Furniture Moving from Riyadh to Qatif | Door-to-Door to Saihat, Tarout and Safwa

Furniture Moving from Riyadh to Qatif | Door-to-Door to Saihat, Tarout and Safwa

Qatif is less a single city than a cluster of neighbouring towns along the coast and among the palm groves: Saihat, Anak and Qatif itself, Tarout Island with Darin and Sanabis, and Safwa, Al Awamiyah and Al Qudaih to the north. So the first thing we ask is which town and which street. Mu’assasat Al Saif handles furniture moving from Riyadh to Qatif as a complete service: we dismantle and pack in Riyadh, load a closed truck, drive about 430 km in roughly 5 to 6 hours, reach your door even if it sits in a narrow lane in an old town, and reassemble everything. A room starts from SAR 470 and a two- or three-bedroom flat or house from SAR 840, rising with volume, floor level and distance. Get a price through our quote request page.

🌴 From Riyadh to the towns of Qatif and Tarout Island

  • Distance: about 430 km to Qatif, a little more or less for Saihat, Safwa or Tarout.
  • Driving: 5–6 hours for a truck with a stop.
  • Narrow lanes: we shuttle from the big truck by dyna or dabab at the lane entrance.
  • From: SAR 470 room, SAR 840 for 2–3 bedrooms, SAR 1,300 for 4–5 bedrooms, SAR 1,850 villa.

Furniture moving from Riyadh to Qatif: time, price and what is included

The route is the Dammam expressway, turning north before Dammam. Driving takes 5 to 6 hours; the whole job is one day for a small load and a day and a half to two days for a house. The price includes dismantling, packing, loading, transport, unloading and assembly, and is fixed after photos or a survey.

What makes the difference in Qatif is reaching the door. Homes in newer districts are easy to park outside. In the old quarters of Qatif, Tarout and Safwa, lanes cannot take a large truck, and family houses may have an inner courtyard and a narrow staircase. We find this out before moving day, not on arrival.

Qatif’s towns and how we reach each one

Town or area Approx. distance from Riyadh Delivery conditions
Saihat about 420 km Closest to Dammam, mostly newer districts and wide streets
Anak about 425 km Residential area between Saihat and Qatif
Qatif city about 430 km Newer districts plus an old town with narrow lanes around the old fort area
Tarout, Darin and Sanabis about 440 km Island linked by road, tight lanes in old Tarout
Al Qudaih and Al Awamiyah about 440 km Family houses near the farms, mixed inner streets
Safwa about 445 km North of Qatif, newer districts and an old town
Al Jish, Umm Al Hamam, Al Jarudiyah about 435 km Towns west of Qatif, ground-level homes and farm roads

Prices start from the same figures across all these towns; the difference comes from access, not the few kilometres between them.

Narrow lanes and shuttle moves

In old Tarout and parts of old Qatif and Safwa a large truck cannot enter the lane, and if it did it could not turn. Our approach: the closed truck parks on the nearest main road; furniture goes to the door in batches by dabab (from SAR 75) or small dyna (from SAR 140); light items and boxes are hand-carried if the distance is short; and we agree a temporary spot with neighbours or the owner for pieces waiting to go in. Before the date we ask for a photo of the lane and entrance or a map pin, so we know how many runs to plan and have the small vehicle ready.

The road from Riyadh to Qatif

The truck leaves east Riyadh on the Dammam road, crosses the Dahna sands and the Summan plateau, and passes the Abqaiq and Al Ahsa junctions. Before entering Dammam it turns north on the Dammam–Abu Hadriyah expressway and takes the exits for Saihat, Qatif or Safwa depending on your address. Tarout is reached from Qatif by the road across the water.

Checkpoints are routine and need nothing from you. We stop at least once to rest the driver and check the straps, which matters in summer.

Timeline

Morning in Riyadh for dismantling, packing and loading; departure in the afternoon and arrival in the evening. We do not unload at night in the old towns: lanes are dark and shuttle runs need daylight. Unloading, any shuttling and assembly happen the next morning. A small load to Saihat or a newer district with easy parking can be done in a single day.

Packing against coastal and farm humidity

Qatif is humid, especially in homes near the sea and the farms, and wood from dry Riyadh suffers if left sealed under film.

