Furniture Moving from Riyadh to Hofuf | Delivery to Al Kout, Al Rifa’a and New Districts with Assembly
Hofuf is not one address where a truck simply pulls up and unloads. It has the old quarters of Al Kout, Al Rifa’a and Al Na’athil with their lanes around Al Qaisariya souq, and it has wide new districts such as Al Muhandiseen, Al Murooj, Al Khalidiyah and King Fahd. So when Al Saif handles furniture moving from Riyadh to Hofuf, the first question we ask is your district, not your number of rooms. We dismantle and pack in Riyadh, load a closed truck, cover roughly 330 km in about 3.5 to 4.5 hours, and reassemble everything in your Hofuf home. A room or small load starts from SAR 470, and a 2–3 bedroom apartment from SAR 840. Start on our quote request page and send a few photos.

Furniture moving from Riyadh to Hofuf: how the day runs
This is one of the shorter Riyadh–Eastern Province routes, so most moves are done in a single day. The crew arrives shortly after dawn, takes down beds and wardrobes, wraps sofas and appliances, and loads. A three-bedroom flat takes around three to four hours; a villa longer. The truck leaves before noon, arrives in Hofuf in the afternoon, and unloading and assembly start straight away.
A large home, or one with a fitted kitchen and several AC units to install, may run into the next morning. We do not squeeze assembly into a couple of rushed hours; a wardrobe put together in a hurry starts leaning within weeks.
Distances from Riyadh
| Destination | Approx. distance | Truck driving |
|---|---|---|
| Central Hofuf | about 330 km | 3.5 – 4.5 hours |
| Al Qarah and Al Jafr (east of Hofuf) | about 340 – 350 km | 4 – 4.5 hours |
| Al Mubarraz | about 335 km | 3.5 – 4.5 hours |
| Al Uqair on the coast | about 400 km | 4.5 – 5.5 hours |
Prices for furniture moving from Riyadh to Hofuf
| Home size | Price from | Usual vehicle |
|---|---|---|
| One room or a few items | SAR 470 | Closed dyna or shared load |
| 2 – 3 bedroom apartment | SAR 840 | Large closed dyna |
| 4 – 5 room house | SAR 1,300 | Closed truck |
| Villa | SAR 1,850 | Large truck, sometimes two trips |
The price rises with volume, floor and distance. Add-ons at Al Ahsa rates: a transfer dyna inside Hofuf from SAR 140, winch from SAR 185, carpentry from SAR 140 per room, kitchen dismantling and refitting from SAR 370, and split AC from SAR 115 per unit.
Included in the base price: dismantling and assembly of beds and standard wardrobes, wrapping with film, cardboard and blankets, loading and unloading, the closed truck, driver and fuel. Kitchens, AC units, winch, storage and post-move cleaning are agreed separately before the day, so nothing surprises you on arrival.
Why two homes of the same size can cost differently: a fourth-floor walk-up in Riyadh is not a ground-floor flat; a house in Al Muhandiseen where the truck parks at the door is not a house down a lane in Al Rifa’a that needs a transfer dyna. Number of ACs, kitchen type and heavy items such as safes or gym machines all change the figure.
The Khurais road
The shortest link between Riyadh and Hofuf is the Khurais road. The truck leaves eastern Riyadh, runs about 150 km to the settlement of Khurais, then about 160 km more to the western entrance of Hofuf. The road crosses the red dunes of the Dahna and is mostly open desert, with fewer services than the Dammam highway, so our driver fills up before leaving Riyadh and stops at Khurais to rest and check the load.
The alternative is the Riyadh–Dammam highway and then south toward Al Ahsa, which we use when a shared load drops part of its cargo in Abqaiq or Dammam. Both roads have routine traffic checkpoints that need nothing from you.

Hofuf districts: where can the truck stop?
We sort Hofuf into three practical types.
Historic core
Al Kout, Al Rifa’a and Al Na’athil are the old nucleus of the city, surrounded by older districts like Al Salhiyah, Ain Musa, Al Mazrou’iyah and Al Fadhiliyah. Some houses sit in lanes a big truck cannot enter, and streets near Al Qaisariya souq and Qasr Ibrahim get busy at shopping hours. We park on the nearest main road, shuttle items with a small dyna or trolleys, and pick the morning or late afternoon rather than market peak.
Middle districts
Areas such as Al Salmaniyah, Al Thulaithiyah, Al Usaylah and Al Rawdah have older family houses and two- or three-storey buildings. The street usually fits a large dyna, but tight staircases mean wardrobes go fully flat and sofas come apart where possible.
New districts
Al Muhandiseen, Al Murooj, Al Khalidiyah, King Fahd, Al Bandariyah, Al Aziziyah, Al Zahra, Al Hufayrah and Al Shuhaibiyah. Wide streets, many villas and duplexes, and the truck parks at the door. The challenge is usually upper floors with a narrow internal stair, solved by winching through a balcony or the roof.
| District type | Examples | Usual delivery method |
|---|---|---|
| Historic | Al Kout, Al Rifa’a, Al Na’athil, Al Salhiyah | Transfer dyna or trolleys |
| Middle | Al Salmaniyah, Al Thulaithiyah, Al Rawdah | Large dyna, extra dismantling |
| New | Al Muhandiseen, Al Murooj, Al Khalidiyah, King Fahd | Truck at the door, winch for upper floors |
We collect from every part of Riyadh. East Riyadh (Al Naseem, Al Rawdah, Al Rayyan, Al Nadheem) is closest to the exit; north (Al Narjis, Hittin, Al Qairawan), west (Al Suwaidi, Dhahrat Laban) and south (Al Shifa, Al Dar Al Baida) are all covered.
Packing for a desert run
Three and a half hours of steady vibration and, in summer, serious heat. Candles, perfumes and pressurised cans come out of the boxes. Glossy wooden furniture gets a blanket before film, so the plastic does not stick to the finish in the heat. Glass is boxed in reinforced cardboard and stands upright. Dishes are wrapped one by one in small boxes labelled with the room they will be opened in. Mattresses go into full plastic bags, because fine Dahna dust finds any gap.

