Furniture moving from Riyadh to Yanbu: the direct answer
It’s about a thousand kilometres. A loaded truck shouldn’t do that in one sitting, so we split it: load in Riyadh on day one and set off, rest in or before Madinah, then finish to Yanbu in the morning and unload and assemble in daylight. A mid-size apartment is done in two days; a villa needs three.
Prices start from SAR 600 for a small load, SAR 1,200 for two or three bedrooms, SAR 1,800 for four to five rooms and SAR 2,000 for a villa. They’re a little higher than the Madinah run because the truck drives roughly another 230 km down to the coast.
Yanbu is three destinations, not one
Yanbu Al Bahr is the city itself, with districts such as Al Shati, Al Rabie, Al Waha and Al Sumairi, a mix of apartment blocks, older houses and newer neighbourhoods. Trucks reach most streets, and older blocks may need a winch. The Royal Commission in Yanbu is the industrial city south of Yanbu Al Bahr, with planned residential districts and wide roads; some employer housing there asks for advance coordination of truck entry and unloading time, so we send you the driver and plate details to submit. Yanbu Al Nakhl lies inland, with farms and standalone houses, and narrow side roads between farms may need a smaller dyna for the last stretch.
Riyadh to Yanbu moving prices
| Load | From | Usual duration |
|---|---|---|
| Room or small load | SAR 600 | Two days including arrival |
| 2–3 bedroom apartment | SAR 1,200 | Two days |
| 4–5 bedroom home | SAR 1,800 | Two to three days |
| Villa | SAR 2,000 | Usually three days |
Prices include the closed truck, fuel, loading, unloading, standard bed and wardrobe dismantling and assembly, and basic wrapping. Priced separately: kitchen dismantling and fitting from SAR 370; AC removal in Riyadh from SAR 115 per unit, with reinstallation in Yanbu priced once we know the wall type and piping; winch from SAR 185 in Riyadh and SAR 325 in Yanbu; extra protection for antiques and sensitive devices; short-term storage and split delivery.
The route: Qassim, Madinah, then the coast

The trip starts on the Qassim highway north of Riyadh, past Sudair and Al Majmaah, reaching Qassim after about 350 km. The truck then heads west on the Qassim–Madinah road through Al Hanakiyah to Madinah, our usual rest point. From Madinah it takes the Madinah–Yanbu expressway down towards the coast, reaching Yanbu Al Nakhl first if that’s your destination, then Yanbu Al Bahr, and south from there to the Royal Commission. Fuel and rest areas are available in Qassim, Al Hanakiyah, Madinah and along the Yanbu road, and the usual highway checkpoints need nothing from you.
Distances and driving times
| Riyadh to | Approx. distance | Truck driving |
|---|---|---|
| Buraidah | about 350 km | 4 hours |
| Madinah | about 850 km | 9–10 hours |
| Yanbu Al Nakhl | about 970 km | 10–11 hours |
| Yanbu Al Bahr | about 1,000 km | 11–12 hours |
| Royal Commission Yanbu | about 1,020–1,040 km | 11–12 hours |
We also deliver to Al Rayis, Badr and Umluj, priced by distance from Yanbu.
How the days run
- Day 1: dismantling, wrapping and labelling from the morning, loading until late afternoon, then departure.
- Night: driving to Madinah and resting there.
- Day 2: about three hours to Yanbu, then unloading and assembly before sunset.
- Day 3: for villas, or if compound entry clearance is delayed.
Packing for the road and the humidity

Riyadh furniture has lived in dry air and is about to meet humid, salty coastal air. That does no harm if it arrives well wrapped and goes indoors quickly, but it does if wood sits uncovered in a courtyard for hours or an electronic device arrives with condensation on it. So wood gets a blanket and stretch film sealed on every side. Electronics go in their original boxes if you have them, or double cardboard with padding, and aren’t opened until they have reached room temperature. Metal parts such as table legs and iron bed frames are fully wrapped against sea air. Mattresses go in sealed plastic bags, and glass and mirrors travel upright in double cardboard or crates.
In the truck heavy items sit low and forward, rows are strapped and gaps filled with mattresses and pillows, because the Madinah–Yanbu road drops from high ground to the coast and an unstrapped load shifts on the descent.
Full truck, shared load, and why closed
If you’re single and moving a room, a desk and some boxes, a shared load to Yanbu saves money, and demand from plant employees on this route is steady. Departure depends on the truck filling, though, and it may unload at another customer in the Royal Commission before you. For apartments and villas we recommend a full truck that leaves on your day and arrives on time.
A thousand kilometres of sun followed by coastal humidity is hard on fabric, wood and electronics in an open truck, so we move homes to Yanbu in closed trucks only.
Pickup in Riyadh, delivery in Yanbu

