Furniture Moving from Riyadh to Hail | Closed Trucks via Qassim with Packing & Assembly
The road to Hail is a two-stage trip: about 350 km from Riyadh to Qassim, then roughly 270–300 km north until the truck enters Hail between the Aja and Salma mountains. Al Saif handles furniture moving from Riyadh to Hail end to end: we dismantle and pack in Riyadh, drive a closed truck about 620 km, then unload and reassemble in your Hail home that evening or the next morning. A room or small load starts from SAR 930 and a two- or three-bedroom apartment from SAR 1,300, rising with volume, floors and distance. Send photos through the quote request page for a price after a free survey.
⛰️ Hail trip card
- Distance: about 620 km via Qassim.
- Truck driving: around 7 to 8 hours including rests.
- Delivery: same evening for small loads, usually next morning for full homes.
- From: SAR 930 a room, 1,300 an apartment, 1,850 for 4–5 rooms, 2,400 a villa.
- Winter: Hail nights are cold, so we schedule unloading in daylight.
A realistic timeline for furniture moving from Riyadh to Hail
The first question is usually whether you will sleep in the new home that night. It depends on size. A loaded truck needs seven hours or more for 620 km, in addition to dismantling and loading in Riyadh. So we normally plan it like this:
| Stage | Small load or apartment | Large home or villa |
|---|---|---|
| Dismantle, pack, load in Riyadh | morning of day one, 3–4 hours | all of day one, or the evening before |
| Road | noon to evening | leave in the evening or at dawn on day two |
| Unload and assemble in Hail | evening, or next morning if arrival is late | day two, morning to afternoon |
We would rather not start assembling a whole villa after 10 p.m. at the end of a long day; tired crews forget screws and hang wardrobe doors crooked. For a big home we suggest a night in a hotel or with relatives and a calm, properly assembled handover the next morning.
Distances in and around Hail
| Destination | Approx. distance | Truck driving from Riyadh |
|---|---|---|
| Hail city | about 620 km from Riyadh | 7–8 hours |
| Mawqaq | about 70 km west of Hail | 8–9 hours |
| Al Ghazalah | about 105 km south-west of Hail | 8–9 hours |
| Baqaa | about 100 km north-east of Hail | 8–9 hours |
| Jubbah | about 100 km north of Hail | 8–9 hours |
The route north
Stage one is the Riyadh–Qassim expressway through the Sudair area. In Qassim we usually take the first break for prayer and fuel and to check the straps, because three and a half hours is enough to show up anything that has shifted. Stage two is the Qassim–Hail road, heading north across open country, sand and scattered villages, with fewer stations than the first stretch, so the tank is filled before leaving Qassim. Approaching Hail you see Aja to the west and Salma to the east, and the truck enters the city from the south. Routine highway checkpoints need only the driver’s and truck’s papers for a household load.

Hail winters and road weather
Hail gets properly cold in winter, with nights that can drop close to freezing and occasional rain. Cold does little harm to furniture itself, but it matters for a few things: fluids in appliances, TVs switched on while still cold, and mirrors and glass moving from a cold truck into a heated house. Let screens and electronics sit at room temperature for an hour or two before switching them on. In winter we unload in daylight so the crew is not working on an exposed staircase in the dark. In summer the challenge is midday heat on the road, so we leave early and the closed truck protects wood and leather. On windy days sand can blow across the road near the dunes and the driver slows down.
Prices for furniture moving from Riyadh to Hail
| Home size | From |
|---|---|
| One room or small load | SAR 930 |
| 2–3 bedroom apartment | SAR 1,300 |
| 4–5 room home | SAR 1,850 |
| Villa | SAR 2,400 |
The price rises with volume, floors and distance within Riyadh and Hail, and surrounding towns such as Mawqaq, Al Ghazalah and Baqaa add the extra distance. Add-ons in Hail start from SAR 185 for a hoist, SAR 370 for kitchen work, SAR 115 per AC unit and SAR 140 per room for carpentry. VIP packing for antiques and special glass starts from SAR 140.
What drives the cost on this route
- Overnight or not: next-morning delivery includes the crew’s overnight stay, which is usually better value than a rushed late-night assembly.
- Actual volume: wardrobes, majlis sets and appliances, not just room count.
- Floors: a third floor with no lift at either end.
- Shared load: a few items riding with another Hail-bound truck cost less.
Packing and securing for 620 km
Hail is not just three hours further than Buraidah; the load runs two roads and stops more than once, and every stop and start pushes the cargo back and forth. So packing is heavier on this route:
- Every wooden piece gets two layers, bubble wrap then rigid board, with extra corner guards.
- Wardrobe doors and drawers are taped with residue-free tape or removed and wrapped separately.
- Mirrors and glass tops go between two card sheets and travel upright.
- Kitchenware goes in divided cartons with paper fill, never overpacked.
- Appliances are wrapped in blankets and the washer drum is locked.

