Furniture Moving from Riyadh to Jeddah | Dismantling, Packing, Closed Trucks and Reassembly

Mu’assasat Al Saif handles furniture moving from Riyadh to Jeddah as one complete job: we dismantle beds, wardrobes and the kitchen in Riyadh, pack each item with the right material, load a closed truck, drive roughly 950 km along the Riyadh–Makkah expressway, then unload and reassemble everything in your new home in Jeddah. The drive alone takes about 10 to 12 hours including rest stops, and the whole job, from the first box to the last screw, usually runs two to three days. Prices start from SAR 560 for a single room or small load and from SAR 1,120 for a two- or three-bedroom apartment, rising with volume, floor level and distance. Send us photos or book a free survey through our quote request page and you get one clear final figure.

Furniture moving from Riyadh to Jeddah: what to know before you book

Almost everyone moving to Jeddah asks us the same three things: how much, how long, and will my furniture arrive the way it left? The first two are numbers you will find in the tables below. The third comes down to two things only: how the furniture is packed and how the load is built inside the truck. A trip of nearly a thousand kilometres is nothing like a move across the neighbourhood. The truck spends hours on a highway, crosses the dry heat of Najd, climbs towards the Hijaz highlands and ends in Jeddah’s coastal humidity. So we plan it like a small project: one day to prepare, one day on the road, and enough time to set the house up properly.

The prices on this page are starting points. The final figure is fixed after we see your furniture, either in person or in photos, because a heavy solid-wood bedroom with a six-door wardrobe is a very different job from a student room with a bed and a small desk. Whatever we agree in the quote is what you pay; nothing new appears at the unloading stage.

The route, stage by stage

The truck leaves Riyadh westbound on the Makkah road, part of Highway 40 that links the east of the Kingdom with the west.

West Riyadh to Al Quwaiyah

After the western exit the road crosses the Tuwaiq escarpment and runs on to Al Muzahmiyah and then Al Quwaiyah. It is mostly straight with heavy truck traffic. In summer we prefer to cover this stretch early in the morning or late afternoon so the load does not sit through the hottest hours.

Halban and Dhalm to Al Muwayh and Radwan

Next come Halban, the Dhalm and Ruwaydah governorates, then Al Muwayh and Radwan. Towns are far apart and fuel stations are spaced out, so the driver plans stops ahead. Dusty winds are common here, which is one reason we insist on a fully closed truck.

Taif outskirts, Al Sail Al Kabir and the Jeddah road

The highway approaches Al Hawiyah east of Taif and descends towards Al Sail Al Kabir. Heavy trucks use the Al Sail road, not the Al Hada descent. From there the route continues towards Makkah and then follows the ring roads onto the Makkah–Jeddah expressway into eastern Jeddah. There are routine checkpoints along the way; as long as the driver’s and truck’s papers are in order, nothing is needed from you.

A realistic timeline

  • Day one, morning: packers and a carpenter arrive, rooms and kitchen come apart, boxes are filled. For a three-bedroom flat this takes five to seven hours.
  • Day one, afternoon: loading, stacking and strapping. We send you a photo of the load before the doors close.
  • Night of day one or dawn of day two: departure. In summer we prefer to drive at night.
  • Day two: arrival in Jeddah and agreeing an unloading time that suits your building.
  • Day two or three: unloading and assembly, beds and wardrobes first so you can sleep, then the kitchen, ACs and curtains.

A large villa may need two days of preparation in Riyadh and sometimes travels in two trucks together.

Packing for a thousand-kilometre trip

On a long route packing protects against hours of vibration and rubbing, against dust, and against the jump from Riyadh’s dry air to Jeddah’s humidity.

Packers wrapping sofas and bed frames in moving blankets before a Riyadh to Jeddah furniture move

  • Sofas: stretch film, then a thick moving blanket, then an outer layer of film to hold the blanket.
  • Wooden surfaces: corrugated board on faces, corner guards on edges.
  • Glass, mirrors and marble: bubble wrap, then a fitted crate or heavy-duty carton, carried upright.
  • Mattresses: sealed mattress bags.
  • Crockery: double-wall cartons, each plate paper-wrapped, never overfilled.
  • TVs: original box if you kept it, otherwise a padded carton with nothing stacked above it.

