Furniture Moving from Riyadh to Taif | Dismantling, Packing & Closed Trucks to Al Hawiyah, Al Hada and Al Shafa
Riyadh to Taif is about 790 km on the Riyadh–Taif expressway, and a truck covers it in one day if loading starts early. Muasasat Al Saif handles furniture moving from Riyadh to Taif from start to finish: dismantling in Riyadh, packing suited to a long desert road that ends in a cooler, higher city, loading a closed truck, then unloading and reassembly in Al Hawiyah, Shahar, Al Hada or wherever your new home is. Prices start from SAR 560 for a room or small load and from SAR 1,120 for a two- or three-bedroom apartment, rising with volume, floor and distance. Start with photos on our quote request page.
⛰️ Riyadh to the mountain city: key numbers

- Driving: roughly 8–9 hours, a little more to Al Hada and Al Shafa.
- Whole job: usually two days: packing, loading and the drive, then unloading and assembly.
- Vehicle: closed truck, with a small dyna for steep mountain streets when needed.
- From: SAR 560 room, SAR 1,120 apartment, SAR 1,700 four to five rooms, SAR 1,850 villa.
Furniture moving from Riyadh to Taif: time and cost
The drive itself is simple; the road is fast and mostly straight. What really sets the timing is the size of the home. A two-bedroom flat is dismantled and loaded by midday, reaches Taif at night and is unloaded the next morning. A full villa needs a day just to load, so we drive the following day and unload on the third.
Cost starts from SAR 560 for a single room and from SAR 1,850 for villas. Two homes with the same number of rooms can differ a lot: one with solid-wood wardrobes, a large majlis and window ACs, another with light, sparse furniture. That’s why the final figure comes after we see your things.
Why Taif needs different planning
Taif sits high above sea level, noticeably cooler than Riyadh, with neighbourhoods on slopes and hills, and areas like Al Hada and Al Shafa reached by winding mountain roads. That changes three things. First, truck size at delivery: a big truck gets into Al Hawiyah, Al Faisaliyah and Shahar easily, but some chalets and villas in Al Hada and Al Shafa need the load transferred to a smaller dyna for the last climb. Second, packing: wood leaving dry Riyadh heat meets cooler air and, in some seasons, evening rain in Taif, so plastic stays on until pieces are indoors. Third, timing: we don’t climb mountain roads with a heavy load at night or in fog, so Al Hada and Al Shafa deliveries wait for morning.
Riyadh to Taif moving prices
| Home | From | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Room or small load | SAR 560 | Student or employee moving one room |
| 2–3 bedroom apartment | SAR 1,120 | Includes majlis, kitchen items and appliances |
| 4–5 bedroom home | SAR 1,700 | May need a bigger truck or dyna shuttles at delivery |
| Villa | SAR 1,850 | Rises with annexes, courtyard items and AC units |
Prices include the closed truck, loading, unloading and standard bed and wardrobe dismantling and assembly. Heavy pieces, stairs without a lift in Riyadh, winch work (from SAR 185 in Riyadh), AC removal (from SAR 115 per unit), kitchen dismantling and refitting (from SAR 370) and a dyna transfer for Al Hada or Al Shafa all add to it. You save by clearing out what you won’t use, accepting a shared load for one or two rooms, or packing your own boxes and leaving us the big pieces.
The route via Al Quwayiyah, Zalim and Al Muwayh

The truck leaves west Riyadh on the Riyadh–Taif expressway, passes Al Quwayiyah, crosses long open country dotted with small villages, reaches Zalim and then Al Muwayh, and enters Taif from the Al Hawiyah side. Fuel and rest areas are spaced out, so the driver fills up at Al Quwayiyah and Al Muwayh. There are routine highway checkpoints that need nothing from you. The desert stretch is the longest and very hot on summer afternoons, so we leave early. Getting into Taif is easy; homes in Al Hada or Al Shafa add a short but slow mountain section.
Distances and driving times
| Riyadh to | Approx. distance | Truck driving |
|---|---|---|
| Al Quwayiyah | about 170 km | about 2 hours |
| Al Muwayh | about 600 km | 6–7 hours |
| Al Hawiyah | about 770 km | about 8 hours |
| Central Taif | about 790 km | 8–9 hours |
| Al Hada | about 815 km | 9–10 hours |
| Al Shafa | about 820 km | 9–10 hours |
Al Khurma, Turabah and Ranyah are off the direct road and priced by their distance from Taif.
How the two days run
- Day 1 morning: the crew sorts with you what goes, dismantles, wraps and labels.
- Day 1 midday: loading finishes for a mid-size apartment and the truck sets off.
- Day 1 night: the truck reaches Taif and parks near the district if it’s late.
- Day 2 morning: unloading room by room, assembly and removal of packing waste.
Villas and large houses get an extra loading day, and we tell you that before booking.
Packing and securing the load