Loading and strapping
We build the load row by row: heavy items on the floor against the front wall, mattresses as a buffer, heavy cartons, sofas, then light items above. Each row is ratchet-strapped to the truck’s anchor points and gaps are filled with blankets and cushions so nothing has room to slide. At the first break in Qassim the driver opens up and checks the straps are still tight.

Whole truck or part of one?
A full home in its own truck means a fixed date and a direct run. A few items, say a single employee’s furniture or a University of Hail student’s room, can join a Hail-bound truck for less, with timing tied to that trip. Either way the truck is closed; 620 km of sun or rain is no place for household furniture.
Pickup in Riyadh, delivery in Hail
In Riyadh we collect from the north (Al Malqa, Hittin, An Narjis, Al Arid, Al Qairawan), the east (Al Rawdah, An Naseem, Al Rayyan, Al Munsiyah), the west (Dhahrat Laban, Al Suwaidi, Namar), the south (Al Shifa, Al Aziziyah, Badr) and the centre (Al Malaz, Al Olaya, Al Sulaimaniyah). Northern districts are closest to the Qassim road.
| Area of Hail | Districts | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Centre and south | Al Wusaita, Al Nuqra | established neighbourhoods, some tighter streets near the markets |
| East | Al Matar, Al Jamiyin, Al Mahatta | newer homes and apartments, usually easy truck access |
| North | Al Aziziyah, Al Badiya, Salah Al Din | villas and duplexes; we ask where the truck can park |
| West and north-west | Aja, Sababa | we send the receiver a photo of the truck so they can spot it |
We also deliver to Al Muzaabar, Al Badnah and other districts, and to Mawqaq, Al Ghazalah, Baqaa, Jubbah and nearby towns, with timing set by distance.
Unloading and assembly
The supervisor calls an hour before arrival. The crew carries pieces to each room and starts with the beds, then wardrobes and dining table, putting each carton in the room written on it and counting them with you. If a sofa will not fit the stairs, the hoist comes in. If you want AC units fitted before winter or summer, book them with the move so the technician is part of the same appointment.
Sending urgent items by air
If you start work in Hail before the furniture arrives, a few cartons, documents or a laptop can go as domestic air cargo from King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh to Hail International Airport within one to two days. Pricing is on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher, with volumetric weight = length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000. A 70 × 45 × 30 cm suitcase of winter clothes counts as about 16 kg. Sofas, wardrobes and appliances stay on the truck.
Worked example: Al Rawdah to Al Matar district
An employee transferred to Hail with his wife and two children lives in a third-floor, three-bedroom apartment in Al Rawdah, east Riyadh, with a small lift. He has rented a first-floor unit in Hail’s Al Matar district. The load: a master bedroom, children’s room, guest room, three-piece sofa set, dining table, fridge, washer, two TVs and about 35 cartons; no kitchen, as the new place has one.
- Quote: by photos, on the apartment tier from SAR 1,300; the sofa will not fit the lift, so it goes down the stairs.
- Day one: crew in at 7 a.m., loading done around 11.
- Road: a break in Qassim after midday, then on to Hail.
- Arrival: near sunset; with a first floor and a medium load, the family chose to unload and assemble bedrooms that evening and leave the rest for morning.
- Day two: remaining pieces assembled and both TVs mounted.
Included, extra and insurance
- Included: crew, dismantling and assembly, basic packing, closed truck, fuel, unloading.
- Extra: kitchens, AC, hoist, VIP packing, storage, delivery to surrounding towns, cleaning.
- Insurance: on valuables, on request.
Storage on arrival

- Leaving the annex or roof out of the photos.
- Accepting a very low offer with no packing, then finding scratches on arrival.
