Furniture Moving from Riyadh to Sabt Al Alaya | Full Assembly in Bilqarn and a Bisha Drop on Request
Sabt Al Alaya is not a big city, and anyone moving there from Riyadh wants their home to arrive complete and assembled, because finding a carpenter or helper there after you arrive is not as easy as it is in the capital. So we take on the whole job: dismantling and wrapping in Riyadh, a closed truck covering roughly 800 km via Al Rain and Bisha, then unloading and full assembly at your new home in Bilqarn. Driving takes about 8–9 hours with rests, and delivery is usually the next day. Furniture moving from Riyadh to Sabt Al Alaya starts from SAR 700 for a room and from SAR 1,120 for a two- or three-bedroom apartment, rising with volume, floors and distance. Send your photos through the quote request page.

Furniture moving from Riyadh to Sabt Al Alaya: how the trip runs
The journey comes in two quite different parts. The first is long and familiar: south-west from Riyadh on the Al Rain road to Bisha, a desert highway with well-known rest areas and stations, very hot in summer. The second is shorter but needs care: from Bisha to Sabt Al Alaya on the Bisha–Al Alaya road, around a hundred kilometres. It carries heavy local and through traffic, so we drive it in daylight wherever possible and at a calm pace.

After Bisha the road starts to rise gradually, and the land changes from open plains to farms and valleys, then the Bilqarn highlands. The climb isn’t steep, but it makes a well-strapped load a requirement rather than an option. There are the usual checkpoints between regions, where the load details and the receiver’s number are enough.

What changes the figure?
- The amount of furniture and the number of large pieces such as wardrobes and majlis sets.
- Whether you want everything assembled on arrival, including the kitchen, AC units and curtains.
- Whether there is a partial drop in Bisha for relatives or a store.
- Location: in Sabt itself, in a village on a narrow road, or further towards Al Namas.
- Your floor in Riyadh and whether there is a lift.
Why we insist on full assembly in Sabt
In Riyadh, if a piece is left unassembled you can find a carpenter the same day. In Sabt Al Alaya the options are fewer and you might wait days. So we plan for the crew to leave with your home ready: beds built, wardrobes in place, the kitchen on the wall and TVs mounted if you ask. We carry spare screws and hinges, because one small missing part can stop a whole wardrobe going up.
If your Riyadh kitchen is longer than the kitchen wall in the new home, the carpenter measures first and shows you the options: moving a unit to another wall, trimming a worktop, or storing a piece that has no place.
Packing for a trip that mixes heat and cool
Your furniture leaves the heat of Riyadh, passes through hot Bisha, then arrives in the milder, cooler air of Bilqarn, perhaps meeting summer rain in the afternoon. Swinging between heat, cool and damp affects unprotected wood and fabric, and hundreds of kilometres of vibration will scratch any exposed surface.

- Wood: blanket or foam, then tight stretch film.
- Mattresses: sealed bags against dust and damp.
- Glass and mirrors: cardboard corners, carried upright between fixed pieces.
- Kitchenware: paper for each item, in small cartons that don’t get too heavy.
- Appliances: fridge dried the day before, washing machine drum secured, TV in a box cut to size.
Each carton is labelled with its room in the new home, and the boxes you’ll need on the first night are loaded last so they come off first.
Loading, strapping and the Bisha drop
If part of the load is going to Bisha, those items go at the back of the box so they can come off without disturbing the rest. In every case, heavy items sit at the front on the floor, dismantled wardrobes stand upright and tight together, sofas are covered with blankets, cartons go up high, and every row is strapped.

