Furniture Moving from Riyadh to Tayma | Dust-Tight Packing for Homes & Farms

Furniture Moving from Riyadh to Tayma | Dust-Tight Packing for Homes & Farms

Tayma is a quiet oasis town in the north-west of the Kingdom, on the edge of the Nafud desert, about 1,050 km from Riyadh. Al Saif handles furniture moving from Riyadh to Tayma door to door: we dismantle and pack in Riyadh, load a closed truck that runs via Qassim and Hail, then unload and assemble at your house or farm in Tayma, usually within two days. A room or small load starts from SAR 1,500 and a two- or three-room home from SAR 1,680, rising with volume, floors and distance. Send photos through the quote request page for a price after a free survey.

🏜️ Tayma in five points

  • Distance: about 1,050 km: Riyadh → Qassim → Hail → Tayma.
  • Driving: around 11 to 13 hours, split over two days with a driver overnight.
  • From: SAR 1,500 a room, 1,680 for 2–3 rooms, 2,600 for 4–5 rooms, 6,950 a villa.
  • Homes: many are single-storey with wide yards, some inside palm farms.
  • Weather: hot summer days, cold winter nights, and sand that can drift across the road on windy days.

Tayma is not Tabuk: why it gets its own plan

Tayma belongs to the Tabuk region administratively, but it is about 265 km from Tabuk city, and nobody moving there wants their furniture treated as if it were going to Tabuk and coming back. A truck from Riyadh reaches Tayma before Tabuk on the same road, which brings two advantages: the trip is roughly 250 km shorter, and a small load can easily join a Tabuk-bound truck that stops in Tayma first.

The second difference is the housing. Tayma has wide single-storey houses, yards, outdoor majlis rooms, and palm, grape and fruit farms around the town, plus outlying centres such as Al Jahra, Al Qulaibah and Al Muazzam. The questions here are not about lifts and tenth floors but about farm gates, dirt tracks, and the yard furniture and farm tools that come with the house.

Prices for furniture moving from Riyadh to Tayma

Load size From Suits
Room or small load SAR 1,500 a teacher or employee relocating alone; good for shared loads
2–3 rooms SAR 1,680 a small family or mid-size apartment
4–5 rooms SAR 2,600 a family house with two sitting rooms and yard furniture
Villa SAR 6,950 a large home needing a second truck or trailer and a bigger crew

The price rises with volume, floors and distance, and a farm far from paved road adds the extra distance. Add-ons: hoist from SAR 185, kitchen dismantling and installation from SAR 370, AC from SAR 115 per unit, carpentry from SAR 140 per room and VIP packing from SAR 140.

What raises or lowers the cost

  • Shared loads: because Tayma sits on the Tabuk road, small loads find a shared truck fairly easily.
  • Yard and farm items: metal seating, shades, tanks, a small generator all add volume, so include them in your photos.
  • Access: a long dirt track or a narrow gate may need a dyna for the last stretch.
  • Timing: booking early lets us match your move to a north-bound truck close to your date.

The road to Tayma

From Riyadh the truck takes the Qassim expressway and then the Qassim–Hail road, with the usual overnight in Hail after about 620 km. On the morning of day two comes the longest and quietest stage: roughly 400–430 km north-west from Hail through open country along the edges of the Nafud, with towns and stations far apart. This is the stretch that needs care. The driver fills up in Hail, does not skip a good stop, and keeps an eye on the sand along the road. Then the palms of Tayma come into view and the truck enters town around midday, depending on departure time. Routine checkpoints need only the driver’s and truck’s papers.

Distance and time

Point Approx. distance from Riyadh Approx. truck time
Qassim (Buraidah) about 350 km 3.5–4.5 hours
Hail about 620 km 7–8 hours
Tayma about 1,050 km 11–13 hours of driving over two days
Tabuk (for comparison) about 1,300 km about 265 km beyond Tayma

Tayma and road weather

Tayma summers are hot by day with a clear drop at night, and winters are cold, especially at night and dawn. On windy days sand moves along the Nafud edges and can cross the road or cut visibility, so the driver slows or waits it out. In practice that means tight packing to keep fine sand out of drawers and appliances, a separating layer between plastic and wood to avoid condensation on cold nights, and leaving electronics for an hour before switching them on.

A realistic timeline

  1. Day one, morning: dismantling, packing and loading in Riyadh.
  2. Day one, afternoon: on to Qassim and Hail, overnight there.
  3. Day two: early start to Tayma, arriving around midday.
  4. Day two after arrival: unloading and assembly; large homes may run into the morning of day three.

A shared truck often reaches Tayma on much the same schedule, since it is the first stop before Tabuk.

When to plan furniture moving from Riyadh to Tayma

Most people moving to Tayma are employees and teachers with a fixed start date, or families returning to a family home. Bookings get busy before the school year and at month end, so if your date is flexible, mid-month is easier to book and more likely to match a shared north-bound truck. In summer we leave Riyadh early so the hottest hours are spent on the highway rather than loading; in winter we time arrival in Tayma for daylight so unloading is not done in the cold night. During Ramadan working hours shift around the fast, with loading after dawn or after the afternoon prayer depending on the size of the home.