Every box is numbered and marked with the room it goes to in Jeddah, so the crew knows where to put it without asking you each time.

Securing the load

Heavy pieces such as the fridge, washer and dismantled wardrobes go in first against the front wall and are strapped to the truck’s anchor rails. Mattresses and sofas follow as cushioning between layers, and boxes are stacked into a tight wall. Empty space inside a truck is where breakage happens, because the load shifts every time the driver brakes.

Loading in Riyadh: floors, hoists and parking

Before moving day we ask about the floor, the lift and where the truck can park. Villas in Al Malqa, Al Narjis and Hittin are usually easy to reach. Older buildings in Al Malaz, Al Sulaimaniyah and Al Olaya often have tight stairwells and small lifts that will not take a wardrobe or a three-seater sofa, and that is where a hoist earns its fee.

A hoist in Riyadh starts from SAR 185 and lifts pieces straight from the balcony to the truck, saving hours and sparing the stairwell walls. If your building needs management approval or a lift booking, we fix the time early so the truck is not left waiting.

Closed or open truck, full or shared load?

An open dyna under a tarpaulin is fine for a short local move. On a road this long it leaves furniture exposed to sun and blowing sand. A closed box truck stays sealed for the whole trip, and that is our standard for every Riyadh to Jeddah job.

A full load means the truck is yours alone, leaves when agreed and drives straight to your door. A shared load suits a single room or a few appliances and boxes: it costs less, but departure depends on the truck filling up, which can take a day or more. We tell you that up front.

Dismantling in Riyadh, reassembly in Jeddah

  • Beds, wardrobes and dressing tables are taken apart; mirrors are wrapped separately.
  • Sliding wardrobes lose their doors and tracks before moving, which protects the hinges.
  • If possible we measure the Jeddah kitchen before dismantling, since wall lengths often differ, and tell you in advance what may need trimming.
  • Split ACs are removed so the gas stays in the outdoor unit, then refitted and tested in Jeddah.
  • Curtains and wall-mounted TVs can be put back up once you choose their places.

Each room’s screws go into a labelled bag taped to one of its panels.

Pickup areas in Riyadh, delivery areas in Jeddah

Area Districts we often serve What we watch for
North Riyadh Al Malqa, Al Narjis, Hittin, Al Yasmin, Al Sahafa, Al Aqiq Large villas, wide streets
East Riyadh Al Rawdah, Al Rayyan, Al Naseem, Al Yarmouk, Al Hamra, Al Rimal Mid-rise buildings, some without lifts
West and south Riyadh Al Suwaidi, Dhahrat Laban, Al Uraija, Al Shifa, Al Aziziyah Busy streets at peak hours, narrow lanes in places
North Jeddah Obhur North and South, Al Shati, Al Muhammadiyah, Al Naeem, Al Safa, Al Marwah Towers and villas, some gated compounds
Central Jeddah Al Rawdah, Al Zahra, Al Salamah, Al Faisaliyah, Al Andalus Older buildings, limited parking
East and south Jeddah Al Samer, Al Hamdaniyah, Al Manar, Al Jamiah, Al Ajwad Newer residential areas near the Makkah road

For corniche towers and gated compounds, ask management early about unloading hours and the service lift.

Weather on the road

One trip, three climates: hot dry Najd, highlands near Taif that can bring fog or rain in season, and humid Jeddah. We drive at night in summer, keep electronics in padded cartons, never carry candles, cosmetics or medicines in the truck, and unwrap wooden furniture during assembly so moisture does not collect under the film. If wind or rain gets heavy, the driver stops somewhere safe; a few hours’ delay is better than risking the load.

Sending urgent items by air

Furniture always goes by road. But sometimes you need a few boxes before the truck arrives: school clothes, work files, a computer. We send these as domestic air cargo from King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh to King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, usually within one to two days. Air cargo is charged on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher; volumetric weight is length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000. A 60 × 40 × 40 cm box counts as 16 kg even if it only weighs 9 kg, so we use boxes that fit their contents. Send the box count and sizes through the quote page for a price.

Insurance and storage

Good packing protects furniture in normal conditions. For antiques, imported pieces or valuable electronics, insurance is available on request; we list the items and their condition before loading. If your Jeddah home is not ready yet, we can hold the furniture, still wrapped, in a Jeddah warehouse and deliver when you get the keys. Storage is priced by volume and duration.

