Furniture moving from Jeddah to Dammam: the short answer
Most people ask us three things: what it costs, how long it takes, and whether the furniture will arrive in one piece. Cost starts at the figures above and is confirmed after we see what you are moving, because two “three-bedroom” apartments can differ in volume by half. Time is two to three days door to door, since a loaded truck needs 14 to 16 hours of driving and no driver should do that in one stretch. And whether your furniture arrives intact depends mostly on packing and strapping inside the box, which is why we spend real time on both.
Why the route goes through Riyadh
There is no direct motorway across the peninsula from Jeddah to the Eastern Province. Trucks take Highway 40, which starts in Jeddah and ends in Dammam, about 1,395 km in total. We think of it in three legs:
Jeddah to Dhalim
The truck heads east towards Makkah, uses the bypass roads for vehicles that do not enter the central area, and joins the Riyadh expressway past As Sayl Al Kabir. The road then climbs gradually onto the Najd plateau through Al Muwayh and Dhalim. We avoid stacking heavy items at the very back of the box so they do not press on lighter pieces during the climb.
Dhalim to Riyadh
The longest and dullest leg, through Al Quway’iyah and Al Muzahmiyah into western Riyadh. Fuel stations are spread out here, so refuelling is planned before departure. The overnight stop usually falls on this leg or on the edge of Riyadh.
Riyadh to Dammam
About 400 km on the Riyadh–Dammam expressway, crossing the red sands of Ad Dahna and passing near Abqaiq before reaching greater Dammam, where roads branch off to Khobar, Dhahran, Qatif and Jubail. There are routine checkpoints at the approaches to major cities; our driver carries the truck papers and a contents list with the receiver’s name, so stops are short.

Jeddah to Dammam moving prices by home size
| Load | From | Usual truck |
|---|---|---|
| One room or a few items | SAR 1,400 | Closed dyna or space in a shared truck |
| 2 – 3 bedroom apartment | SAR 2,300 | Medium closed-box truck |
| 4 – 5 bedroom apartment | SAR 3,500 | Large closed-box truck |
| Villa | SAR 6,500 | Large truck or two trucks |
The price covers dismantling, packing, loading, transport, unloading and reassembly of whatever we took apart. Things that move it up or down: the real number of large pieces and boxes, floor level and lift size, kitchen dismantling (from SAR 370), AC units (dismantling in Jeddah from SAR 45, installation in Dammam from SAR 115 per unit), a crane hoist if the stairs are too tight (from SAR 280 in Jeddah, from SAR 185 in Dammam), VIP packing for fragile or valuable items (from SAR 140), and storage if your new home is not ready.
Distances and timing to Dammam and nearby towns
| Destination | Approx. distance from Jeddah | Truck driving | Usual delivery |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dammam | 1,350 – 1,400 km | 14 – 16 h | Day 2 or 3 |
| Khobar / Dhahran | 1,370 – 1,420 km | 14 – 16 h | Day 2 or 3 |
| Qatif / Saihat | 1,380 – 1,430 km | 15 – 17 h | Usually day 3 |
| Jubail | 1,440 – 1,490 km | 16 – 17 h | Usually day 3 |
| Al Ahsa / Hofuf | about 1,250 km | 13 – 15 h | Day 2 |
Our rule of thumb is one hour per 90 – 100 km for a loaded truck, plus short breaks and a full night’s rest. Anyone promising same-day delivery from Jeddah to Dammam is not counting the rest stops.
A realistic two- to three-day timeline
- Day 1 morning: the crew arrives in Jeddah; one team dismantles bedrooms and wardrobes while another packs the kitchen and boxes.
- Day 1 afternoon: loading, heavy items and appliances first, then flat panels, then boxes, strapping each row.
- Day 1 evening: the truck leaves and covers part of the road before the night stop.
- Day 2: through Riyadh to the Eastern Province; we call you a few hours before arrival.
- Day 2 evening or day 3 morning: our Dammam crew unloads and reassembles beds, wardrobes, kitchen and ACs if ordered.
Long-distance packing and load securing

Packing for a half-hour city move protects against scratches. Packing for 1,400 km has to cope with hours of vibration, high temperatures inside the box in summer, and coastal humidity on arrival. Wooden surfaces get bubble wrap, then a thick moving blanket, with cardboard corner guards. Mirrors and glass tops travel upright between two sheets of board. Dishes are wrapped one by one and packed in divided cartons that are full but not bulging. Sofas get a full plastic cover against dust, mattresses go into sealed mattress bags, the fridge is emptied and dried a day earlier, and the washing machine drum is locked. Screws and small fittings go into numbered bags taped to the piece they belong to, so the carpenter in Dammam is not hunting for a bed bolt.
Loading: closed or open truck, full or shared load