The usual mistake on mid-distance moves is treating them like a move across Riyadh: one blanket on the wardrobe and off you go. Eight hundred kilometres of vibration is enough to loosen screws, scratch a table against a neighbouring wardrobe or crack a mirror laid flat. So every wooden piece gets a moving blanket and stretch film, corners get cardboard guards, mirrors and glass stand upright in double cardboard or crates, dishes are wrapped individually and stood on edge, washing machine drums are locked and fridges always travel upright. Heavy items sit low, rows are strapped and gaps are filled with mattresses and pillows. A load that can’t move doesn’t get scratched.
Full or shared, closed or open
For any apartment or villa we recommend a full truck: it leaves on your day and drives straight to you. A shared load suits a single room or a student’s belongings and costs less, but departure waits for the Taif load to fill and can slip by a day or two. We use closed trucks on this route because desert sun fades fabric and dries out wood, and wind-blown dust on the open stretch gets into everything. Open trucks are only for metal or courtyard items that won’t suffer.
Pickup in Riyadh, delivery in Taif

We collect from all of Riyadh: the west, closest to the Taif road exit, including Al Suwaidi, Dhahrat Laban, Namar, Tuwaiq and Al Uraija; the north including Al Malqa, Al Narjis, Al Yasmin, Hittin and Al Sahafa; the east including Al Rawdah, Al Naseem, Al Rayyan and Al Khaleej; the south including Al Shifa, Badr and Al Aziziyah; and the centre including Al Malaz, Olaya and Al Sulaimaniyah.
| Taif area | Districts | Delivery note |
|---|---|---|
| North | Al Hawiyah, Al Washha, Al Qamariyah | Wide streets, direct truck access |
| Centre and east | Al Faisaliyah, Al Sharqiyah, Al Aziziyah, Al Salamah | Some older buildings may need a winch |
| South | Shahar, Jabrah, Al Mathnah, Nakhab | Some streets on slopes; parking spot agreed in advance |
| West and mountain | Al Radf, Al Hada, Al Shafa | Mountain roads; load may move to a smaller dyna |
Beds, wardrobes and desks are dismantled and numbered, with each piece’s screws bagged and taped to it. Kitchens are dismantled and refitted on request; we ask for a photo and measurements of the Taif kitchen space because older Taif homes often differ from modern Riyadh flats. Many families find they need less air conditioning in Taif and leave some units behind.
Insurance, storage and weather
Good packing is the main protection; valuable pieces can be insured on request with the value agreed before loading. If your Taif home isn’t ready because of maintenance, painting or a late handover, we store your furniture short-term and deliver when it is, priced by size and duration.
Summer is very hot on the desert stretch, so we drive early and ease off at midday; dusty days that cut visibility mean waiting at a rest area. In some seasons Taif turns cloudy or rainy in the afternoon, so we unload with plastic still on. Winter nights are cold in Taif, Al Hada and Al Shafa, and fog on mountain roads is reason enough to deliver in daylight.
Sending urgent items by air
Furniture goes by road, but boxes that can’t wait, such as school papers, work equipment or a baby’s clothes, can go as domestic air cargo from King Khalid Airport in Riyadh to Taif airport within one to two days. Air cargo is charged on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher, with volumetric weight = length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000. A 50 × 40 × 40 cm box counts as about 13 kg; if it’s full of books its real weight may be higher, and then that’s what counts. Ask for the air price on the same quote request.
Worked example: Al Suwaidi to Shahar
A family of six moving to be near relatives in Taif, from a four-bedroom, two-living-room house on two floors in Al Suwaidi to a house in Shahar. Load: four bedrooms, men’s and women’s majlis, dining table, aluminium kitchen, two fridges, two washers, five split ACs, two window ACs and about sixty boxes. A large closed truck plus a dyna in Taif because the street is narrow and sloping; five crew in Riyadh and four in Taif. One full day to pack and load, departure at dawn, unloading and assembly finished by sunset. From SAR 1,700 for a four-to-five-room home, plus the kitchen from SAR 370 and AC removal from SAR 115 per unit. They left the window units in Riyadh after learning the Shahar house had partial central AC, which lightened the load and the bill.
Checklist before moving day
- Know where the truck can park outside your Taif home and send us a photo of the street.
- Book your Riyadh building’s lift if management requires it.
- Empty and defrost the fridge and freezer a day early.
- Bag cables, remotes and small screws with labels.
- Keep a two-night bag in your car with warm clothes in winter, medicines, chargers and documents.
- Gold, cash, passports, title deeds, daily medicines, gas cylinders, fuel and aerosols never go in the truck.
Mistakes we see on this route
- Not mentioning the home is in Al Hada or Al Shafa, so a big truck arrives that can’t climb.
- Choosing a low offer with an open truck and getting faded fabric and cracked wood.
- Unlabelled boxes that get carried from room to room twice.
- Moving every AC without asking whether the Taif home needs them.
- Booking at month-end with no notice, when moving demand is heavy.
Steps and the return trip
- Send photos, an item list and the Taif address through the quote page.
- Get an itemised price and day plan, or a free survey in Riyadh.
- Fix the date, truck size and whether a dyna is needed at delivery.
- Packing and loading day, then the drive with updates on the way.
- Unloading, assembly and clearing packing waste in Taif.
We also move from Taif to Riyadh with the same steps, and serve other routes from Riyadh to Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah, Al Baha and Abha. Send your photos and Taif address through the quote request page and we’ll plan both days around your home.