Loading and truck choice
We use closed trucks on this route; sand and sun are the enemies of sofas and mattresses. Heavy appliances go in first against the cab, flat-packed wardrobes stand along the sides, then sofas, then boxes, with straps tightened row by row. If delivery is in an old quarter that needs a transfer dyna, we load in reverse order of entry, so whatever goes into the house first sits by the doors and half the truck never ends up on the street.
A shared load suits a single room, a student or a bachelor’s belongings: you share the truck with another customer heading to Al Ahsa, pay less, and agree an arrival time. A full home gets its own truck.

Dismantling and assembly
The same crew takes apart and puts together. Beds first, then wardrobes, then majlis and tables, and each box goes to the room written on it. If the day runs long, kitchen and AC installation can be booked as a separate visit. Some older Hofuf houses have walls that need a different fixing method for wardrobes and TVs, so the carpenter decides once he sees the wall.
Weather on the route
Summer is very hot on the Khurais road, so we avoid driving at midday: load at dawn and leave early, or set off in late afternoon. Wind can lift sand across the Dahna and cut visibility, and the driver slows down or waits it out. Winter is far milder; a passing shower can make the road slick for a short while, and the closed truck keeps the load dry.
Sending urgent items by air
If you need a couple of boxes of documents or electronics in Hofuf before the furniture, we can send them as domestic air cargo from King Khalid International in Riyadh to Al Ahsa International Airport and on to your address, usually within 1–2 days. Charges use actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher; volumetric weight is L × W × H in cm ÷ 6000, so a 50 × 40 × 30 cm box counts as 10 kg. This is for a few items only; furniture goes by road, and on a route this short the road is quick anyway.
A real example: Al Suwaidi to Al Rifa’a
A family in a third-floor four-bedroom walk-up in Al Suwaidi, west Riyadh, decided to move back to the family house in Al Rifa’a, Hofuf, which sits down a lane the big truck cannot enter. The load was three bedrooms, a floor-seating majlis, a dining table, two fridges, a washer, two split ACs and about 40 boxes. We used a closed truck from Riyadh and a transfer dyna in Hofuf, shuttling from the main road to the door in two runs. We started at 6 am, left at 10:30, arrived around 2:30 pm, and finished unloading and assembly before the evening prayer. The 4-room move starts from SAR 1,300, plus the transfer dyna from SAR 140 and the ACs from SAR 115 each, so about SAR 1,670 as a starting point before inspection.
Mistakes we see on Hofuf moves
- Giving the district name but not describing the street, so a large truck arrives at a lane it cannot enter.
- Booking delivery at peak hours near Al Qaisariya.
- Leaving perfumes and aerosols in boxes in summer.
- Accepting an open truck because the trip is “short”.
- Having nobody ready to receive in Hofuf when you travel after the truck.
Checklist and what stays with you
- Send us the Hofuf location pin and a photo of the street.
- Empty and dry the fridge the day before.
- Take clothes out of wardrobes and bag or box them.
- Pack a small first-night bag.
- Tell your Riyadh building guard the moving date.
Gold, cash, official documents and daily medicines travel with you. We do not carry gas cylinders, fuel or flammables.
Insurance and storage
Insurance for valuable pieces is available on request, with a list and values agreed before loading. If your Hofuf house is not ready yet, perhaps still under renovation, we store your furniture and deliver on the date you choose.
Booking steps
- Send photos and both locations via the quote page.
- We confirm the price, the truck, and whether a transfer dyna is needed in Hofuf.
- We arrive in the morning to dismantle, pack and load.
- We drive the Khurais road and keep you in touch with the driver.
- We unload, assemble and arrange the rooms.
- You check every item and sign off.
Hofuf back to Riyadh
We also move from Hofuf and the rest of Al Ahsa to Riyadh with the same method, and cover the other Eastern Province cities and the whole Kingdom.