Worked example: three bedrooms from Al Yarmouk to Al Samer

A family of five on the third floor in Al Yarmouk, east Riyadh, with no lift big enough for large pieces, moved to a ground-floor flat in Al Samer, east Jeddah. They had a master bedroom, two children’s rooms, a majlis, an L-shaped sofa, a wooden kitchen, fridge, washer and oven, two split ACs and about thirty boxes. One medium closed truck carried it all. Four movers, a carpenter and an AC technician worked in Riyadh from eight in the morning until mid-afternoon; the hoist brought down the wardrobe and sofa, and the truck left after the evening prayer. It arrived at noon the next day; bedrooms went up first, the kitchen and ACs the following morning. The move started from SAR 1,120, plus kitchen from SAR 370, hoist from SAR 185, AC removal from SAR 115 per unit and installation in Jeddah from SAR 140 per unit, with the final figure set from the family’s photos.

Checklist before moving day

  • Empty, unplug and dry the fridge and freezer at least a day before.
  • Disconnect the washer and ask us to lock the drum.
  • Box seasonal clothes and mark them “open later”.
  • Get rid of what you will not use in Jeddah; it costs space on the truck.
  • Pack a travel bag with clothes, chargers, papers and children’s things.
  • Confirm your Jeddah handover date and the building’s unloading hours.
  • Photograph valuable pieces before packing.

Never put in the truck: gold, jewellery and cash, passports and contracts, daily medicines, gas cylinders and flammables.

Common mistakes

  • Picking a very low offer without asking what it includes; it often means an open dyna, no carpenter, or assembly charged in Jeddah.
  • Leaving packing to the last night.
  • Arriving before the Jeddah keys are handed over.
  • Moving furniture worth less than its transport cost.
  • Leaving heavy items like a safe out of the quote.
  • Booking late at the end of the month or between school terms, when demand rises.

How the job runs

  1. You send a request with photos or book a survey.
  2. We set truck size, crew and extras, and give you the final price and date.
  3. The Riyadh team dismantles, packs, labels, loads and straps.
  4. You get a photo of the load and updates during the drive.
  5. We arrive in Jeddah and agree the unloading time.
  6. Boxes go to their rooms, then beds, kitchen and ACs are reassembled.
  7. We take away the packing materials and check the pieces with you.

Jeddah to Riyadh as well

We run the route both ways at the same starting prices, and we also move between Riyadh and Dammam, Taif, Madinah, Abha and other cities. If your move is coming up, photograph your rooms and send them over; we will reply with the truck size, crew, timing and final price. Request your quote now.

Frequently asked questions

How far is Riyadh from Jeddah by truck?

About 950 km on the Riyadh–Makkah expressway, roughly 10 to 12 hours of truck driving including stops.

How long does a full apartment move take?

Usually two to three days: one day to dismantle, pack and load, then the drive, then unloading and reassembly in Jeddah.

What does a three-bedroom move cost?

From SAR 1,120 for a 2–3 bedroom apartment with full service, rising with volume, floor level and extras such as the kitchen and ACs.

Can you move just one room?

Yes, a single room or small load starts from SAR 560 and can travel as a shared load to keep the cost down.

Why a closed truck instead of an open dyna?

The road is long, hot and dusty; a closed truck keeps sun, sand and rain off the furniture for the whole trip.

Is the kitchen included?

Kitchen dismantling and installation is a separate service from SAR 370, and we measure the new space first where possible.

Can you deliver to Makkah or Taif instead?

Yes. Makkah, Taif, Thuwal and Rabigh start from the Jeddah figures, adjusted for the extra distance.

What if my Jeddah home is not ready?

We store the furniture wrapped in a Jeddah warehouse and deliver once you have the keys; storage is priced by volume and time.

Can a few boxes go ahead by air?

Yes, urgent boxes and documents fly as domestic cargo from Riyadh to Jeddah in one to two days, charged on actual or volumetric weight.

Is insurance available?

Insurance for valuable items is available on request; we record them and their condition before loading.

When should I book?

Book early before month-end and before school terms start; in summer we prefer night driving to spare the load the heat.