We use closed-box trucks for household furniture on this route. They keep out sun, dust and the sand that blows across the Dahna stretch, and rain if the trip falls in winter. Open trucks with a tarp are only suitable for sturdy metal or outdoor items. A full truck is yours alone and leaves straight after loading; it is the normal choice for mid-size apartments and villas. A shared load suits a room or a handful of items: it costs less, but departure waits until the truck is full, which can add a day or more. Shared items are separated with a divider and labelled with your name.
Dismantling in Jeddah, reassembly in Dammam
Because of the distance, the crew that dismantles is often not the crew that reassembles. Every room gets a number, every panel carries a label with the room and piece name, and wardrobes with sliding doors are photographed at each step. Kitchen cabinets are numbered and the stone worktop travels upright. Send us the kitchen measurements of the new home; if they differ, the kitchen may need small adjustments, which we price in advance (carpentry from SAR 140 per room).
Pickup areas in Jeddah and delivery areas in Dammam
We collect from every Jeddah district, from Obhur Al Shamaliyah, Al Shati and Al Muhammadiyah in the north, through Al Rawdah, Al Khalidiyah and Al Safa, to Al Samer, Al Ajwad and Al Harazat in the east and the older areas such as Al Sharafiyah, Al Baghdadiyah and Al Hindawiyah. In Dammam we deliver to Al Shati, Al Faisaliyah, Al Khaleej, Al Jalawiyah, Al Rayyan, King Fahd Suburb, Al Nada, Al Shulah, Al Mazruiyah, Taibah and the rest of the city. Where a street is too narrow for the big truck, a small dyna shuttles items between the building and the nearest main road.
Weather along the route
Jeddah’s summer humidity means mattresses and sofas are sealed before they leave the flat. Between Dhalim and Riyadh temperatures can pass 40°C, so we prefer evening departures and keep candles and cosmetics out of the load. Wind can carry sand onto the road across Ad Dahna, and winter mornings in the Eastern Province can bring fog near the coast; in both cases the driver slows down or waits. Unloading in the occasional winter rain is done under plastic covers.
Sending urgent items by air
The furniture itself goes by road. But you may need a few things in Dammam before the truck arrives: work files, school papers, a week of clothes, a spare laptop. We can send a few boxes as domestic air cargo from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah to King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, arriving in one to two days. Air cargo is charged on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher; volumetric weight is length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000. A 50 × 40 × 40 cm box counts as about 13.3 kg even if it weighs 9 kg, so pack boxes full rather than using big half-empty ones.
Insurance, valuables and storage
Insurance for the goods in transit is available on request, based on the value of the items you want covered. We photograph sensitive pieces with you before loading and note any existing marks. Gold, cash, passports and official documents, daily medicines and gas cylinders never go in the truck. If your Dammam home is not ready, the load can go into a closed, air-conditioned store still wrapped, and we deliver and assemble when you are ready; storage is priced by volume and duration through the quote page.
Worked example: Al Samer, Jeddah to King Fahd Suburb, Dammam
A family of five in a third-floor, three-bedroom flat in Al Samer, with a small lift, moving to a ground-floor villa unit in King Fahd Suburb. The load: a master bedroom, two children’s rooms, a majlis, a six-seat dining table, fridge, washer, cooker, a small aluminium kitchen, three split ACs and about 45 boxes. The master wardrobe and the sofas did not fit the lift, so we used the hoist for those pieces only. Five workers and a carpenter in Jeddah; four workers, a carpenter and an AC technician in Dammam. Packing and loading took until 4 pm, the truck reached Dammam the next afternoon, and the family chose assembly on the morning of day three. Base price from SAR 2,300 for a three-bedroom flat, plus the Jeddah hoist from SAR 280 and AC installation from SAR 115 per unit; two boxes of school papers went by air.
Preparation checklist and common mistakes
- Book a week ahead, two weeks around month-end and school holidays.
- Get rid of what you do not need; every extra piece travels 1,400 km.
- Empty and unplug the fridge 24 hours before.
- Keep documents, gold and medicines in one hand bag.
- Confirm when you get the keys in Dammam and that power is connected.
The mistakes we see most: accepting a low quote that says nothing about packing, putting wooden furniture on an open truck, not numbering screws, expecting same-day delivery, and having the truck arrive before the new home is handed over.
How the job runs, and the return trip
You send photos or book a survey, we confirm volume, truck, crew and a final price, agree the loading day and expected delivery, pack and load in Jeddah, keep in touch on the road, and unload and assemble in Dammam while you check every piece.
