What moves the price
- Annexes and yards: many villas have an outdoor annex and a yard storeroom, and their contents count toward the volume.
- Farms and rest houses: a house among olive trees outside town adds distance and sometimes a dirt track.
- Floor and stairs: apartment blocks are fewer than villas here, but a third floor without a lift needs the hoist or extra hands.
- Kitchen and ACs: a full kitchen from SAR 370 and each AC from SAR 115 are the largest add-ons.
- Time of day: on dusty or very cold days we may split the work into two sessions, agreed before we begin.
Where we move in and around Sakaka
| Zone | Places | How we plan it |
|---|---|---|
| Residential districts | Al Shalhoub, Al Hada, Al Laqa’it, Al Muhammadiyah, Al Farouq, Al Sawalha, Al Matar, Al Rabwah, Al Rawdah, Al Nasiriyah, Al Nafl, Al Dhil’, Al Siddiq | Priced by home size; the truck usually reaches the door |
| Around Al Jouf University | Student and staff housing | Pickup or dabab for students, dyna for staff families |
| Farms and rest houses | Olive and palm farms around the city | We ask about the last stretch of road and may shuttle with a smaller vehicle |
| Elsewhere in Al Jouf | Dumat Al Jandal, Tabarjal, Al Qurayyat | Priced by distance once we know the volume |
Dumat Al Jandal is close to Sakaka, and many families move between the two for work or to live near relatives. We treat it as a local move with a longer drive and usually finish it in a day.
Al Jouf weather: cold, dust and heat
Sakaka is a northern city, and its winter is colder than people from the south expect. Early mornings drop sharply, hands go numb and steps can be slippery, so rather than starting at dawn we wait until the sun is up. Summer flips the plan: afternoons are hot, so loading happens first thing.
Spring is the season of wind and dust. A dust storm gets into every gap, so mattresses, sofas and clothes are fully wrapped, the truck door is closed between loads, and the hoist pauses when the wind picks up because a hanging load swings. Electronics stay in sealed cartons that are only opened inside the new home.
Moving farms and rest houses
Many families in Al Jouf have a house in town and a farm or rest house outside it, and sometimes the move is between the two: a family deciding to live at the farm, or bringing the rest-house furniture back home before winter. These moves have their own details. The last stretch may be a dirt track between rows of olive trees, the gate may be too narrow for a large truck, and rest-house contents tend to be floor seating, cushions, big cooking pots, generators and farm tools.
We ask about the gate width and the track before the day. If it is tight, we bring a smaller dyna or shuttle to the large truck on the paved road. Tools and generators are kept apart from furniture in the truck, and generator fuel is drained before loading. Young olive trees in pots can ride upright at the front of the truck if you ask, tied in place, as long as the trip is not in a summer midday.
Dabab, pickup, dyna or truck

- Dabab (from SAR 45): one or two items between districts, or furniture from the showrooms.
- Pickup (from SAR 140): boxes, light loads and students’ belongings.
- Closed dyna (from SAR 185): an apartment or small house; the closed body matters on dusty days.
- Large closed truck: villas, and moves to Dumat Al Jandal, Al Qurayyat or distant cities.
We load heaviest to lightest: fridges, washers and wardrobe panels on the floor, then sofas and mattresses, then boxes, each row strapped.
Packing, olive oil and special items

Al Jouf homes often hold something you will not find everywhere: tins and bottles of olive oil from the family farm or the market. They are heavy liquids, and a spill ruins whatever is near. We check the lids, wrap them in plastic and stand them upright low in the truck, away from cushions and clothes, with nothing heavy placed over them. Stored dates get the same care. The rest is our usual method: strong cartons for dishes and books, bubble wrap for glass and screens, blankets for wood with stretch film over them, corner guards for mirrors, and the room name on every carton. For fine sets or ornaments, the VIP add-on starts from SAR 140.
Dismantling and assembly