Mattresses and wooden furniture wrapped in blankets and bags before moving from Riyadh to Qatif
  • Cotton blankets on wood, film on the outside only.
  • Sealed bags for mattresses and cushions.
  • Double-wall cartons for crockery and glass.
  • Extra wrapping for pieces that will be shuttled by dabab, since they are handled more than once.
  • Wrapping comes off during assembly, never left on.

For a shuttle move we load in logical batches: dismantled beds and wardrobes together, then appliances, then boxes. Heavy items are strapped at the front and mattresses fill the gaps.

Loading in Riyadh, hoists at both ends

In Riyadh a high floor without a suitable lift calls for a hoist from SAR 185. In Qatif a hoist works for homes the truck can park beside; in narrow lanes we carry by hand up the stairs.

Closed truck, full or shared load

Closed trucks are our standard here because the Dahna is sandy and summers are hot. A full load suits houses and flats and arrives at a set time. A shared load suits a room or a few appliances heading east; it costs less and leaves once the truck fills.

Dismantling and assembly in Qatif homes

Bedrooms, wardrobes and kitchens are dismantled in Riyadh with screws numbered per room. In large family houses your furniture may be split across two floors or an annex, so we ask for a simple sketch of the rooms and mark every box with its destination. ACs are fitted and tested, and the kitchen space is measured before dismantling where possible.

Weather

Summer is hot on the road and very humid in Qatif, so we load early and avoid unloading at midday. Dahna winds can lift sand; the driver stops when needed. Winter morning fog is common near the coast and farms, and we wait for visibility. After rain some lanes hold water, so we postpone shuttle runs until they dry.

Sending urgent items by air

Furniture goes by road. If you need a few boxes sooner, such as work papers, clothes or devices, they can fly as domestic cargo from King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh to King Fahd International Airport in Dammam and on to Qatif within one to two days. Charges are based on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher; volumetric weight = length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000, so a 60 × 50 × 40 cm box counts as 20 kg. Send details through the quote page.

Insurance and storage

Valuable items can be insured on request once listed with their condition before loading. If your Qatif house is still being renovated or finished, we store the furniture wrapped in an Eastern Province warehouse and deliver when it is ready, priced by volume and time.

Worked example: four bedrooms from Dhahrat Laban to old Tarout

A family living on a four-bedroom ground floor in Dhahrat Laban, west Riyadh, returned to the family house in old Tarout. The house is down a lane the truck cannot enter, with bedrooms upstairs via a narrow staircase. They had four bedrooms, a floor-seating majlis, a living room, a wooden kitchen, three ACs, fridge, washer and about forty boxes. On day one we dismantled and packed in Riyadh, loaded a large closed truck, left in the afternoon and reached Qatif by evening. On day two the truck parked on the main road, a dabab made seven runs to the door, the crew carried the dismantled beds up the stairs, and we assembled the rooms, kitchen and ACs. The move started from SAR 1,300 for 4–5 bedrooms, plus kitchen from SAR 370, ACs from SAR 115 per unit and the lane dabab from SAR 75, with the final figure set from photos of the lane and entrance.

Before moving day

  • Send us the house location and photos of the lane and entrance.
  • Agree where the big truck can park, asking neighbours if needed.
  • Prepare a simple room sketch of the new house.
  • Empty and unplug the fridge a day ahead.
  • Pack light items yourself; leave heavy and fragile pieces to us.
  • Keep gold, cash, documents and medicines with you; no gas cylinders or flammables in the truck.

Common mistakes

  • Not mentioning the narrow lane in the quote, so no small vehicle is ready.
  • Unloading at night in an old town.
  • Leaving wood wrapped in film for days in the humidity.
  • Taking the lowest quote without checking it covers shuttling and assembly.
  • Mixing up towns in the address, so the truck heads for Safwa when the house is in Saihat.

How the job runs

  1. Send furniture photos and the Qatif location through the quote page.
  2. We set the truck and crew, plus any dabab or dyna shuttle, and give you the price.
  3. We dismantle, pack and load in Riyadh.
  4. The truck sets off and we tell you the arrival time.
  5. We unload directly or by shuttle, depending on the lane.
  6. We assemble rooms, kitchen and ACs and take away the packing waste.