Packing for distance and sand

Two things concern us on the Tayma run: long vibration and fine dust.

  • Drawers are emptied and taped shut, or removed and wrapped separately, so sand cannot get in.
  • Wood gets board or a blanket first, then bubble wrap, with extra corner guards.
  • Mattresses, cushions and rugs go into fully sealed bags.
  • Appliances are wrapped in blankets then plastic; TVs travel upright in reinforced cartons.
  • Metal yard pieces are wrapped separately because their edges scratch furniture.
  • Kitchenware is wrapped piece by piece in divided cartons labelled by room.

Loading and load securing

The closed truck is loaded front to back: heavy appliances and dismantled wardrobes against the front wall, mattresses as a buffer, heavy cartons on the floor, sofas and majlis sets, then light items above. Yard furniture goes in last because it comes off first. Every row is ratchet-strapped and gaps filled with blankets. The driver checks the straps in Qassim, in Hail before the overnight stop, and once more before entering Tayma.

Full or shared truck?

A full home goes direct to Tayma in its own truck. A few items, such as a teacher’s or employee’s furniture, can join a Tabuk- or north-bound truck and come off in Tayma first. It costs less, delivery follows the truck’s route, and your items are clearly labelled.

Why closed?

Over a thousand kilometres, the second half through open sandy country, an open truck means furniture arriving coated in sand, or wet if it meets rain. We always use closed trucks for household furniture.

Pickup in Riyadh, delivery in Tayma

We collect across Riyadh: the north (Al Malqa, An Narjis, Hittin, Al Qairawan), the east (An Naseem, Al Rawdah, Al Hamra), the west (Dhahrat Laban, Al Suwaidi), the south (Al Shifa, Al Aziziyah, Badr) and the centre (Al Malaz, Al Olaya). In Tayma we deliver to the old town around the Haddaj well, the newer districts, the farms and rest houses on the outskirts, and the outlying centres. We always ask for a map pin, the gate width and whether there is paved access to the door.

Unloading and assembly

The supervisor calls ahead and agrees where the truck will park. Yard furniture comes off first, then pieces go into rooms and beds, wardrobes and kitchen are assembled, and cartons are checked with you. Since most houses are single-storey a hoist is rarely needed, but it is available. Book AC fitting with the move if you need it.

Sending urgent items by air

Tayma has no passenger airport; the nearest is Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Airport in Tabuk, about 265 km away. If you need documents, a device or a few cartons before the furniture, they can fly as domestic air cargo from King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh to Tabuk within one to two days, then come on by road to Tayma. Pricing is on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher, with volumetric weight = length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000. Often the truck reaches Tayma in about the same time, so air here is for essential documents only; the furniture goes by road.

Worked example: a teacher from Al Hamra to Tayma

A teacher living in a two-room apartment in Al Hamra, east Riyadh, has been posted to Tayma and rented a small single-storey house with a yard near the town centre. The load: a bedroom set, a sitting room, a small table, fridge, washer, TV, one AC unit and about twenty cartons.

  1. Quote: by photos on the 2–3 room tier from SAR 1,680; we suggested a shared Tabuk-bound truck to lower the cost.
  2. Loading: on the Thursday morning he chose, three hours of dismantling and packing.
  3. Road: overnight in Hail, then on to Tayma in the morning.
  4. Arrival: Tayma was the truck’s first stop, so his things arrived at midday on day two; the bedroom was assembled and cartons placed before the truck continued to Tabuk.

Included, extra and insurance

  • Included: crew, dismantling and assembly, packing, closed truck, fuel, driver’s overnight, unloading.
  • Extra: kitchen, AC units, hoist, VIP packing, storage, access to a distant farm, cleaning.
  • Insurance: on valuables, on request.

Storage

If the Tayma house is not ready, or you are moving in two stages, we keep your furniture packed in storage and deliver when you ask, priced by volume and duration.

Checklist before the Tayma move

  • Send a map pin of the house or farm, and a photo of the gate and track if you can.
  • Photograph the yard, outdoor majlis and store room, not just the rooms.
  • Check power and water at the new home before the furniture arrives.
  • Keep gold, documents, medicines and two days of clothes with you.
  • No full gas cylinders, generator fuel or farm pesticides on the truck.
  • Empty drawers the day before loading.

Common mistakes

  • Asking for a price “to Tabuk” and paying for a longer route than needed.
  • Leaving yard and farm items out of the photos, so the truck is too small.
  • Not checking the farm gate width and track.
  • Leaving drawers open or full, letting sand in or breaking their contents.
  • Choosing a very low offer with an open truck for a thousand kilometres.

Yes, a shared load on a Tabuk- or north-bound truck, which usually stops in Tayma first.
