Furniture Moving from Jeddah to Al Khobar | Tower Lift Coordination, Packing & Assembly

Furniture Moving from Jeddah to Al Khobar | Tower Lift Coordination, Packing & Assembly

Most people moving to Al Khobar end up in one of two kinds of home: an apartment in a tower on the Corniche or in Al Olaya and Al Rakah, or a villa or low-rise flat in residential districts such as Al Thuqbah, Al Yarmouk and Al Hizam Al Thahabi. Each needs a different arrival plan. At Muasasat Al Saif we run the whole job for furniture moving from Jeddah to Al Khobar: dismantling and packing in Jeddah, a closed truck covering roughly 1,370 to 1,420 km via Riyadh, then unloading and reassembly in Khobar, including service-lift coordination if you are moving into a tower. A room or small load starts from SAR 1,400 and a two- to three-bedroom apartment from SAR 2,300. Send photos through the quote request page for a final price.

Furniture moving from Jeddah to Al Khobar: distance, time and price

The distance is about 1,370 to 1,420 km depending on where you live in Jeddah and which part of Khobar you are heading to. A loaded truck averages 90 to 100 km an hour, so it needs around 15 hours of driving, which cannot be done safely without an overnight rest. The whole job therefore runs two to three days: one day for dismantling, packing, loading and departure, one for the road, and reassembly on the evening of day two or the morning of day three. Prices start from SAR 1,400 for a room, SAR 2,300 for two to three bedrooms, SAR 3,500 for four to five bedrooms and SAR 6,500 for a villa, rising with volume, floor and whatever your Khobar building requires.

Moving into a Khobar tower: what changes

Towers on the Corniche, in Al Olaya and in North Al Rakah have management offices that control furniture coming in and out:

  • Service lift: usually booked for a fixed window. We tell you how long your load needs so the booking does not run out with half the furniture still on the truck.
  • Loading bay: some towers have a rear entrance or basement bay that a large truck cannot reach; we shuttle items in with a small dyna.
  • Permitted hours: many buildings do not allow moves at night or at peak times, so we time the truck’s arrival accordingly.
  • Protection: we line lift walls and corridor floors with boards and blankets, which some managements require.
  • Door widths: tower apartment doors can be narrower than a large corner sofa, so we measure and dismantle in advance.

Villas and walk-up buildings in Al Thuqbah, Al Aqrabiyah, Al Yarmouk and Al Hizam Al Thahabi are simpler; what matters there is street width and where the truck can park. If there is no lift and the stairs are tight, a crane hoist in the Eastern Province starts from SAR 185.

The road from Jeddah to Khobar

The truck leaves Jeddah on the Makkah road, takes the bypass routes onto the Riyadh expressway, and passes As Sayl Al Kabir, Al Muwayh, Dhalim, Al Quway’iyah and Al Muzahmiyah into Riyadh. From the capital it takes the Riyadh–Dammam expressway across the Dahna sands and near Abqaiq, then turns south from greater Dammam into Khobar via King Fahd Road or the Dhahran–Khobar road, depending on the district. The overnight rest is usually near Riyadh, roughly halfway. There are routine checkpoints at city approaches; the driver carries the truck papers, a contents list and the receiver’s name.

From Jeddah to Approx. distance Driving
Khobar (Al Olaya, Corniche) 1,380 – 1,420 km 14 – 16 h
South Khobar, Al Aziziyah, Half Moon Bay 1,400 – 1,440 km 15 – 16 h
Dhahran 1,370 – 1,410 km 14 – 16 h
Dammam 1,350 – 1,400 km 14 – 16 h
Al Ahsa about 1,250 km 13 – 15 h

Day-by-day plan

Day 1 in Jeddah: the crew arrives in the morning; dismantling and packing a three-bedroom flat usually takes four to six hours, then two to three hours of loading and strapping. The truck leaves in the afternoon or evening. Night: the driver covers part of the road, then rests. Day 2: on through Riyadh to the Eastern Province; we call ahead and match arrival to your service-lift booking. Day 2 evening or day 3 morning: unloading and reassembly. For towers we prefer mornings, since managements generally permit moves during the day.

Packing for a 1,400 km trip

Khobar is humid and so is Jeddah, with hot desert in between, so packing has to deal with heat, humidity and vibration together. Wood gets bubble wrap and a moving blanket with corner guards. Mattresses go in sealed bags so they do not soak up moisture when unloaded on the coast. Fabric sofas are fully covered in plastic, then the arms are padded. TVs travel in original boxes where available, otherwise between boards with padding. China and crystal are wrapped piece by piece. Chandeliers are dismantled and packed on their own, never under other items. We label each box with its room in the Khobar home, not the Jeddah one, so it goes straight to the right place. Inside the box, heavy appliances sit on the floor at the front, flat panels stand with dividers, and every row is strapped before the next.