For upper-floor flats in Riyadh without a lift, we bring a hoist when needed. In Sabt most homes are ground floor or two storeys with wide entrances, but some village houses sit on sloping ground or at the end of a narrow lane, so we ask about access beforehand.
Full or shared load, and why the truck is closed
A whole home means a full truck: your timing and a direct run. A teacher’s or single employee’s room can travel as a shared load heading to Bisha or Asir, which costs less but is less flexible and may arrive a day or two later. Either way the truck is enclosed, because dust on the Al Rain road and rain in Bilqarn are not things to leave to chance.
From Riyadh to Sabt districts and Bilqarn villages
We collect from any Riyadh district. Many Sabt moves start in north and north-west Riyadh, in Al Rabi, Al Ghadir, Al Sahafa, Al Nada and Al Muruj, and in eastern areas such as Qurtubah and Al Munsiyah. A lot of them are teachers and employees posted to Bilqarn, or families from the area heading home.
| Area | Districts and places we deliver to | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Sabt Al Alaya | Al Alaya, Al Bazaza, Afra, Al Mashayaa | governorate centre, entrances usually wide |
| Around Sabt | Al Farsh, Al Hamid, Al Hanik, Al Obaid and Al Rouhan | scattered villages, some narrow roads |
| On the way | Bisha | partial drop on request |
| Further west | Al Namas, Tanomah | climb and fog; arranged ahead |
Timeline
Day one: dismantling, wrapping and loading in Riyadh from morning to afternoon, then departure. We time the trip to reach Bisha late at night or at dawn, rest, and then drive the Al Alaya road in daylight.
Day two: morning arrival, unloading and full assembly. An apartment is finished the same day; a villa may run into day three.
Weather on this route
Summer is extremely hot in Riyadh, on the Al Rain road and in Bisha, so keep candles, perfume, food and medicines out of the truck. Bilqarn is milder, and summer rain tends to fall in the afternoon, so we aim to unload in the morning. Fog can settle on the heights towards Al Namas and Tanomah; if that is your destination, we plan the climb for clearer hours. Winter nights in Sabt are cold, but moving during the day is comfortable.
When this route gets busy
Bilqarn moves peak at the end of the school year and just before the new one starts, when teacher and staff transfers come out, and at month-end when leases expire. If your date falls in these periods, book a week or more ahead so you get a full truck on the day you want. During Ramadan we usually work from after dawn until midday and continue after iftar if needed.
Insurance and storage
Insurance for valuable pieces is available on request, with the value agreed before loading. If the house isn’t ready when we arrive, we can arrange temporary storage until you set a delivery date, as long as you tell us before the trip.
Sending urgent items by air
Furniture travels by road, but urgent things can go ahead: your job start file, school papers, a computer, medicines or a week of clothes. We send them as domestic air cargo from King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh to Bisha Airport, the nearest airport to Bilqarn, or to Abha Airport depending on availability. They usually arrive within one to two days, and you collect them on your way.
Charges follow actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher; volumetric weight is length × width × height in centimetres ÷ 6000. A 60 × 50 × 30 cm bag counts as 15 kg volumetric; if it actually weighs 18 kg, the real weight applies.
Example: a flat from Al Rabi to Afra, with a drop in Bisha
A teacher whose post has moved to Sabt Al Alaya lives with her family in a three-bedroom flat on the fourth floor of a building in Al Rabi, north Riyadh, with a small lift. They will live in a ground-floor house in Afra, and want to leave one bedroom set and a fridge with her brother in Bisha.
- Crew: four movers and a carpenter in Riyadh; three movers and a carpenter in Sabt.
- Truck: medium closed truck, with the Bisha items loaded at the back.
- Lift: too small for the large wardrobe and long sofa, so those two go by hoist.
- Time: a day in Riyadh, the Bisha drop in the morning, then delivery and full assembly in Afra before sunset.
- Price: from SAR 1,120 for the apartment, plus the hoist and the partial drop; final figure after photos.
Preparation checklist
- Send the location of the house in Sabt and describe the road to it if it is in a village.
- If there is a drop in Bisha, give us that address and the receiver’s number.
- Empty and dry the fridge the day before; disconnect the washing machine.
- Gold, cash, documents and medicines stay with you in your car.
- No gas cylinders, fuel or flammable products go in the truck.
- Check that electricity and water are connected at the new home before we arrive.
Mistakes we see on moves to smaller towns
- Booking transport only, without assembly, then spending days looking for a carpenter.
- Mentioning the Bisha drop only on moving day, when those items are deep inside the box.
- Losing the bag of screws, leaving a wardrobe that can’t be built.
- Arriving in the evening on a busy road after a very long day.
- Agreeing a price that says nothing about the hoist or the kitchen.
How the job runs
- Send photos and addresses through the quote request page.
- We send an itemised quote and ask about access and any drops on the way.
- We fix the dismantling day in Riyadh and the arrival time in Sabt.
- Dismantling, wrapping, loading and strapping.
- The drive via Al Rain and Bisha, with the Al Alaya road in daylight.
- Unloading and full assembly, then a walk-through with you before the crew leaves.
