Furniture Moving in Al Aridhah | Staged Moves for Mountain Villages, Packing & Closed Trucks
Moving house in Al Aridhah is nothing like moving in Jazan or Sabya. The house may sit on a mountainside, the road up to it may be a string of climbing bends, and the last fifty metres may be stone steps no vehicle can reach. So for furniture moving in Al Aridhah, Al Saif starts every job with one question: how does the vehicle get to the house? Then we pick the right size of truck or pickup, decide how many hands are needed, and dismantle, pack, load and reassemble your furniture in the new home, within Al Aridhah or down to Abu Arish and Jazan. A room starts from SAR 230, a two-to-three-room home from SAR 420 and a villa from SAR 840, rising with volume, access and distance. Send photos of the house and the road to it through the quote request page.
⛰️ Moving between mountain and valley
- Photograph the road: a picture of the approach matters more to us than pictures of the rooms.
- Vehicles: a pickup or small dyna for the slopes, a large dyna on the main road, with transfers between them where needed.
- Rain and fog: in the rainy season we postpone rather than risk slippery climbs.
- Distance: about 65 km to Jazan via Abu Arish.
- From: 230 per room, 140 by wanet, 45 by dabab, 185 winch, 110 per AC.
The terrain and what it means for your move
Al Aridhah governorate lies in the east of Jazan region, bordered by Al Aidabi, Fifa and Al Dayer to the north, Abu Arish to the west and Al Harth to the south. The land mixes mountains such as Jabal Sala, Jabal Qais and Al Abadil, valleys such as Wadi Khumran with its kadi trees, and farmland on the flats in between. Road 140 links it to the main network towards Abu Arish and Jazan, and the mountain road to Al Hayjah climbs through the villages of Al Sayyabah and Al Daqiqah towards Fifa. A house in Al Aridhah town moves like any other house in the region. A house in a mountain village under the Qais, Al Humaira or Al Qasabah centres needs a different plan: a smaller vehicle, more labourers and more time for hand-carrying.

Access is the biggest price factor here: does the vehicle reach the door, or does furniture go up steps or a mountain path? If the big dyna cannot climb, we need a pickup or small dyna and more runs. Distance from the villages to town, or to Abu Arish and Jazan, counts too, as do large wardrobes that cannot be dismantled on narrow stairs, kitchens and ACs priced separately, and rain that can push the date back a day or more.
Centres and villages we reach
| Area | Examples | How we work |
|---|---|---|
| Al Aridhah town | Residential districts and plans around town | Closed dyna at the door in most cases |
| Qais centre | Villages on the slopes of Jabal Qais and nearby | Pickup or small dyna, sometimes hand-carrying |
| Al Humaira centre | Villages under the centre | We check the road and its state after rain |
| Al Qasabah centre | Villages and farms under the centre | Farmhouses with yards, usually easy parking |
| Al Hayjah road | Al Sayyabah, Al Daqiqah, up towards Fifa | Small vehicles, tight bends, daylight only |
Staged moving when the truck cannot reach the house
This is the method we use most in the mountain villages. The large closed dyna waits at a safe spot on the paved road, at the foot of the slope or the village entrance, and a pickup or small dyna shuttles between it and the house. The pickup is loaded with wrapped furniture at the house, comes down, transfers its load into the big truck where it is strapped, and goes back up. At the new home, if it is in town, the dyna parks right at the door. A small load is easier to secure on the bends, and the big truck stays off roads that do not suit it. It takes longer, but it is safer for the furniture and for the road.
Hand-carrying on steps and paths
Some houses cannot be reached even by a small vehicle, so furniture goes on the crew’s shoulders up stone steps or along a path between fields. We add labourers, dismantle everything that can be dismantled to lighten each piece, and use carrying straps for the fridge and washer. If a piece can neither be taken apart nor carried down the steps, we tell you before moving day so you can decide whether to move it or leave it.
Packing for mountain roads

Bends, climbs and descents mean more vibration and more rubbing between pieces, so packing here is heavier than in the coastal towns. There is an extra blanket layer between every two wooden pieces and thick cardboard corners on wardrobe and table edges. Glass and mirrors go into reinforced cartons and stand between mattresses rather than on the floor. Kitchenware gets dense paper in small, full cartons so nothing shifts inside. Appliances go in double-walled cartons with foam, the fridge stands upright and strapped, and mattresses go into sealed bags because rain or fog can roll in on the higher ground.
Dismantling and reassembly

We dismantle more here than in the cities, because every piece taken apart is a lighter load on the steps. Wardrobes come apart completely, beds into headboard, slats and legs, and even sofas with removable legs. Panels are numbered inside with their screw bags taped on. Kitchens come out after water and gas are shut off and photographed, from SAR 370, and ACs from SAR 110 per unit with gas recovery. At the new home bedrooms go up first, then the kitchen, then the majlis, so the house is ready to sleep in that same night.
Loading and Road 140

