Furniture Moving from Jeddah to Madinah | Closed Trucks on the Hijrah Road with a Carpenter Travelling Along

Furniture moving from Jeddah to Madinah with Muasasat Al Saif starts in your Jeddah home: we dismantle beds, wardrobes and the kitchen, wrap every piece and load it into a closed truck that covers about 420 km on the Hijrah road in four and a half to five and a half hours, then unload and reassemble in your home in Quba, Al Aziziyah, Shuran, Al Oyoun or any other district. A small flat is usually done in one long day; larger flats and villas take two. A room or small load starts from SAR 930, a two-to-three-bedroom flat from SAR 1,400 and a villa from SAR 3,700, rising with volume, floor level and district. Send photos through our quote request page for an itemised price.

Furniture moving from Jeddah to Madinah: the direct answer

For a two-to-three-bedroom flat the usual plan looks like this: we reach your Jeddah home at 7 am, finish dismantling, packing and loading around midday, the truck arrives in Madinah around sunset, and we unload and put beds and wardrobes back together that same evening, finishing the kitchen and details the next morning if needed. A large flat or villa is split over two days: one day in Jeddah for dismantling, packing and loading, an overnight drive, and one day in Madinah for unloading and assembly.

The distance sits right in the middle: long enough to need serious packing and load securing, short enough that your furniture never spends a night parked on the road.

What affects the price

  • Floors and lifts: at either end; a winch may be needed at one or both.
  • Kitchen: removal, refitting and adjustment is extra carpentry.
  • Air conditioners: per unit.
  • District in Madinah: the central area around the Prophet’s Mosque has special traffic arrangements, and outlying districts add time.
  • Premium packing: for chandeliers, antiques and fragile pieces.
  • Storage: if the home is not ready on arrival.

The road from Jeddah to Madinah

Closed moving truck on the Hijrah road between Jeddah and Madinah
Closed moving truck on the Hijrah road between Jeddah and Madinah

The truck leaves Jeddah northbound on the Jeddah–Madinah expressway, joins the Hijrah road that links Makkah and Madinah, passes Asfan and Khulais and carries on north through landscapes that alternate between open plains and dark volcanic hills. There are plenty of rest areas with fuel, mosques and food, and the driver stops roughly halfway to rest and check the straps. There are routine highway checkpoints as on any expressway.

The truck enters Madinah from the south-west near the Dhul Hulaifah miqat at Abyar Ali, then spreads out to the districts: southern ones are right there, northern and eastern ones via the ring roads. Some drivers use an alternative along the coast to Rabigh and then inland via Badr; it is a little longer and we use it only when needed.

Distances from Jeddah and from Madinah

Leg Approx. distance Approx. driving time
Jeddah → Madinah about 420 km 4.5–5.5 hours
Jeddah → Khulais around 100 km about 1.25 hours
Madinah → Badr around 150 km about 2 hours
Madinah → Al Hinakiyah around 100 km about 1.25 hours
Madinah → Khaybar around 170 km about 2 hours
Madinah → Yanbu around 230 km 2.5–3 hours

Madinah districts we deliver to

Side Example districts Delivery notes
South Quba, Qurban, Al Awali, Al Aziziyah, Shuran Closest to the Hijrah road entrance; villas and residential blocks, quick access
North Al Oyoun, Al Jurf, Sayed Al Shuhada, Al Khalidiya Large districts mixing new plans and older houses
East Al Harrah Al Sharqiyah, Al Aqool, Al Iskan Spread out near the airport road, some newly planned
West Al Harrah Al Gharbiyah, Bani Harithah, the Islamic University area Many apartment blocks, student and staff housing
Central area Districts around the Prophet’s Mosque Special traffic rules and set truck hours; smaller vehicles for the last stretch

In the central area and the older districts near it, we do not count on parking a big truck outside the building. We confirm an allowed time window in advance and may shuttle the furniture by small dyna. It helps to ask the building management about lift times before arrival.

Pickup districts in Jeddah

We collect from every Jeddah district. Northern districts such as Obhur North and South, Al Shati, Al Zahra, Al Naeem, Al Mohammadiya and Taibah are closest to the Madinah road exit and shorten the trip. From the centre (Al Rawdah, Al Salamah, Al Safa, Al Marwah, Al Faisaliyah) and the south (Al Jamiah, Al Sanabel, Al Harazat, Al Aziziyah), we head north on the expressways. Corniche towers need a service lift booking and older walk-ups need a winch for upper floors.

A realistic timeline

Small and mid-sized flats: one long day

  1. 7 am: crew arrives in Jeddah and walks through.
  2. 7–11: dismantling and packing.
  3. 11–12:30: loading and strapping.
  4. 12:30–6 pm: the road, with a prayer and rest stop.
  5. 6–10 pm: unloading, beds and wardrobes assembled; kitchen finished in the morning if needed.

Large flats and villas: two days

  1. Day one: dismantling, packing and loading in Jeddah until evening.
  2. Night: the truck travels in the cooler hours.
  3. Day two: unloading and assembly in Madinah from the morning, with a rested crew.

In summer we prefer the two-day plan even for mid-sized flats, because loading at midday in Jeddah and then unloading in Madinah’s afternoon heat wears the crew out and slows assembly.

Packing for 420 km

Mattresses, sofas and wardrobe panels wrapped in Jeddah before a move to Madinah
Mattresses, sofas and wardrobe panels wrapped in Jeddah before a move to Madinah
  • Sofas and majlis: stretch film against dust, then a blanket against rubbing.
  • Wardrobes: fully dismantled, each panel wrapped, screws and hinges in numbered bags taped to the piece.
  • Bedrooms: bed taken apart, mattresses bagged, dressing table and mirror separated.
  • Appliances: fridge emptied and dried a day early, washer drum secured, TVs in dedicated boxes.
  • Kitchen: doors removed and wrapped, worktops carried upright.
  • Crockery and glass: small boxes with paper between pieces.
  • Chandeliers: glass parts removed and wrapped one by one.

