Furniture Moving from Riyadh to Tabuk | Two-Day Plan, Double Packing & Closed Trucks
Roughly 1,300 km separate Riyadh and Tabuk, one of the longest household moves inside the Kingdom, so we do not treat it like a Qassim or Eastern Province run. Al Saif plans furniture moving from Riyadh to Tabuk as a two-day job: double-layer packing and strapping in Riyadh, a closed truck through Qassim, Hail and Tayma, then unloading and assembly in your new home. A room or small load starts from SAR 1,500, a two- or three-bedroom apartment from SAR 1,680 and a 4–5 room home from SAR 2,600, rising with volume, floors and distance. Send photos through the quote request page for a price after a free survey.
🧭 What to know about the Tabuk trip
- Distance: about 1,300 km: Riyadh → Qassim → Hail → Tayma → Tabuk.
- Driving: around 14 to 16 hours of actual driving, split over two days with driver rest.
- Door to door: two to three days depending on home size.
- From: SAR 1,500 a room, 1,680 an apartment, 2,600 for 4–5 rooms, 6,950 a villa.
- Packing: two layers on every piece and a strap check at each stop.
Why furniture moving from Riyadh to Tabuk needs a different plan
Three things change once a move passes a thousand kilometres. First, no driver should cover it without sleep, so there is either an overnight stop or two drivers taking turns. Second, the load vibrates for many hours and goes through many stops, so packing that is fine for four hours is not enough here. Third, the weather changes between start and finish: you may load in Riyadh’s midday heat and arrive on a cold Tabuk night, which affects appliances, wood and plastic wrapping.
So we do not promise same-day delivery, and we would not believe anyone promising it for a full house. The honest promise is furniture arriving intact on day two or three, assembled in its rooms.
Riyadh to Tabuk timeline
| Day | What happens |
|---|---|
| Day one, morning | dismantling, packing and loading in Riyadh, 4–6 hours for a mid-size apartment |
| Day one, afternoon | departure via Qassim to Hail, overnight there or a little beyond |
| Day two | on to Tayma and Tabuk, arriving in the afternoon or before sunset |
| Day two evening or day three morning | unloading and assembly in Tabuk |
Two alternating drivers can shorten the road time, but for full homes we still prefer to unload in daylight, even if the truck arrives at night and waits for morning.
Distances along the way
| Point | Approx. distance from Riyadh | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Buraidah | about 350 km | short break |
| Hail | about 620 km | usual overnight stop |
| Tayma | about 1,050 km | last major stop before Tabuk |
| Tabuk | about 1,300 km | roughly 265 km after Tayma |
The road beyond Hail
The first half is familiar to anyone who has driven north: the Qassim expressway, then the Qassim–Hail road. What sets the Tabuk trip apart is everything after Hail. From there the truck heads west and north toward Tayma on a long road with few towns and widely spaced stations, skirting the Nafud desert and open country. The driver fills up in Hail, carries enough water and does not skip a good stop. After Tayma there are about 265 km to Tabuk, where the landscape opens into plains and large farms before the city. Routine checkpoints along the way need only the driver’s and truck’s papers.

Weather between Riyadh and Tabuk
In summer it is hot in Riyadh, Qassim and along the whole road by day, easing a little on Tabuk nights. In winter Tabuk is cold, snow sometimes falls on nearby high ground such as Jabal Al Lawz, there is occasional rain on the road and early-morning fog. In practice this means two things. Plastic wrapped tightly around a warm piece can trap condensation when it cools suddenly, so we put a layer of board or fabric between wood and plastic. And electronics should rest for an hour or two indoors before being switched on. On windy days sand can drift across the road near the dunes; the driver slows down and stops if visibility drops.