On mountain roads, strapping is never rushed. Heavy items low near the cab, panels standing and tied along the sides, cartons packed tight with no gaps, each row with its own strap. We check the straps again before the first steep descent, and the driver takes the downhill stretches slowly in low gear rather than relying on the brakes alone. The winch is used less in Al Aridhah because most homes are one or two storeys, but town apartment blocks or a large piece going up to a roof sometimes need it, from SAR 185.
Which vehicle suits your road?
A dabab (from SAR 45) for one or two items in town or a nearby village. A wanet (from SAR 140) for slopes and narrow roads, and as the shuttle vehicle in a staged move. A closed dyna (from SAR 230) for town, villages with wide road access and the drive to Abu Arish and Jazan. Two vehicles together, a pickup for the climb and a large dyna on the main road, priced after survey.
Example: a village in Qais to Al Aridhah town
A family lives in a hillside house in one of the Qais centre villages, reached by narrow climbing bends that end in about thirty stone steps. They are moving to a new ground-floor house in Al Aridhah town with two bedrooms, a floor majlis, a fridge and washer and two ACs; the small kitchen stays because the new house has one. The crew is a supervisor, a carpenter, five labourers for the long carry on the steps and an AC technician. A pickup climbs to the nearest point to the house while a closed dyna waits on the tarmac. Dismantling, packing and carrying run from dawn to mid-morning, three pickup runs fill the dyna, and assembly in town is done before sunset. The base starts from about SAR 780 (the house from 420, the helper pickup from 140, two ACs from 220), with the final price set once we have seen the road and steps.
Included and extra
The basic price covers bed and wardrobe dismantling and assembly, basic packing, cartons, loading, unloading, strapping and placing furniture. Extra on request: the helper vehicle in a staged move, kitchen, ACs, winch, VIP packing, curtains and TV, storage and cleaning.
Rain, fog and timing
The higher parts of Al Aridhah are cooler than the coast but get more rain, and fog can cover the peaks on wet days. We move on mountain roads in daylight only, check the weather the day before and postpone if rain is expected or the valleys are running. In summer we start early because the low ground and valleys get very hot after mid-morning. Month end and the days before holidays are the busy times, and in Ramadan we work in the morning.
Preparation and choosing a mover
- Photograph the road to the house and any steps, and send them with the room photos.
- Book at least a week ahead and leave behind what you do not need; every piece less is less to carry.
- Empty and unplug the fridge the day before.
- Keep gold, cash, documents and medicines with you; gas cylinders, fuel and farm pesticides do not travel with the furniture.
- If it rained overnight, check the road early in the morning.
In the mountains a cheap quote can cost you more: a driver who does not know the climbs, a large truck that cannot get up and leaves your furniture at the bottom, or two labourers who cannot carry a fridge down the steps. Ask how the vehicle will reach you, how many labourers are coming and whether assembly is included. To save, take less, dismantle light furniture yourself and pick a clear day.
Storage, cleaning and common mistakes
If the new home is not ready, we store furniture wrapped in a closed, ventilated space priced by volume and time, and can arrange cleaning before furniture goes in. Mistakes we see: booking a big truck without checking it can climb the road, not sending a photo of the steps and finding a piece that will not pass, moving on a slippery climb on a rainy day, light packing that cannot take the vibration of the bends, and removing ACs without gas recovery.
From Al Aridhah to Abu Arish, Jazan and other cities
We move from Al Aridhah to Abu Arish and Jazan along Road 140, about 65 km to Jazan, as a one-day job, and also to Sabya, Al Aidabi, Al Dayer, Fifa and the rest of the region on regional rates plus distance. For other cities, Jeddah to Jazan starts from SAR 1,020 for a small load and SAR 1,680 for an apartment and Riyadh from SAR 1,850, with the extra distance to Al Aridhah added. We run the reverse direction too.
Sending urgent items by air
King Abdullah Airport in Jazan is about 80 km from Al Aridhah. From there, documents, devices and a few cartons can fly as domestic air cargo to the nearest airport in one to two days, charged on actual or volumetric weight (L × W × H ÷ 6000), whichever is greater. The furniture travels by road.

Frequently asked questions
What if the truck cannot reach my house in a mountain village?
We do a staged move: the large truck waits on the paved road and a pickup or small dyna shuttles the furniture between it and the house.
Why do you ask for a photo of the road?
Access decides the vehicle, the crew size and the price in Al Aridhah, and photos of the road and steps prevent surprises on the day.
Do you carry furniture up and down stone steps?
Yes. We add labourers, dismantle everything possible to lighten pieces and use carrying straps for the fridge and washer.
Do you move during the rainy season?
On clear days and in daylight only. We postpone when rain is expected or the valleys are running rather than risk slippery climbs.
How much is a two-room move from a mountain village?
From SAR 420, plus a helper pickup from SAR 140 if a staged move is needed; the final price follows a look at the road.
Is packing different for mountain roads?
Yes. More blankets between wooden pieces, thick corner guards and full cartons so contents do not shift with the vibration.
Do you reach the villages on the Al Hayjah road towards Fifa?
Yes, with small vehicles and in daylight only, through Al Sayyabah and Al Daqiqah.
How far is Al Aridhah from Jazan?
About 65 km via Abu Arish, so the move and assembly fit in one day.
Will I need a winch in Al Aridhah?
Rarely, since most homes are one or two storeys, but some town apartment blocks need it, from SAR 185.
What if a piece will not fit down the steps?
We tell you before moving day so you can decide whether to move it another way or leave it, rather than finding out that morning.
Can urgent items be flown from Al Aridhah?
Yes, through Jazan airport about 80 km away, in one to two days on actual or volumetric weight. Furniture goes by road.
