Furniture Moving from Jeddah to Al Kharj | Packing, Closed Trucks & Assembly in Al Sih and Al Dilam
If your job or studies have taken you to Al Kharj, Muasasat Al Saif can take your home from Jeddah and set it up again in Al Sih, Al Dilam, Al Salamiyah or any district of the governorate. We dismantle and pack in Jeddah, from Obhur, Al Naeem and Al Samer to the southern districts, load a closed truck for the roughly 1,000 km trip, then unload and reassemble at your new address. A room or small load starts from SAR 560, a mid-size apartment from SAR 1,120 and a villa from SAR 1,850, with the final figure depending on volume, floors and extras. Send photos through our quote request page and you will get a clear number.
🌴 Jeddah to the Al Kharj oasis at a glance
- Distance: about 1,000 km, roughly an hour beyond Riyadh.
- Driving: 11–13 hours for a truck with rest stops.
- Whole move: usually two days, three for villas or large kitchens.
- From: SAR 560 room, SAR 1,120 apartment, SAR 1,700 four to five rooms, SAR 1,850 villa.
- Route bonus: part of the load can be dropped in Riyadh on the way.
How long does a Jeddah to Al Kharj move take?
Al Kharj lies southeast of Riyadh, so the truck covers almost the entire Jeddah–Riyadh highway and then about 80 km more to the south. We plan the job around that: one day in Jeddah for dismantling, packing and loading, 11 to 13 hours on the road, and a day in Al Kharj for unloading and assembly. A typical three-bedroom home is done in two days; villas, or homes with a wooden kitchen and many AC units, may take a third.
Many people arriving in Al Kharj start in a temporary flat or wait for a landlord to finish a rented house. If that is you, tell us before booking. A few days of storage often makes more sense than unloading into a place you will leave in a month.
Furniture moving from Jeddah to Al Kharj: prices
| Load | From | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| One room or a few items | SAR 560 | Students and single employees |
| Two- to three-bedroom apartment | SAR 1,120 | Includes dismantling, packing, basic assembly |
| Four to five rooms | SAR 1,700 | Mid-size families and full floors |
| Villa | SAR 1,850 | Confirmed after photos or a visit |
Extras at the Al Kharj end follow Riyadh-area rates: crane lift from SAR 185, bedroom assembly from SAR 140 per room, kitchen dismantling and installation from SAR 370, AC from SAR 115 per unit. In Jeddah the crane starts from SAR 280 and AC removal alone from SAR 45.
What moves the price: the real volume rather than the number of rooms, the floor and lift at both ends, kitchens and heavy items, a dedicated truck versus a shared load, a second drop in Riyadh, and access to the house, especially farms and rest houses outside the built-up area.
The route
The truck leaves Jeddah on the Makkah road, bypasses Makkah onto Highway 40 towards As Sayl Al Kabir, then Al Muwayh, Zalim, Al Quwayiyah and Al Muzahmiyah. On the outskirts of Riyadh the driver keeps clear of the city centre, takes the southern roads and then the Al Kharj expressway straight to Al Sih, the governorate’s main town. From there roads branch south to Al Dilam and to nearby Al Salamiyah and Al Yamamah.

The highway is dual carriageway with regular fuel stations; the hardest stretch is the long desert section between Al Muwayh and Al Quwayiyah, which gets very hot in summer. Checkpoints are routine and the driver’s load list is enough. If we are due to arrive at night, we agree on a morning unload, because many Al Kharj streets are quiet residential lanes.
| Destination | Approx. distance from Jeddah | Driving time |
|---|---|---|
| Al Sih (Al Kharj city) | about 1,000 km | 11–13 hours |
| Al Salamiyah | about 1,000 km | 11–13 hours |
| Al Dilam | about 1,040 km | 12–13 hours |
| Hotat Bani Tamim | about 1,080 km | 12–14 hours |
| Riyadh (partial drop) | about 950 km | 10–12 hours |
Pickup and delivery districts
In Jeddah we collect from the north (Obhur North and South, Al Shati, Al Naeem, Al Zahra, Al Basateen), the centre (Al Salamah, Al Rawdah, Al Andalus, Al Rehab, Al Aziziyah), the east (Al Samer, Al Hamdaniyah, Al Safa, Al Marwah, Al Faisaliyah) and the south (Al Jamiah, Al Sanabel, Al Khumrah, Al Harazat). In Al Kharj we deliver to central Al Sih (Al Aziziyah, Al Khalidiyah, Al Nahdah), newer districts such as Al Zahir, Al Khuzama, Al Rashidiyah and Al Andalus, Al Salam and Al Nuzhah, and outside Al Sih to Al Dilam, Al Salamiyah, Al Yamamah and farms. Farm and rest-house addresses can sit on dirt tracks or behind narrow gates, so send us a map pin and a photo of the entrance; if needed, a smaller vehicle covers the last stretch.
Packing for the change from coastal to inland air
Furniture leaves humid Jeddah for air that is dry and hot in summer and cold at night in winter. Particleboard absorbs moisture on the coast and loses it inland, so we never wrap wardrobes and beds directly in film. Cotton blankets or kraft paper go first, film on the outside, with slight ventilation at the edges. Leather and fabric sofas are well covered, because windy days in Al Kharj carry dust from farms and roads.

