drive to central Makkah, new buildings whose lifts have not been commissioned yet, dirt roads on the edges of some plans, and wind-blown dust in the open land. We plan around all of these before fixing a time.

| Al Usailah and Al Mu’aisim | Blocks close to the holy sites | Heavy traffic in season |
| Al Ja’ranah and Lahyan | Villas and rest houses on the city edge | Long distances, some unpaved side roads |
| Al Aziziyah and Al Naseem | Blocks with lifts, furnished flats | Tight parking outside buildings |
| Al Awali | Modern blocks and villas | Wide streets, lifts in most buildings |

What changes the price here specifically: distance (a move within Al Sharaye is shorter than one to Kudai or Wali Al Ahd), duplex staircases that slow down carrying bedrooms upstairs, a lift that exists but has not been handed over, an old kitchen going into a new wall of a different length, and villa majlis sets that double the number of sofas.
Worked example: Al Ma’abdah to a duplex in Al Sharaye
A family in a four-bedroom, third-floor walk-up in Al Ma’abdah moved to a new duplex in one of the Al Sharaye plans. The street in Al Ma’abdah is steep and narrow, and the duplex has an internal staircase to the bedrooms. The dyna waited on the main road while a dabab shuttled furniture from the building door in three runs. Five movers, a carpenter and an AC technician worked the job. The drive took thirty minutes to an hour depending on traffic, via the ring roads and King Faisal Road. In Al Sharaye the dyna parked at the door, and bedrooms went upstairs in pieces and were assembled there. Because it was a four-bedroom home the price was set after inspection, starting above the SAR 740 apartment base, with the dabab from SAR 230 and each AC from SAR 140. The whole job ran from morning to just before Isha. Had the family not sent a photo of their street, the dyna would have turned up alone at a lane it could not enter.
Villas and duplexes: dismantling and assembly

Duplexes force a certain order. Bedrooms are usually upstairs and the internal stairs are narrow and turning, so beds and wardrobes cannot go up whole. The carpenter takes them apart in a way that lets each part clear the stairs, numbers everything, and rebuilds quickly on the upper floor. If a sofa is too big for the turn, we find it a place downstairs or lift it through a balcony by winch. Villa majlis sets with floor seating and long cushions need little dismantling but careful wrapping and orderly loading. Kitchens are another matter: we measure the new wall before taking anything apart and tell you plainly whether it will fit as is. In new homes we also fit ACs into their prepared positions and mount TVs and curtains on request.
Packing for open, dusty plans

On the edges of Al Sharaye and Al Ja’ranah there is plenty of open land, and afternoon winds lift dust. Sofas and mattresses are wrapped fully in film, not just around the sides; drawers and doors are taped; and we use a closed dyna rather than an open one. Appliances get fabric blankets under the film, and glass gets bubble wrap with cardboard corners. If your new home has just been finished, clean the construction dust out before the furniture goes in. It is far harder to do around assembled furniture.
New buildings and winch lifting