The carpenter dismantles bedrooms and wardrobes, bags the fittings in numbered bags taped to each piece, then rebuilds them at the new home and adjusts doors and drawers. If you only need the carpenter, for a new bedroom set for example, he starts from SAR 140 per room. Kitchens are taken down and refitted from SAR 370, measured first. ACs move from SAR 115 per unit. In winter you may not need the ACs straight away, but heaters and water heaters matter more, so tell us about any fixed heating you want moved.
Hoist and upper floors
The hoist is used for buildings with no lift, or when a villa’s inner staircase is too tight for a big wardrobe or corner sofa. We set it from the street to the balcony or window and raise items slowly, strapped, from SAR 185. We do not run it in strong wind or on icy ground on a winter morning.
Included and extra
- Included: crew and truck inside Sakaka, standard bedroom work, basic packing and cartons, placing items in their rooms.
- On request: hoist, kitchen, ACs, fixed heaters, VIP packing, farm and nearby-town moves, curtains and TV mounting, storage and cleaning.
Worked example: Al Hada flat to Al Muhammadiyah villa
A family of five in a three-bedroom flat on a third floor with no lift in Al Hada moved to a villa in Al Muhammadiyah. They had a master bedroom with a large wardrobe, two children’s rooms, a majlis, a lounge, a full kitchen, four ACs, a fridge, a freezer, a washer, six tins of olive oil and about thirty boxes. It was winter, so five movers, a carpenter and a technician started at 9 a.m.; loading finished around 1 p.m. and assembly before the evening, with a large closed dyna and the hoist for the wardrobe and sofas. The price started from SAR 1,385: flat SAR 370, kitchen SAR 370, four ACs SAR 460 and the hoist SAR 185.
Preparation checklist
- Unplug and dry the fridge and freezer a day ahead.
- Seal oil and liquid containers, or carry them yourself.
- Photograph the cables behind the TV and router.
- Send the new location and describe the road if it is a farm.
- Watch the forecast; if dusty wind is due, ask us about shifting a few hours.
- For a winter move, keep warm clothes and a heater ready for the first night.
What does not go in the truck
Gold, cash, IDs, title deeds and farm contracts; daily medicines; gas cylinders, heater fuel and kerosene; and farm pesticides and chemical fertiliser. These travel in your car or are arranged separately.
When to move in Sakaka
Autumn and early spring, before the windy season, are the comfortable times. Month-end is busy as always, and so is the start of the school year when new staff and students arrive at the university and schools. The olive harvest keeps farm owners busy, so plan around it if you are one of them. In Ramadan we work mornings or after Taraweeh.
The cheap-quote trap
A very low price usually hides something: no carpenter, an open vehicle on a dusty day, or “stairs” and “distance” charges that appear at the end. Ask any mover exactly what the price includes, what vehicle they use, whether the kitchen and ACs are counted and who covers damage, and get the answer in a message before agreeing.
Storage and cleaning
If the new home is not ready, we store your furniture wrapped in a closed, dust-protected warehouse and deliver on request, priced by volume and time. We can also arrange cleaning of the new home before move-in or the old one after, as an optional extra.
Common mistakes
- Packing oil tins among cushions and clothes.
- Forgetting the annex and yard storeroom when asking for a price.
- Starting on an icy winter dawn on slippery steps.
- Leaving cartons open on a dusty day.
- Relying on a verbal agreement.
Steps of the job
- Send photos and both addresses.
- We review and ask about annexes, farm access and floors.
- We send the price with what it covers and book a weather-friendly slot.
- The crew packs, dismantles and labels.
- We load, strap and close the truck.
- We unload and place every item.
- We assemble and check with you before leaving.
Moving from Sakaka to other cities
We run long-distance moves to and from Sakaka in closed trucks. Riyadh to Sakaka (about 1,000 km) starts from SAR 1,500 for a room, SAR 1,680 for a mid-size apartment and SAR 2,600 for four to five rooms. Jeddah to Sakaka (about 1,250 km) starts from SAR 1,400 for a room and SAR 2,300 for an apartment. We move in the reverse direction too, and to Dumat Al Jandal, Tabarjal, Al Qurayyat, Tabuk and Hail after a survey.
Sending urgent items by air
Because the road from Sakaka to Riyadh or Jeddah is long, you may need some boxes or papers before the furniture arrives. We send them as domestic air cargo through Al Jouf airport to the airport nearest your destination in one to two days, charged on actual or volumetric weight (L × W × H ÷ 6000), whichever is greater. The furniture itself goes by road.
Send photos of your home through the quote request page and we will pick a day and hour that suit the Al Jouf weather.
