Furniture Moving from Riyadh to Dammam | Humidity-Ready Packing, Closed Trucks and Full Assembly
Riyadh to Dammam is one of the shorter intercity moves between the Kingdom’s big cities, but it is still not a local job. At Mu’assasat Al Saif we handle furniture moving from Riyadh to Dammam as a full service: we dismantle and pack in Riyadh, load a closed truck, cover about 400 km on the Dammam expressway in roughly 4 to 6 hours of truck driving, then unload and reassemble in your new home. A small load can be finished in a single day; an apartment usually takes a day and a half to two days. Prices start from SAR 470 for a room and from SAR 840 for a two- or three-bedroom flat, rising with volume, floor level and distance. Book a free survey or send photos through our quote request page.

Furniture moving from Riyadh to Dammam: distance, time and price
People moving to Dammam have usually taken a job in the Eastern Province, been transferred to a company office there, or are going home to family after years in Riyadh. Either way they want to know two things: what it will cost and when they can sleep in the new house. Because the distance is moderate, the truck covers it in half a day; the real time goes into preparation.
Kilometres are only part of the price. Volume matters more, and so do the buildings at both ends: is there a lift in Riyadh, is the Dammam home on the ground floor or in a building on the Corniche, is the kitchen coming too? That is why we ask for photos or a survey and then give you one all-in figure that does not change on the day unless the furniture does.
Riyadh to Dammam moving prices
| Home size | From | Likely vehicle |
|---|---|---|
| Room or small load | SAR 470 | Closed dyna or shared load |
| 2–3 bedroom flat | SAR 840 | Medium closed truck |
| 4–5 bedroom flat or floor | SAR 1,300 | Large closed truck |
| Villa | SAR 1,850 | Large truck or two trucks |
Delivery to Khobar, Dhahran, Qatif and Jubail starts from roughly the same figures, since they sit on the same road network.
What changes the figure
- Actual volume: a big majlis and built-in style wardrobes change the truck size more than the room count does.
- Third floor and above without a lift means a hoist or more labour time.
- Kitchen and AC work are priced separately.
- Glass, marble, chandeliers and antiques need extra packing.
- Month-end and the start of school holidays are busy; booking early gets you the day you want.

Can it all be done in one day?
We hear this question on this route more than any other. It depends on size.
Small load, usually yes. A bedroom with a fridge, washer and some boxes: packing in the morning, loaded before noon, in Dammam by mid-afternoon, bed and wardrobe up before night.
Two or three bedrooms, a day and a half. Day one is dismantling, packing and loading until late afternoon, then the drive. We avoid unloading into an apartment building late at night out of respect for neighbours and building rules, so unloading and assembly happen the next morning and are usually done by midday.
Large floor or villa, two days. A full day of preparation in Riyadh, the drive in the morning, and unloading and assembly on day two, often with a separate assembly team waiting in Dammam.
The Dammam expressway: what the truck passes
The truck leaves east Riyadh on the Dammam road past Al Nadhim and Al Rimal and is soon out of the city. Most of the road is a dual carriageway with three lanes each way, carrying heavy truck traffic between the capital and the Eastern Province’s ports and factories.

- Leaving Riyadh: flat open country before the sand belt.
- Al Dahna: a band of red dunes the road cuts through; in wind, sand drifts across the asphalt and the driver slows down.
- Al Summan plateau and beyond: long straight stretches with rest areas and fuel stations.
- Approaching the east: junctions for Abqaiq and Al Ahsa, then the road joins Dammam’s network and continues to Khobar, Dhahran, Qatif and Jubail.
Routine checkpoints are part of the trip; the truck’s papers are always in order, so nothing is needed from you.

| Khobar | about 420 km | 4.5–6 hours | SAR 840 |

| Ras Tanura | about 460 km | 5–6.5 hours | SAR 840 |

Dammam neighbourhoods and what they mean for the move
| Area | Districts | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Old central Dammam | Al Adamah, Al Badiyah, Al Dawasir, Al Qazzaz | Older buildings and tighter streets; we may transfer to a smaller dyna |
| Coast and north | Al Shati Al Gharbi, Al Shati Al Sharqi, Al Faisaliyah, Al Noor | Villas, duplexes and newer buildings with lifts |
| West Dammam | Al Faihaa, Al Nuzha, Al Rayyan, Al Aziziyah, Taibah | Family flats and mid-size villas |
| South Dammam | King Fahd Suburb, Al Shulah, Al Nada | Newer, spread-out residential plans |
In Riyadh we collect from anywhere: villas in Al Malqa, Al Narjis and Al Arid, flats in Al Rawdah, Al Naseem and Al Rayyan, buildings in Al Suwaidi, homes in Al Aziziyah and Al Shifa. East Riyadh districts sit close to the Dammam road exit, which cuts the time spent leaving the city.
Packing for Eastern Province humidity
Riyadh is dry, Dammam is humid, especially in summer and near the sea. Wood and leather react to the change, and plastic film left on wood for days in damp air traps moisture.