We collect from all of Riyadh: the north, nearest the Qassim road, including Al Qirawan, Al Malqa, Al Narjis, Al Arid and Al Yasmin; the east including Al Rawdah, Al Naseem, Al Rayyan and Al Khaleej; the west including Al Suwaidi, Dhahrat Laban and Namar; the south including Al Shifa, Badr and Al Aziziyah; and the centre including Al Malaz, Olaya and Al Sulaimaniyah. Narrow streets get a dyna shuttle to the truck on a main road.
| Delivery area | Examples | What we arrange beforehand |
|---|---|---|
| Yanbu Al Bahr | Al Shati, Al Rabie, Al Waha, Al Sumairi | Truck parking and a winch for older blocks |
| Royal Commission | Residential districts of the industrial city | Housing entry via the employer where required |
| Yanbu Al Nakhl | Houses and farms | Smaller dyna for side roads |
Beds and wardrobes are dismantled and numbered with their screws bagged and taped on. Kitchens are dismantled and refitted on request once we have a photo and measurements of the Yanbu space. Air conditioning is essential here, unlike some highland cities, so most customers bring their units; we remove them carefully in Riyadh and cap the pipe openings against road dust.
Insurance, storage and weather
Valuable pieces can be insured on request with the value agreed before loading. Employees often arrive before their Royal Commission housing is handed over or before a Yanbu Al Bahr lease starts, so we store furniture short-term and deliver when the home is ready, priced by size and duration.
Summer is hot on the Qassim and Madinah roads, so we drive in the evening and at night and pause at midday; dust over open country sometimes means waiting for visibility. On the coast humidity is high most of the year, and summer middays are draining for crews and furniture alike, so we start unloading early. Winter is milder, with a few rainy days.
Sending urgent items by air
If you start work in Yanbu before the truck arrives and need your work computer, uniform or appointment papers, we send them as domestic air cargo from King Khalid Airport in Riyadh to Yanbu airport, or to Madinah airport if no suitable cargo service runs to Yanbu, usually within one to two days. Air cargo is charged on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher; volumetric weight = length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000. A 70 × 45 × 30 cm clothes box counts as 15.75 kg, so if it actually weighs 10 kg you pay on the volumetric figure. Ask for the air price with your furniture quote.
Worked example: Al Qirawan to the Royal Commission
An employee of an industrial company in Yanbu, living with his family on the ground floor of a duplex villa in Al Qirawan with four bedrooms, a living room and a majlis, is moving into a house in a Royal Commission district. Load: four bedrooms, majlis, living room, dining table, wooden kitchen, two fridges, washer and dryer, six split ACs, children’s outdoor toys and about fifty boxes. A large closed truck, five crew in Riyadh and four in Yanbu. He sent the truck and driver details to his employer to arrange housing entry. One day to pack and load, a night in Madinah, and unloading and assembly finished by mid-afternoon on day two. From SAR 1,800 for four to five rooms, plus the kitchen from SAR 370 and AC removal from SAR 115 per unit.
A smaller case: a single engineer moved his room, desk and twenty boxes from Al Malqa to a flat in Al Rabie on a shared load from SAR 600. His things arrived three days later, which suited him because he wasn’t in a hurry.
Checklist
- Find out whether your Royal Commission housing needs entry coordination and request it early.
- Send us the map pin and a street photo.
- Empty and dry the fridge a day ahead; disconnect the washer and let it drain.
- Bag cables and remotes, and photograph the TV connections.
- Keep a two-day bag in your car. Gold, cash, passports, contracts, certificates, daily medicines, gas cylinders, fuel and aerosols stay with you.
- Sell or donate what you don’t need; every extra piece costs a thousand kilometres.
Common mistakes on the Yanbu route
- Not separating Yanbu Al Bahr, the Royal Commission and Yanbu Al Nakhl, so the quote is for one address and moving day reveals another.
- Leaving furniture in the courtyard after unloading, where humidity and salt get to wood and metal.
- Switching on devices straight away while condensation is still on them.
- Forgetting housing entry coordination, so the truck waits at the gate.
- Taking a low offer that says nothing about packing or truck type, which usually means an open truck and thin wrapping.
Steps, and moving back
- Send photos and your exact Yanbu area through the quote page.
- Get an itemised quote and day plan, or a free survey in Riyadh.
- Fix the date; we send truck details if your housing needs clearance.
- Dismantling, packing and loading in Riyadh, then the drive with a night in Madinah.
- Unloading, assembly and clearing packing waste in Yanbu.
We also move from Yanbu Al Bahr, the Royal Commission and Yanbu Al Nakhl back to Riyadh, and run other routes from Riyadh to Madinah, Jeddah, Taif and Tabuk. Send your photos and Yanbu area through the quote request page and we’ll plan the days so your home arrives when you’re ready for it.