- Strong, full boxes numbered and labelled with the room in the new Al Kharj home.
- Plates and glasses wrapped individually and stood on edge.
- TVs and mirrors between cardboard sheets with corner guards.
- A screw bag taped to every dismantled piece.
- Fridge unplugged and dried a day ahead, washer fully drained.
Loading for two drop-off points
Because the truck passes through Riyadh, some families drop part of the load there, for a son at university or the family house. We plan it from the start: Riyadh items at the back near the doors, Al Kharj items at the front. The crew unloads in Riyadh without disturbing the rest, then re-tightens the straps before continuing, since empty space lets pieces slide.

Heavy items go low, mirrors stand against a padded wall, sofas sit between mattresses and straps are tightened after every layer. Shared loads to Al Kharj run less often than to Riyadh and may wait days to fill, so with a fixed work date a dedicated truck is safer. We do not use open trucks for household furniture on this distance.
Dismantling and assembly
The carpenter dismantles bedrooms, wardrobes and large tables in Jeddah and numbers every part. In Al Kharj the crew rebuilds them in the rooms you assign. Kitchens are an extra and may need small adjustments if the new walls differ in length. Split ACs can be removed in Jeddah and installed in Al Kharj on request.
Weather on the road and in Al Kharj
In summer we drive after Asr or overnight and unload in the morning, since midday heat in Al Kharj is hard on the crew and the appliances. Winter nights are cold and early fog can settle near the farms, so we drive by day. When a dust storm gets heavy, the driver waits it out.
Sending urgent items by air
Al Kharj has no domestic airport; the nearest is King Khalid International in Riyadh. Urgent boxes such as appointment papers, university files or a work laptop can fly from King Abdulaziz International in Jeddah to Riyadh in one or two days, then be collected at the airport or driven on to Al Kharj. Charges use actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher: length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000. A 50 × 40 × 40 cm box counts as about 13 kg even if it weighs 6. Furniture always stays on the truck. Ask for the air price in the same quote.
Insurance and storage
Valuable items can be insured on request after we record their condition before loading. Storage on arrival is available in a closed warehouse on pallets, priced by time and space. Gold, cash, documents, medicines and gas cylinders stay with you, never in the truck.
Worked example: Al Naeem to Al Zahir
An employee moving with his wife and two children from a second-floor, no-lift, three-bedroom flat in Al Naeem to a ground-floor home in Al Zahir: master bedroom, kids’ room, small majlis, aluminium kitchen, two split ACs and about 40 boxes, plus a bed and wardrobe for his brother in Al Aziziyah, Riyadh. One carpenter and three movers started just after Fajr; the wide staircase meant no crane. The brother’s items were loaded by the doors. The truck left after Asr, dropped in Riyadh in the morning and reached Al Kharj before noon, with assembly done the same day and the kitchen that evening. The apartment tier starts from SAR 1,120, plus the kitchen from SAR 370 and the two ACs; the final price was set after photos, including the Riyadh stop.
Checklist and common mistakes
- Leave behind furniture you will not need; moving it can cost more than it is worth.
- Confirm the handover date of the new home and that power and water work.
- Send door sizes if you have a large sofa, and photos of farm access roads.
- Pack a bag for the first days: clothes, medicines, chargers, documents.
- Do not assume Al Kharj is “part of Riyadh” for timing, do not mention a Riyadh drop only on loading day, and do not book a shared load against a fixed work date.
How booking works
- Send photos and both locations through the quote page.
- Get a quote with volume, truck type, extras and drop-off points.
- Loading day in Jeddah, then the drive with regular updates.
- Unloading and assembly in Al Kharj; we take the packing waste away.
We also move in the opposite direction, from Al Kharj, Al Dilam and Al Salamiyah back to Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah, and from Jeddah to Riyadh, Qassim, Hail, the Eastern Province and the south.
