Furniture Moving from Riyadh to Madinah | Closed Trucks via Qassim, Delivery and Assembly in Every District

From your home in Riyadh to your home in Madinah is about 850 km, which a truck covers via Qassim in around ten hours. Muasasat Al Saif handles furniture moving from Riyadh to Madinah from dismantling in Riyadh and long-haul packing to a closed truck, then unloading and assembly in Quba, Al Aziziyah, Al Uyun or any Madinah district, with a smaller dyna arranged if your home is close to the central area. Prices start from SAR 560 for a room or small load and from SAR 1,120 for a two- or three-bedroom apartment, rising with volume, floor and distance. Send photos through the quote request page for your price and date.

Furniture moving from Riyadh to Madinah: when it arrives and what it costs

If the crew starts dismantling in the morning, a three-bedroom flat is loaded by mid-afternoon, the truck sets off and reaches Madinah late at night or before dawn, and unloading and assembly happen in daylight. We don’t unload in the middle of the night; it disturbs neighbours and means working in the dark.

Prices start from SAR 560 for one room, SAR 1,120 for two or three bedrooms, SAR 1,700 for four to five rooms and SAR 1,850 for a villa. After photos or a free survey in Riyadh you get an itemised quote, so there are no surprises on moving day.

What makes Madinah different

Madinah has modern districts with wide roads on its edges, older neighbourhoods near the Prophet’s Mosque with narrow streets and heavy visitor traffic, and dense residential blocks in between. So before pricing we ask three things. How close is the home to the central area? The closer to the Haram, the harder it is for a big truck to enter or park, so we unload at a nearby point and shuttle by dyna. When are you moving? Ramadan, the visiting season and school holidays crowd the city’s roads, so we unload in the morning. What kind of building is it? Many Madinah blocks have no lift big enough for furniture, so we plan a winch or stair carry.

Riyadh to Madinah prices by home size

Home From Usual job length
Room or small load SAR 560 Half-day loading, arrival next day
2–3 bedroom apartment SAR 1,120 Two days
4–5 bedroom home SAR 1,700 Two to three days
Villa SAR 1,850 Usually three days

Included: the closed truck, loading, unloading, standard bed and wardrobe dismantling and assembly, and basic wrapping. Priced separately: kitchen dismantling and fitting from SAR 370, AC removal from SAR 115 per unit in Riyadh, winch from SAR 185 in Riyadh and from SAR 325 in Madinah, and a dyna transfer on arrival where the district needs it.

To bring the price down without cutting corners, sort the house before the move and sell or donate what you won’t use, pack small boxes yourself and leave us the furniture and glass, ask for a shared load if you are moving one or two rooms with flexible dates, and avoid month-end if you can.

The route via Qassim and Al Hanakiyah

The truck leaves north Riyadh on the Qassim highway, passing Sudair and Al Majmaah, and reaches the Qassim region after about 350 km. From there it heads west on the long Qassim–Madinah road through open country, passing Al Hanakiyah before entering Madinah from the east. Fuel and rest areas are available in Qassim and along the Madinah road, the driver takes regular breaks, and there are routine security checkpoints that need no papers from you.

Distances and driving times

Riyadh to Approx. distance Truck driving
Buraidah or Unaizah about 350–370 km about 4 hours
Al Hanakiyah about 750 km about 8 hours
Madinah about 850 km 9–10 hours
Badr about 1,000 km 11–12 hours
Yanbu about 1,000 km 11–12 hours

We also deliver to Khaybar, Al Ula and Mahd Al Dhahab, priced by their distance from Madinah.

The timeline, day by day

  • Day 1 morning: dismantling, wrapping and box labelling.
  • Day 1 afternoon: loading and strapping, then departure.
  • Overnight: driving with a rest stop in Qassim, arriving in Madinah late at night.
  • Day 2: unloading in the morning, assembly, boxes to the right rooms, packing waste removed.

For villas, loading takes a full day, so we drive on day two and unload on day three.

Packing and securing for a long road

Ten hours of road vibration expose any rushed packing, so each piece is treated as if it were travelling alone. Wood gets a moving blanket, stretch film and cardboard corner guards. Sofas get heavy plastic against dust, plus a blanket on light fabrics. Glass and mirrors stand upright in double cardboard or a crate with nothing stacked over them. Dishes are wrapped one by one and stood on edge in small boxes. Washing machine drums are locked and fridges travel upright, emptied and dried. In the truck heavy items go low and forward, rows are strapped and gaps filled with mattresses and pillows, so nothing moves for the whole trip.