- Cotton moving blankets go directly on wood, with film on the outside, never underneath.
- Corrugated board on glossy surfaces and guards on edges.
- Sealed bags for mattresses and cushions.
- Double-wall cartons for kitchenware, glassware wrapped piece by piece.
- Screens and mirrors travel upright in padded cartons.
- On arrival we remove wrapping during assembly rather than leaving it on.
Stacking for a long straight road
A straight road still vibrates for hours, and an unsecured load drifts. Heavy items go at the front on the floor and are strapped, gaps are filled with mattresses and sofas, heavy boxes go low and light ones high. A box of plates never sits on a box of books.
Loading and hoists at both ends
We ask about the floor, lift and parking in Riyadh and again in Dammam. Buildings in Al Shati and Al Faisaliyah are mostly newer; in Al Adamah and Al Badiyah stairwells can be narrow and lifts small.

A hoist starts from SAR 185 in Riyadh and Dammam. If a large truck cannot get into a narrow street in central Dammam, we transfer to a smaller dyna at the nearest point; a local Dammam dyna starts from SAR 140.
Closed truck, full or shared load
Every Riyadh to Dammam move goes in a closed truck. The Dahna is sandy, summers are hot, and a tarpaulin on an open dyna does not keep dust out. A full load means the truck is yours and leaves on schedule, which suits flats and villas. A shared load suits a single room or a few appliances: it costs less and departs once the truck fills. Demand on this route is steady, so the wait is usually shorter than on remote routes.
What comes apart in Riyadh and goes back together in Dammam
- Beds and wardrobes are dismantled, mirrors removed, screws bagged and numbered per room.
- Children’s furniture and desks are often chipboard that tolerates few assembly cycles; we handle it carefully and tell you if a piece is unlikely to survive.
- Kitchens are dismantled, units numbered, and the Dammam wall measured first where possible.
- Split ACs are removed so the gas stays in the unit, refitted and test-run in Dammam, from SAR 115 per unit each way.
- Curtains, TVs and light fittings go back up wherever you choose.
Weather on the Dammam road
Summer means heat on the road and high humidity on arrival, so we load early or in the evening and never leave the truck standing in the sun. Wind in the Dahna can cut visibility; the driver stops at a rest area if needed. Winter mornings near the coast can bring fog, and we wait for it to lift. Eastern Province rain is infrequent but can be heavy; the sealed box protects the load, and we delay unloading if a downpour hits on arrival.
Sending urgent items by air
Furniture goes by road. If you need work files, a computer or children’s clothes the day you land, a few boxes can fly as domestic cargo from King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh to King Fahd International Airport in Dammam within one to two days. The airport sits well northwest of the city, so we include collection time from it. Charges are based on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher, with volumetric weight = length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000; a 50 × 40 × 30 cm box counts as 10 kg. Send box counts, sizes and weights through the quote page.
Insurance and storage in Dammam
Insurance for valuable furniture, antiques and electronics is available on request, with items listed and their condition noted before loading. If your Dammam home is not ready, we store everything wrapped in a Dammam warehouse and deliver and assemble once you have the keys. Storage is priced by volume and time.
Worked example: a five-bedroom floor from Qurtubah to Al Shati Al Gharbi
An employee transferred to Dammam; the family lived on a first floor with a small lift in Qurtubah, east Riyadh. The home had a master bedroom, three children’s rooms, a guest room, a majlis, a living room, an aluminium kitchen, three split ACs, two fridges, a washer and about forty boxes. The new home was a villa in Al Shati Al Gharbi. A large closed truck took the lot; the big sofa and main wardrobe came down by hoist. Five movers, a carpenter and an AC technician worked from morning until late afternoon, loading finished by sunset, and the truck left at dawn. It arrived before noon; bedrooms and kitchen were up by afternoon, ACs by evening. The move started from SAR 1,300 for a 4–5 bedroom home, plus kitchen from SAR 370, hoist from SAR 185, and ACs from SAR 115 per unit for removal and the same for installation, with the final price set from photos.
Before moving day
- Switch off, empty and dry the fridge a day ahead.
- Close the washer taps and disconnect it.
- Pack books, clothes and light items yourself; leave heavy and fragile pieces to us.
- Empty drawers of small and breakable things.
- Decide what is not coming; worn-out furniture still takes space.
- Talk to building management in both cities about lifts and loading hours.
- Keep a two-day bag with clothes, chargers, toiletries and papers.
Never in the truck: gold, jewellery and cash; passports, contracts, deeds and certificates; daily medicines; gas cylinders and flammables.
Mistakes we often see
- Thinking “it’s only four hours”, so an open dyna will do. Sand and heat say otherwise.
- Choosing the lowest quote without asking whether it covers dismantling, assembly, a closed truck and the kitchen.
- Leaving a steel cabinet or a big marble dining slab out of the quote.
- Not checking with building management, so the truck waits or late unloading is refused.
- Running the fridge until the morning of the move, so it leaks on the load.
- Booking late at month-end.
How we work
- You send a request with room photos or book a free survey.
- We set truck size, crew and extras and give you an all-in price and date.
- The Riyadh team dismantles, packs, numbers boxes by room in the new house, loads and straps.
- The truck drives the Dammam road and we tell you the arrival time.
- We unload and place every piece in its room.
- Bedrooms, kitchen and ACs are reassembled; curtains and TVs are hung if you ask.
- Packing waste is removed and we check the pieces with you.