Loading and truck type

For household furniture on this route we always use a closed box; a tarp-covered open truck lets in dust and sand and leaves fabric and wood in the sun for hours, so we only suggest it for metal or garden furniture. A full truck is yours alone and leaves as soon as it is loaded, which suits most apartments and villas. A shared truck suits someone moving a room or a few pieces, such as an employee relocating alone into a part-furnished flat; it costs less, but departure depends on the truck filling up. Your items are kept in a separate, labelled section.

Dismantling in Jeddah, reassembly in Khobar

Every room and panel is numbered, screws go into numbered bags taped to the piece, and large wardrobes are photographed as they come apart, so the Khobar crew rebuilds without guesswork. For tower flats we ask for the new room sizes: a wardrobe that filled a four-metre wall in Jeddah may not find an equal wall in Khobar. Kitchens are dismantled and refitted from SAR 370, and any adjustment needed is priced before loading.

Pickup districts in Jeddah, delivery districts in Khobar

In Jeddah we collect from Al Rawdah, Al Khalidiyah, Al Zahra, Al Salamah, Obhur Al Shamaliyah, Al Shati, Al Muhammadiyah, Al Safa, Al Marwah, Al Naeem, Al Samer, Al Ajwad, Al Hamdaniyah, Al Sharafiyah, Al Aziziyah and every other district. In Khobar we deliver to the Corniche, Al Olaya, North Khobar, North and South Al Rakah, Al Bandariyah, Al Thuqbah, Al Aqrabiyah, South Khobar, Al Yarmouk, Al Hizam Al Thahabi, Al Rawabi, Qurtubah, Al Tahliyah and Al Aziziyah. Al Thuqbah and Al Aqrabiyah are older with tighter inner streets, so the big truck may wait on the main road while a small dyna finishes the run.

Sending urgent items by air

If you start work in Khobar before the truck arrives, you may need work clothes, appointment papers, a laptop or a few toys straight away. We send a box or two as domestic air cargo from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah to King Fahd International Airport, which serves Khobar, in one to two days. It is charged on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher: length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000. A 60 × 40 × 30 cm box counts as 12 kg; fill it with 6 kg of clothes and you pay for 12, fill it with 15 kg of books and you pay for 15. The furniture itself stays on the truck.

Weather, insurance and storage

Central Saudi summers can pass 40°C, so we prefer evening departures and keep candles and perfumes out of the load. Wind can push sand across the road in Ad Dahna, and Khobar brings summer humidity and the odd winter morning fog near the sea; wrappings stay on until each piece is inside. Insurance is available on request according to the value you want covered. Storage is common on this route because tower leases often start on a fixed date or a part-furnished flat cannot take everything; we keep the load wrapped in a closed, air-conditioned store and deliver when you ask. Gold, cash, official documents, daily medicines and gas cylinders never go on the truck.

Worked example: Al Rawdah, Jeddah to a Corniche tower in Khobar

A couple in a two-bedroom flat with a lift in Al Rawdah moved to a 12th-floor apartment in a Corniche tower. Load: a bedroom with a six-door wardrobe, a study, a large corner sofa, a glass dining table, two TVs, fridge, washer and about 30 boxes; their two split ACs stayed in Jeddah because the new flat has central air. The service lift was booked for the morning of day three, and the basement bay could not take the big truck, so a small dyna carried the load down in two runs. The corner sofa needed two sections removed to pass the door. Four workers and a carpenter at each end. Price from SAR 2,300 for two bedrooms, with VIP packing for the glass table surface from SAR 140. Booking the lift a week ahead is what kept the date.

Checklist and common mistakes

  • Book a week ahead, two weeks at month-end.
  • Ask your Khobar tower about moving hours, lift booking and the loading bay.
  • Send door and room measurements if you have them.
  • Label every box with its room in the new home.
  • Decide in advance what stays in Jeddah.

Mistakes we see: arriving at a tower without a lift booking, moving more furniture than the new flat holds and scrambling for storage, accepting a quote that does not say who assembles in Khobar, open trucks for fabric sofas, and unbagged mattresses in humid air.

How it works, and the return trip

Send photos and both addresses, receive a final price, agree the loading day while you coordinate with your Khobar building, then we dismantle, pack, load, drive via Riyadh, unload and reassemble while you check each item. We also move from Khobar, Dammam and Dhahran back to Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah, and within Khobar later on, where a dyna trip starts from SAR 175. Start from the request a quote page.