Prices for furniture moving from Riyadh to Tabuk
| Home size | From | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Room or small load | SAR 1,500 | good fit for a shared load |
| 2–3 bedroom apartment | SAR 1,680 | mid-size closed truck |
| 4–5 room home | SAR 2,600 | dedicated large truck |
| Villa | SAR 6,950 | one or two large trucks, bigger crew, a full loading day |
The jump between a mid-size home and a villa surprises some people. Over 1,300 km a villa usually needs a second truck or a large trailer, a bigger crew at both ends, a full day to load and another to assemble. The price rises with volume, floors and distance in both cities. Add-ons in Tabuk start from SAR 185 for a hoist, SAR 370 for a kitchen, SAR 115 per AC unit, SAR 140 per room for carpentry and SAR 140 for VIP packing.
How to keep the cost down
- With only a few items, ask for a shared load on a Tabuk- or north-bound truck.
- Get rid of old furniture you will not use; moving it 1,300 km can cost more than it is worth.
- Pack small cartons yourself if you like, and leave large furniture and glass to the crew.
- Book early so you can pick a date that fits a truck’s schedule.
Packing and load securing for long distance
On a trip this long, packing is not a step before the move; it is part of the safety of the move.
- Two layers on all wood: a blanket or board against the surface, bubble wrap outside, so plastic never touches the finish directly.
- Corners and edges: fixed card guards, since they are the first to suffer from vibration.
- Glass and mirrors: between two rigid card sheets, loaded upright and strapped.
- Mattresses: in covers, standing between rows as buffers.
- Appliances: fridge off and dried a day early, washer drum locked, TVs in reinforced cartons.
- Kitchenware: each piece wrapped alone, and no carton heavier than one person can lift comfortably.

Weight distribution and straps
We load so that weight spreads along the truck, not at the back: appliances and dismantled wardrobes in the front and middle, heavy cartons on the floor, light items above. Every row is ratchet-strapped to anchor points and gaps are packed with blankets so nothing has room to move. The driver checks the straps in Qassim, again in Hail before the overnight stop and again in Tayma, because straps loosen slightly over long vibration.

Full truck or shared load?
A full home gets a dedicated truck running direct on a fixed schedule. For a few items, such as one employee’s room, a shared load makes real sense on a route this long because the road cost is split. The trade-off is that a shared truck may stop in Hail or Tayma to drop another load. Loads are separated with labels and covers.
Closed is the only option here
Over 1,300 km of daytime heat, cold nights, dust and possibly rain, we do not use open trucks for household furniture. The price difference is small next to what could be damaged.
Pickup in Riyadh, delivery in Tabuk
We collect across Riyadh: the north (Al Malqa, An Narjis, Al Yasmin, Al Arid), the east (An Naseem, Al Rawdah, Al Yarmuk), the west (Dhahrat Laban, Tuwaiq), the south (Al Shifa, Al Aziziyah, Ad Dar Al Baida) and the centre (Al Malaz, Al Sulaimaniyah).
| Tabuk districts | Delivery note |
|---|---|
| Al Wurud, Al Muruj, Al Sulaimaniyah, Sultanah | residential districts in the north and centre; villas and apartments, usually easy truck access |
| Al Masif, Al Olaya, Al Faisaliyah | houses and apartment blocks; we ask about the lift and stair width in advance |
| Al Manshiyah and around the centre | narrower streets; a dyna may do the last stretch |
We also deliver to towns near Tabuk. The NEOM area and nearby towns such as Sharma, Qiyal and Duba need special arrangements, as access to some sites requires prior permits from the receiver’s employer.
Unloading and assembly
The supervisor calls the receiver ahead of arrival; if the truck arrives at night, we unload in the morning. The crew carries pieces into rooms, assembles beds and wardrobes, then the kitchen and dining table, and checks the numbered cartons with you. Upper floors without a suitable lift get the hoist. AC units, curtains and TVs can be fitted in the same visit.
Sending urgent items by air
Since the furniture takes two or three days, you may need some things in Tabuk first: work documents, a laptop, children’s school clothes. These can go as domestic air cargo from King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh to Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Airport in Tabuk within one to two days. Pricing is on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher; volumetric weight = length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000, so two 50 × 40 × 30 cm cartons count as about 20 kg together. The furniture itself stays on the road.