Many new blocks in Al Sharaye and Al Awali have lifts, but some are not running when the first residents move in, or are too small for a wardrobe or a large fridge. A winch, from SAR 370, lifts items out through the balcony, and the wide streets here usually give it room to set up. Inside the dyna the heaviest pieces go first and nearest the cab, the load is strapped, and blankets sit between items, because the drive from the centre has plenty of junctions and turns.
Choosing a vehicle
A dabab or wanet suits a single room or a bachelor’s belongings in Al Aziziyah; a wanet alone handles one fridge, washer or sofa; a closed dyna fits a mid-size apartment within Al Sharaye; a large closed truck, or a dyna plus a second vehicle, takes a full villa; and an old-lane home moving to Al Sharaye needs a dyna plus a dabab for the shuttle.
What the price includes
Included: dismantling and reassembling bedrooms and wardrobes, blanket and film wrapping, carrying, loading and unloading, the agreed vehicle, and placing items in their rooms. Extra: winch, kitchen, ACs, VIP packing from SAR 140, boxing, TV and curtain mounting, storage and cleaning.
Roads and timing
Al Sharaye sits near the roads to the holy sites and the Al Sail road towards Taif, and Al Aziziyah and Al Usailah lie on the routes to Mina. At seasonal peaks these roads fill up and trucks are restricted on some of them, so book early and let us choose the permitted, quieter hours. On ordinary days the end of the month and the weeks before school are busiest. In summer we start close to dawn, because open plots in Al Sharaye get hotter than streets between packed buildings. In Ramadan most families prefer after Asr or at night.
Before the day, and what stays with you
- Send map pins for both homes, not just the district name.
- Confirm the new building’s lift is running, or tell us it is not.
- Clean construction dust from the new home first.
- Measure the duplex staircase and the entrances.
- Switch off and dry the fridge a day ahead, and drain the washer.
- Decide which rooms go upstairs.
Keep gold, jewellery, cash, IDs, passports, title deeds, leases, daily medicine and computers with you. Gas cylinders, fuel and strong chemicals do not travel with closed furniture loads.
Reading a very low offer
If one quote for a villa in Al Sharaye is far below the rest, ask whether it includes dismantling and assembly, how many workers come, whether the dyna is closed, and whether the upstairs floor is counted. With large villas, a low offer often means a small crew that cannot finish in a day, leaving the family a night among boxes.
Storage, cleaning and common mistakes
Families building their own homes in Al Sharaye sometimes need storage for weeks while finishing work wraps up. We store dismantled, wrapped furniture in a closed warehouse and deliver when the house is ready, and can arrange optional cleaning of either home. Mistakes we see often: relying on the plan name alone, assuming an unhanded lift will work, moving in before cleaning, forgetting that duplex stairs are narrower than building stairs, moving an old kitchen without measuring, and booking in season without allowing for road closures.
How the job runs
- You send both locations and photos of the home, street and stairs.
- We send an itemised price and inspect large villas.
- We set a time around traffic and the season.
- Dismantling and wrapping at the old home.
- Loading by stairs, lift or winch, with a dabab where lanes are tight.
- Transport to or from Al Sharaye.
- Unloading and assembly, bedrooms first.
- A final walk-through with you.
From Al Sharaye to other cities

Frequently asked questions
Can the dyna reach the newer plans on the edge of Al Sharaye?
Usually yes, the streets are wide, but some outer roads are unpaved and unsigned, so we ask for a map pin before the day.
How do bedrooms get upstairs in a duplex?
The carpenter takes beds and wardrobes apart so each part clears the internal stairs, numbers them and rebuilds upstairs. Anything that will not fit goes up by winch.
The lift in my new building is not running yet. What now?
Tell us in advance and we will bring enough crew for the stairs or use a winch, from SAR 370, depending on the floor and facade.
What does a villa move within Al Sharaye cost?
From SAR 1,400, rising with the number of majlis rooms, bedrooms, floors, kitchen and AC units. The final price follows an inspection.
I am moving from Al Ma'abdah and my street is narrow. Does that cost more?
A dabab may be added to shuttle furniture to the dyna, from SAR 230. It is cheaper and safer than carrying down a long slope.
Will my old kitchen fit the new house?
We measure the new wall before dismantling and tell you whether it fits or needs rearranging. Kitchen work starts from SAR 370.
Why clean the new home before moving in?
Newly finished homes in Al Sharaye hold construction dust. Furniture moved in before cleaning gets dirty, and floors are harder to clean afterwards.
Does the season affect moves in Al Aziziyah and Al Usailah?
Yes. These districts sit on routes to the holy sites, so roads fill and trucks are restricted at peak times. We book permitted hours.
Can you store furniture while my house in Al Sharaye is being finished?
Yes, dismantled and wrapped in a closed warehouse until the house is ready, priced by volume and duration.
What vehicle suits a bachelor moving in Al Aziziyah?
Usually a dabab or a wanet. A wanet trip starts from SAR 140 and covers a small room or a few appliances.
Do you move from Al Sharaye to Taif?
Yes, from Al Sharaye and all of Makkah to Taif, Jeddah, Madinah and other cities in closed trucks with dismantling and assembly.