Full truck or shared load, closed or open

A full truck is yours alone, leaves on your day and goes straight to your door; it’s what we recommend for any apartment or house. A shared load suits a student moving a room to university housing or a single employee, and costs less, but it waits for the Madinah load to fill, may leave a day or two later and may unload at another customer first.

All households on this route travel in closed trucks. The road is long and exposed, summer sun is hard on fabric and wood, and wind-blown dust between Qassim and Madinah gets into open trucks however well the tarp is tied. Open trucks are only for courtyard and metal items.

Pickup in Riyadh, delivery across Madinah

We collect from all Riyadh districts: the north, nearest the Qassim road, including Al Malqa, Al Narjis, Al Yasmin, Al Arid and Hittin; the east including Al Rawdah, Al Naseem, Al Rayyan and Al Khaleej; the west including Al Suwaidi, Dhahrat Laban and Tuwaiq; the south including Al Shifa, Badr and Al Aziziyah; and the centre including Al Malaz, Olaya and Al Sulaimaniyah. Towers that require a service-lift booking get a time agreed in advance.

Madinah area Districts Usual delivery
South Quba, Al Awali, Al Aziziyah, Shoran, King Fahd Truck usually reaches the building door
North Sayed Al Shuhada, Al Uyun, Al Khalidiyah Mostly wide streets
East and west Al Harrah Al Sharqiyah, Al Harrah Al Gharbiyah Parking point set from a street photo
Near the Haram Districts around the central area Unload nearby, then a small dyna

Beds, wardrobes and desks are dismantled in Riyadh with each piece’s screws bagged and taped to it, which saves the Madinah assembly team a lot of time. Kitchens are dismantled and refitted on request after we see a photo and measurements of the new space. If the Madinah flat is smaller than the Riyadh one, we agree with you before loading where each room’s furniture goes.

Insurance, storage and weather

Antiques and imported furniture can be insured on request, with the value agreed before loading. If your new home isn’t ready, perhaps the landlord hasn’t handed over keys or maintenance is still going on, we store your furniture short-term and deliver when you ask, priced by size and duration.

The Qassim–Madinah road is very hot in summer, so we prefer driving in the evening and at night and rest at midday on daytime runs. On windy days dust can cut visibility and the driver waits for it to clear. Winter is milder, but rain sometimes surprises Madinah, so pieces stay in plastic until they’re indoors.

Sending urgent items by air

Furniture travels by road, but you may need some things before the truck arrives: school or university registration papers, a work computer or a box of clothes. We send these as domestic air cargo from King Khalid Airport in Riyadh to Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz Airport in Madinah, usually within one to two days. Air cargo is charged on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher; volumetric weight = length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000. A 40 × 40 × 30 cm box counts as 8 kg, but if it holds 11 kg of files it is charged at 11. Ask for the air price with your furniture quote.

Worked example: Al Malaz to Quba

A retired man moving with his wife to Madinah to be near their children, from a third-floor two-bedroom flat with a majlis and no lift in Al Malaz. Load: a bedroom, a guest room, an Arabic majlis, a large bookcase, fridge, washer, two split ACs and around thirty-five boxes, mostly books. The key point was weight: books went into small boxes, and the bookcase and wardrobes came down by winch instead of the narrow stairs. One medium closed truck, four crew in Riyadh and three in Madinah. Loading finished by late afternoon, the truck arrived at dawn and everything was assembled by midday. From SAR 1,120 for the apartment, plus the Riyadh winch from SAR 185 and AC removal from SAR 115 per unit.

Checklist

  • Send the Madinah map pin and a street photo, especially near the central area.
  • Make sure you have the new home’s keys before moving day.
  • Book your Riyadh building’s lift if management requires it.
  • Empty and dry the fridge a day early.
  • Bag cables and remotes together, and photograph the back of the TV before unplugging.
  • Keep an overnight bag in your car. Gold, cash, passports, deeds, contracts, daily medicines, gas cylinders, fuel and flammable aerosols travel with you, never in the truck.

Common mistakes

  • Not mentioning the home is near the Haram, so the big truck has nowhere to park.
  • Packing books in large boxes that split or get dropped.
  • Booking at peak season or month-end with no notice.
  • Settling for a phone estimate without photos, then seeing the price change on the day.
  • Choosing an open truck to save a little on a ten-hour road of sun and dust.

How it works, and the trip back

  4. Dismantling, packing and loading, then the drive via Qassim with regular updates.
