Furniture Moving from Riyadh to Al Kharj | One-Day Move with Dismantling, Assembly and Closed Dynas
Moving from Riyadh to Al Kharj feels more like a move across a big city than a trip between two cities: roughly 80 km, an hour to an hour and a half on the road, and the whole job starts and finishes on the same day. Al Saif handles furniture moving from Riyadh to Al Kharj from any Riyadh district: we dismantle, pack and load, drive to Al Seeh and the Kharj districts or to Al Hayathim, Al Salamiyah, Al Yamamah and nearby towns, and reassemble every piece before we leave. Because the distance is short, prices sit close to in-city Riyadh rates: one room from SAR 280, a 2–3 bedroom apartment from SAR 600, and a villa from SAR 1,120. Send photos via our quote request page and we will reply with the cost.
🚚 A one-day move from the capital to Al Kharj
- Distance: about 80 km on the Riyadh–Kharj road.
- Road time: 1 – 1.5 hours for a loaded dyna.
- Whole day: 5 – 9 hours for an average flat, from first screw out to last screw in.
- From: SAR 280 one room, SAR 600 for 2–3 rooms, SAR 840 for 4–5 rooms, SAR 1,120 for a villa.
Furniture moving from Riyadh to Al Kharj: how long does it take?
We arrive at your Riyadh home in the morning. A three-bedroom flat takes about two to three hours to dismantle, pack and load, then an hour to an hour and a half on the road, then two to three hours to unload and assemble in Al Kharj. The family sleeps in the new house that night with beds built and wardrobes standing. A large villa may need two dyna trips or a bigger truck, but usually still finishes the same day if we start early.
That is the key difference from long routes: no overnight truck, no heavy long-haul packing, and no big jump in cost because of distance.
Prices for furniture moving from Riyadh to Al Kharj
| Home size | Price from | Usual vehicle |
|---|---|---|
| One room | SAR 280 | Wanet or small dyna |
| 2 – 3 bedroom apartment | SAR 600 | Closed dyna |
| 4 – 5 room house | SAR 840 | Large dyna or closed truck |
| Villa | SAR 1,120 | Truck or two dyna trips |
The price rises with volume, floor and distance within Al Kharj. Separate services at Riyadh and Kharj rates:
| Service | From |
|---|---|
| Winch for upper floors | SAR 185 |
| Carpenter dismantling and assembly (per room) | SAR 140 |
| Kitchen dismantling and refitting | SAR 370 |
| Split AC removal and installation (per unit) | SAR 115 |
| Premium packing for delicate pieces | SAR 140 |
What pushes the price up: a fourth-floor walk-up in older Riyadh districts such as Al Batha and Al Malaz, a villa with a narrow internal staircase that needs the winch, a large fitted kitchen, the number of ACs, and a destination far inside the governorate. Dismantling a few pieces yourself or having boxes packed before we arrive can bring it down.
Included: dismantling and assembly of beds and standard wardrobes, basic packing, loading and unloading, vehicle and driver. Extra: kitchen, ACs, winch, storage and cleaning of either home after the move.
Which vehicle do you need?
On long routes we almost always choose a closed truck. For Al Kharj the choice is wider, and getting it right saves money:
| Vehicle | When it fits |
|---|---|
| Wanet (pickup) | A student’s or single employee’s room, or a few appliances like a fridge and washer. |
| Dabab | One bedroom set with a few items; sometimes used for odd pieces. |
| Closed dyna | A two- or three-bedroom flat; the standard choice on this route. |
| Large closed truck | A villa or large house, to avoid two trips. |
An open dyna works for yard furniture or storeroom gear, but not for sofas and mattresses, even for an hour; dust and sun reach them quickly.
The road south
The main route is the Riyadh–Kharj expressway, leaving south-east Riyadh heading south: a wide dual carriageway that carries plenty of trucks in the morning. For customers in south-west Riyadh we may take the Al Hair road south instead, depending on location and traffic. Both have fuel stations, and you may pass a routine traffic checkpoint that needs nothing from you.
Traffic matters more than distance here. Leaving Riyadh at morning or afternoon rush hour can add half an hour or more, so we load early and set off before noon, or after the commute peak.

Distances from south Riyadh
| Destination | Approx. distance | Road time |
|---|---|---|
| Al Seeh (Al Kharj city) | about 80 km | 1 – 1.5 hours |
| Al Yamamah and Al Salamiyah | about 85 – 95 km | 1 – 1.5 hours |
| Al Hayathim | about 90 – 100 km | 1.25 – 1.75 hours |
| Al Dilam (neighbouring governorate) | about 110 km | 1.5 – 2 hours |
From north Riyadh, add roughly half an hour to cross the city.
Pickup and delivery areas
South and east Riyadh (Al Shifa, Badr, Al Aziziyah, Al Mansuriyah, Al Dar Al Baida, Al Naseem) are closest to the Kharj road, often under an hour away. From the north (Al Malqa, Al Narjis, Al Arid) we allow for crossing the city and start earlier; from the west (Al Suwaidi, Laban, Tuwaiq) we sometimes use the Al Hair road.
In Al Kharj we deliver across Al Seeh districts such as Al Aziziyah, Al Khalidiyah, Al Nahdah, Al Andalus, Al Rayyan and Al Faisaliyah, and to the towns and centres of the governorate, including Al Yamamah, Al Salamiyah, Al Hayathim, Al Sahba, Al Badi’ and Al Rufayi’. Many homes are villas and detached houses with yards, and newer districts have wide streets. Farm houses around Al Kharj are common and may sit on dirt tracks, so we ask for a photo of the access before the day.
Packing for a short run: what is actually needed
An hour on the expressway does not need the heavy packing we use for Jeddah, but it does not mean loading furniture bare either. There is vibration, there can be sudden braking, and dust gets in. Sofas and mattresses get film against dust and rubbing. Glass, mirrors and TVs travel upright in reinforced cardboard. Dishes are paper-wrapped in small boxes. Wardrobes are dismantled and doors secured or removed. Screws go into numbered bags. For new furniture or valuable pieces, premium packing starts from SAR 140.

