Furniture Moving from Riyadh to Najran | Dust-Sealed Packing and Closed Trucks via Al Sulayyil
The road to Najran is desert almost all the way. There are no mountain passes and no fog, but there is heat, sand and long gaps between towns. That is why two things come first when we move a home there: wrapping that keeps dust out, and a properly sealed closed truck. We dismantle, wrap and load in Riyadh, drive roughly 900 km through Al Kharj, Al Aflaj and Al Sulayyil, then unload and reassemble in Najran. Driving takes about 9–10 hours with rests, and delivery is usually the next day. Furniture moving from Riyadh to Najran starts from SAR 700 for a room, from SAR 1,120 for an apartment and from SAR 2,300 for a villa, rising with volume, floors and distance. Send photos through the quote request page to get your price.

Prices for furniture moving from Riyadh to Najran
We start with the numbers, because that is the first question most people ask about this route. These are the starting prices by home size:
| Size | Starting price | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Room or small load | from SAR 700 | a Najran University student, a single employee, appliances and a few items |
| Two- to three-bedroom apartment | from SAR 1,120 | a small family, with bedroom dismantling and assembly |
| Four- to five-room home | from SAR 1,850 | a traditional house or duplex, larger crew |
| Villa | from SAR 2,300 | after a survey; may need two trucks |
The price rises with volume, floors and distance, and kitchens, air conditioners and hoisting are added when the home needs them. If you later need an apartment moved within Najran, that starts from SAR 470.
What raises the price on the Najran run?
- Air conditioners: Riyadh homes have plenty of them and Najran is hot in summer too, so usually all of them are moved and refitted, which is separate technical work.
- Kitchen: taken down in Riyadh and fitted in Najran.
- Roof annexes: many houses in south Riyadh have a roof room or store full of things the owners only remember on moving day.
- Delivery point: inside the city, a farm on the edge of the valley, or a distant governorate.
The road: from Al Kharj to the edge of the Empty Quarter
The truck heads south from Riyadh to Al Kharj, then Hawtat Bani Tamim, Al Aflaj and Al Sulayyil. Towns are fairly close together on this first part, and rest areas and fuel stations are easy to find. After Al Sulayyil comes the longest and most remote stretch: a desert road running near the fringes of the Empty Quarter, with stations far apart, so the driver refuels and rests before setting off on it.

On this section, sand can drift across the tarmac when the wind picks up, and the driver slows down accordingly. He only stops at staffed stations. There are routine checkpoints between regions, where the load details and the receiver’s name and number are all that is needed.
Because the truck passes through Al Kharj, we can collect items from Riyadh and from Al Kharj on the same trip if you have a home or store there, as long as we agree it when quoting.
Distances and driving time

| Habuna | about 900 km | 9–10 hours |
| Badr Al Janoub | about 1,000 km | around 11 hours |
| Sharurah | via a different road | confirmed when quoting |
Timeline from Riyadh to your door in Najran
- Day one, morning: the crew arrives and dismantles beds, wardrobes, the kitchen and air conditioners.
- Midday: wrapping, then loading and strapping inside the truck.
- Afternoon or next dawn: departure. In summer we prefer leaving in the evening so the desert stretch is covered in the cooler night hours.
- Day two, morning: arrival in Najran, unloading, then assembly.
- Day three if needed: AC installation, curtains and TV mounting in larger homes.
Packing against dust and heat
Fine dust on southern roads gets in through the smallest gap and settles in fabric, drawers and between wooden panels. In summer the inside of the box gets very hot, enough to soften wax and harm some electronics and leather. So we wrap tightly and close every opening.

- Fabric sofas and majlis seating: fully filmed on every side, because dust in fabric is hard to clean out.
- Mattresses and pillows: sealed bags.
- Drawers: emptied or taped shut before the unit is wrapped.
- Leather and gloss surfaces: cloth or foam under the film so it doesn’t stick to the surface in the heat.
- Electronics: tightly sealed cartons placed in the middle of the box, away from the hot walls.
Loading and strapping
The road to Najran is mostly flat but long, and constant vibration over hundreds of kilometres will shift a load that isn’t tight. Heavy appliances and dismantled wardrobes go at the front on the floor, then sofas, then cartons. Every row is strapped to the wall and gaps are filled with blankets.