Worked example: Al Arid to Al Muruj
A family of six lives on one floor of a villa in Al Arid, north Riyadh. The father has been transferred to Tabuk and they have rented a large apartment in Al Muruj. The load: four bedrooms, a majlis, a living room, an eight-seat dining table, an aluminium kitchen, fridge and freezer, two washers, four AC units and about sixty cartons.
- Quote: by photos on the 4–5 room tier from SAR 2,600, plus the kitchen from SAR 370 and AC from SAR 115 per unit. The family flew two cartons of school documents ahead.
- Day one: crew in at 6 a.m., loading finished after midday, truck to Hail where the driver slept.
- Day two: dawn departure, strap check in Tayma, arrival in Tabuk before sunset; the truck stayed locked overnight.
- Day three: unloading, rooms and kitchen assembled, AC units fitted in the afternoon.
Included, extra and insurance
- Included: crews at both ends, standard dismantling and assembly, double-layer packing, closed truck, fuel, driver’s overnight stay, unloading.
- Extra: kitchens, AC units, hoist, VIP packing for antiques, storage, cleaning.
- Insurance: on valuables, on request, and worth considering on a trip this long.
Storage in Tabuk
If the Tabuk home is not handed over on time, or the family joins after the school term, we keep the furniture packed and deliver and assemble when you ask, priced by volume and duration.
Checklist before the Tabuk move
- Book at least two weeks ahead; long runs need drivers and trucks arranged.
- Confirm the Tabuk handover date before fixing loading day.
- Keep what you need for the first two days off the truck: clothes, medicines, documents, gold, chargers.
- No full gas cylinders, petrol, pesticides or large loose batteries.
- Switch off and dry the fridge a day early.
- Write the room on every carton and number valuable pieces.
Common mistakes
- Believing a same-day promise for a whole house over 1,300 km.
- Wrapping wood straight in plastic, then finding condensation after a cold night.
- Moving old furniture you will never use.
- Not flying urgent items ahead and spending two days without documents or clothes.
- Choosing a very low offer that turns out to be an open truck with no driver rest.

Frequently asked questions
How many days does furniture moving from Riyadh to Tabuk take?
Two to three days door to door: loading on day one, usually an overnight in Hail, arrival on day two, assembly that evening or on day three.
Why is a villa to Tabuk priced so much higher than an apartment?
Over 1,300 km a villa usually needs a second truck or a large trailer, a bigger crew and full days for loading and assembly; it starts from SAR 6,950.
Where does the driver stop overnight?
Usually in Hail or just beyond, continuing at dawn to Tayma and Tabuk; the stay is included.
Can the temperature difference between Riyadh and Tabuk harm furniture?
Plastic wrapped directly on wood can trap condensation, so we add a board or fabric layer between them; let appliances rest an hour or two before use.
How often is the load checked on the road?
The driver checks straps in Qassim, in Hail before the overnight stop and in Tayma, since straps loosen slightly over long vibration.
I only have one room of things. What's the economical option?
A shared load on a Tabuk- or north-bound truck, from SAR 1,500, with possible stops in Hail or Tayma.
Do you deliver to the NEOM area, Duba and Sharma?
Yes, with special arrangements, as some sites require prior permits from the receiver's employer.
Can I send school documents to Tabuk before the furniture?
Yes, by air from King Khalid Airport to Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Airport in Tabuk within one to two days, on actual or volumetric weight.
What if the truck reaches Tabuk at night?
It stays locked and we unload in the morning, so assembly happens in daylight without rushing.
Should I move old furniture to Tabuk or sell it?
If you will not use it, moving it 1,300 km may cost more than it is worth; clearing it first reduces volume and price.
Do you move from Tabuk to Riyadh?
Yes, the same route in reverse with the same dismantle-to-assembly plan.