Loading, and own vehicle or shared
Heavy items go in first, dismantled wardrobes stand along the sides, and straps are tightened. Because the distance is short, we often give a home its own vehicle even for a mid-sized load; the cost difference is small and arrival is faster. A shared load suits someone moving a room or a few items who does not mind the vehicle stopping at another Kharj address.

Dismantling and assembly on the same day
The big advantage of this route is that the crew dismantles and assembles without a break, so screws never sit in bags overnight. In Al Kharj we build beds first, then wardrobes, then majlis and tables, and the technician fits the kitchen and ACs the same day if time allows, or the next morning. If your new Kharj home still needs curtains hung or TV brackets fixed, the carpenter can do it under the carpentry item.
Do you need air cargo?
No. On long routes we sometimes suggest flying a few urgent boxes ahead, but Al Kharj is an hour away and everything arrives with you the same day. Anything urgent can simply ride in your own car.
Weather and timing
Summer middays in Riyadh and Al Kharj are very hot; loading under that sun is hard on the crew and on some items, so we start early. On dusty days visibility drops on the road and we delay departure a little. Month-end and the start of school breaks are busy, so book a few days ahead. In Ramadan we work mornings and after Asr, avoiding the hour before iftar.
A real example: Badr to Al Salamiyah
A couple in a second-floor two-bedroom walk-up in Badr, south Riyadh, moved into an annex at the family house in Al Salamiyah, Al Kharj. The load: one bedroom set, a seating area, a small table, fridge, washer, one split AC and about 20 boxes. We sent a closed dyna with three movers. We started at 8 am, left at 10:30, arrived before noon, and had everything assembled and the AC running by about 3 pm. The flat starts from SAR 600 and the AC from SAR 115, about SAR 715 as a starting point before inspection.
Checklist
- Send both map pins, plus a photo of the access if the Kharj home is on a farm.
- Empty the fridge the night before.
- Take clothes out of wardrobes.
- Pack small boxes yourself if you want to save time.
- Make sure power and water are connected at the new house.
Gold, cash, documents and medicines stay in your car. We do not carry gas cylinders, fuel or flammables.
Avoiding the lowest-offer trap
Because the trip is short, this route attracts very low offers that turn out, on the day, to cover only the vehicle and driver. Before accepting any offer, ours included, ask four questions: are dismantling and assembly included? Is the vehicle closed? How many movers are coming? Is there an extra charge for floors or distance inside Al Kharj? A serious company answers clearly before the day, rather than negotiating at your door with the furniture on the street. We send you what the price includes before moving day, and if anything changes after the survey, we tell you before we start.
Common mistakes
- Underestimating the trip and accepting an open dyna for sofas and mattresses.
- Leaving at rush hour and losing half the day on the road.
- Not checking the farm-house access in advance.
- Arriving before electricity is connected, so the fridge and AC cannot run.
- Accepting an offer without assembly, leaving wardrobes in pieces.
Storage and cleaning
Valuable items can be insured on request. If your Kharj home is still being finished, or you get its keys a week after leaving your Riyadh flat, we store the furniture and deliver when it is ready. On request we can also arrange cleaning of the Riyadh flat you are handing back, or of the new Kharj home before the furniture goes in, priced separately.
How it works
- Send photos and both locations via the quote page.
- We confirm the price and the right vehicle.
- We arrive in the morning to dismantle, pack and load.
- We drive to Al Kharj.
- We unload and assemble the same day.
- You check and sign off.
Al Kharj back to Riyadh
We also move from Al Kharj, Al Hayathim, Al Salamiyah and Al Yamamah to any Riyadh district, the same way and in one day, and we cover moves to the rest of the Kingdom.

Is a Riyadh to Al Kharj move done in one day?
Usually yes. The road takes 1 to 1.5 hours and an average flat takes 5 to 9 hours from dismantling to assembly.
Why is Al Kharj cheaper than other cities?
It is only about 80 km, with no overnight truck or long-haul packing, so prices sit close to in-city Riyadh rates.
Is a wanet enough for my room?
Yes for a student's or single employee's room or a few appliances, from SAR 280.
I live in north Riyadh. Does that change the price?
It adds about half an hour to cross the city, which we factor in and start earlier.
Do you deliver to Al Hayathim, Al Yamamah and Al Salamiyah?
Yes, and to Al Sahba, Al Badi', Al Rufayi' and the other Kharj centres.
My house is on a farm near Al Kharj. Can the dyna reach it?
Send a photo of the track. If it is unpaved or narrow we use a smaller vehicle or shuttle from the gate.
When is the right time to leave Riyadh?
Load early and leave before noon or after the commute peak to avoid city traffic.
Do I need air cargo for anything?
No. Everything arrives the same day; carry anything urgent in your own car.
Can you fit ACs and the kitchen the same day?
Yes if time allows, otherwise the next morning. ACs from SAR 115 per unit, kitchens from SAR 370.
How do I know a low offer has no hidden costs?
Ask whether dismantling and assembly are included, whether the vehicle is closed, how many movers come, and whether floors or distance cost extra.
Can you clean my Riyadh flat after we leave?
Yes, on request, as an optional service priced separately.
Do you move from Al Kharj to Riyadh?
Yes, from Al Kharj and its towns to any Riyadh district in one day.