Older homes in south Riyadh often have narrow stairs, and in walk-up buildings we sometimes need a hoist for a large fridge or a long sofa. In Najran most houses are single-storey or two floors with wide entrances, so unloading there is usually easier.
A truck to yourself or a shared load?
For a whole home, a full truck is simpler: it leaves when you agree and doesn’t stop to drop anyone else’s things. If you are a student or employee moving one room or a few pieces to Najran, a shared load is a sensible, cheaper option, provided you accept that timing depends on another trip south and may slip by a day or two.
Why we don’t use open trucks
One hour in a sandstorm on the Al Sulayyil road is enough to fill everything with sand, tarpaulin or not. An enclosed box is a requirement for every house move on this route.
Dismantling, assembly and air conditioners
In Riyadh we take apart beds, wardrobes, large dining tables and kitchens, keeping screws and small parts in numbered bags tied to each piece. In Najran bedrooms go up first, then the kitchen, then the majlis.
Air conditioning matters on this route, since Najran summers are hot, if a little gentler than Riyadh’s. We recommend removing every unit carefully and refitting them within the first two days. An AC technician can travel with the crew on request, and installation is priced per unit.
Pickup areas in Riyadh and delivery areas in Najran
We collect anywhere in Riyadh. Many Najran moves start in the south and south-west of the city, in Al Shifa, Al Aziziyah, Al Dar Al Baida, Okaz, Badr and Al Mansuriyah, as well as central areas like Al Batha and Manfuhah, and the north too. Sometimes the house is in Al Kharj or Al Hawtah, and we pick it up on the way.
| Part of Najran | Districts we deliver to | Note |
|---|---|---|
| North of the city | Al Fahd and North Al Fahd, Al Nahdah, Al Jamiah | relatively new houses and villas |
| Centre | Al Faisaliyah, Al Khar’a, Al Mukhayyam | busier streets, parking time agreed |
| Airport side | East of Airport, North and South Al Shurfah | newer plans |
| Along the valley | Rajla, Al Uraysah, Al Mufarraq | houses and farms; access may be unpaved |
| Outside the city | Habuna, Badr Al Janoub, Sharurah | by prior arrangement |
Weather on the road and in Najran
Heat is the main concern in summer. Keep candles, perfume, food, medicines and spare batteries out of the truck, and expect us to suggest travelling at night in the hottest months. Sandy winds sometimes blow across the road after Al Sulayyil; the driver slows down or waits at a station until they ease.
Rain is rare in Najran, but when it comes the valleys can run, and Wadi Najran and its tributaries sometimes flood. In that case we will not drive a loaded truck through a flowing channel however urgent the move, and we wait until the road is safe. Winter in Najran is mild and ideal for moving.
Insurance and storage on arrival
Insurance for valuable items is available on request, with the value set before loading. If the truck arrives before you have the keys, or the house is still being prepared, we can arrange temporary storage until the delivery day you choose, as long as it is agreed before the trip.
Sending urgent items by air
Furniture goes by road, but some things can’t wait two days: appointment or university admission papers, a work computer, medical supplies you rely on, a box of clothes. We send them as domestic air cargo from King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh to Najran Airport, usually within one to two days.
Air cargo is charged on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher; volumetric weight is length × width × height in centimetres ÷ 6000. A 45 × 45 × 45 cm carton counts as about 15 kg volumetric, but if it is full of books and weighs 22 kg, the real weight is charged.
Two typical jobs on this route
A house from Al Shifa to Al Fahd
A family lives in a traditional two-storey house in Al Shifa, south Riyadh, with four rooms, a majlis and a roof annex, and is moving to a spacious single-storey home in Al Fahd, Najran. The load: four bedrooms, a large majlis, a living room, a wooden kitchen, six air conditioners and the contents of the roof store.
- Crew: five movers, a carpenter and an AC technician in Riyadh; four movers and a carpenter in Najran.
- Truck: large closed truck, full load.
- Time: a day in Riyadh, an overnight drive, unloading and assembly on day two, air conditioners on the morning of day three.
- Price: from SAR 1,850 for four to five rooms, plus kitchen and AC work; final figure after the survey.
A student’s room from Al Aziziyah to Al Jamiah
A student moving a bed, a small wardrobe, a desk, a mini fridge and about ten cartons. It goes as a shared load on a trip heading south, delivered within two to three days, from SAR 700.
Checklist before moving day
- Send the Najran location and tell us if the access is unpaved or inside a farm.
- Clear the roof store and annex two days ahead rather than leaving it for moving day.
- Empty and dry the fridge; disconnect the washing machine and let it drain.
- Gold, cash, documents and medicines travel with you.
- No gas cylinders, fuel, pesticides or flammable products in the truck.
- If you are driving the same road yourself, take water and food for the journey.
Mistakes that keep coming up
- Choosing an open dyna because it is cheaper, then receiving a sofa full of sand.
- Forgetting the roof annex when asking for a price.
- Wrapping leather directly in film so it sticks in the heat.
- Insisting on delivery on a day of rain and flash floods.
- Not agreeing on AC installation, leaving the family two days in the heat.
How the job runs
- Send photos and both addresses through the quote request page.
- Receive an itemised price with the truck type and crew.
- Set the dismantling day and departure time, usually at night in summer.
- Dismantling, sealed wrapping, loading and strapping.
- The drive via Al Kharj, Al Aflaj and Al Sulayyil.
- Unloading and assembly in Najran, then a walk-through with you.