Every box carries a number and the name of its room in the new home, a small detail that saves an hour or more when unloading in Madinah.

Loading and securing the load

Wrapped furniture strapped inside a closed truck for a Jeddah to Madinah move

We load in reverse order: what goes into the house first, such as beds and wardrobes, goes on the truck last. Heavy items sit low against the front wall, lighter ones above, and glass and mirrors stand upright in the middle between mattresses. Each row has its own straps, gaps are filled with blankets, and the truck is closed in front of you.

Closed or open truck?

For 420 km we always use a closed truck on full-service moves. Five hours of sun harms fabric, wood and leather, dusty winds are common on this road, and winter can bring rain. An open dyna with a tarp may suit wrapped appliances or a few items for customers who only book the dyna.

Full or shared load?

Full load: the truck is yours, leaves on your date and goes straight there. For flats and villas.

Shared load: your items travel with another customer’s heading to Madinah. Cheaper, but departure depends on the load filling and may slip a day or two. Suits a room or a few pieces, for example a student moving to housing near the university.

Dismantling in Jeddah, assembly in Madinah

The carpenter who dismantles in Jeddah travels with the load and reassembles in Madinah, so the person who took a piece apart is the one who knows where every small part goes. We reassemble bedrooms, wardrobes, children’s rooms, dressing tables and dining tables. For the kitchen we measure the new wall before dismantling where possible and tell you if trimming or adjustment is needed. ACs are removed and refitted per unit, and curtain fitting and TV mounting can be added.

What is included and what is extra

Included in a full move Added on request
Bedroom and wardrobe dismantling and assembly Kitchen removal, refitting and adjustment
Film, blankets and boxes Premium packing for chandeliers and antiques
Loading, unloading and strapping Winch for upper floors
Closed truck, driver and the road ACs per unit
Placing items in their rooms Storage, cleaning after the move, delivery outside Madinah

Insurance and storage on arrival

Insurance: available on request for valuable items, priced on the value you want covered. We take a list and photograph the items with you before loading.

Storage: many people moving to Madinah need it, such as an employee who started work before finding a home, or a family whose new house is still being finished. We keep the furniture in a closed warehouse and deliver and assemble it when the house is ready, priced by volume and duration.

Seasons and timing

  • Ramadan: the central area is very crowded, especially in the last ten nights, so we deliver in the morning and avoid the hours before sunset.
  • Visiting seasons around Hajj: more visitors and buses in Madinah and on the Hijrah road, so reaching districts near the Prophet’s Mosque takes longer.
  • Start of the school year: teachers, students and staff relocate, so book a week or more ahead.
  • End of the month: leases end and the last days fill up.
  • Summer: Madinah is very hot, so night travel and morning unloading are easier on furniture and crew.

Winch and upper floors

Older blocks in Jeddah districts such as Al Aziziyah, Al Sharafiyah and Al Baghdadiyah often have no lift or a narrow one, and the same goes for some older buildings in Madinah’s southern districts and near the central area. A winch lifts wardrobes, sofas and fridges from the street straight to a balcony or window, saving hours on the stairs and protecting walls and furniture. We judge the need from photos of the façade and stairs, and it is added only at the end that needs it.

Weather on the Hijrah road

Jeddah is humid; Madinah is dry, very hot in summer and fairly cold on winter nights. Dusty winds sometimes cross the open plains between them, and the driver slows down until visibility improves. In summer we suggest travelling at night or early morning and unloading in the cooler hours. Candles, perfumes and medicines cannot take the heat in the truck, so carry them in your car. Winter can bring rain on the road, which the closed truck keeps out.

Sending urgent items by air

The furniture goes by road, but if you need some things in Madinah before it arrives, such as work papers, children’s clothes or your work computer, they can go as domestic air cargo from King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah to Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz Airport in Madinah, arriving in one to two days.

Air cargo is charged on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher, where volumetric weight = length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000. A 50 × 50 × 40 cm box counts as about 17 kg, so if it actually weighs 9 kg you pay for 17. Full, compact boxes work out better by air. On this particular route the furniture itself arrives within a day, so most people only use air for things that truly cannot wait.

Worked examples

A family from Al Safa to Al Aziziyah

  • Jeddah: three-bedroom flat on the second floor in Al Safa, with lift.
  • Madinah: first-floor flat in Al Aziziyah.
  • Items: two bedrooms, a children’s room, majlis, dining table, fridge and washer, two ACs, about 30 boxes.
  • Crew and vehicle: four movers and a carpenter, medium closed truck.
  • Schedule: loaded by midday, arrived before sunset, assembly done by 10 pm.
  • Price: from SAR 1,400, with two ACs added per unit.

A villa from Obhur North to Shuran

  • Items: five bedrooms, two majlis sets, living room, large wooden kitchen, six ACs, garden furniture, about 70 boxes.
  • Crew and vehicle: seven movers and two carpenters, a large truck plus a dyna.
  • Schedule: a full day in Jeddah, overnight drive, a full day of unloading and assembly in Shuran.
  • Price: from SAR 3,700, with kitchen and ACs itemised in the quote.

A student moving near the Islamic University

  • Items: bed, small wardrobe, desk, mini fridge, eight boxes.
  • Option: shared load or a small dyna.
  • Price: from SAR 930, less on a shared load for those not in a hurry.

Checklist before moving day

  • Send the Madinah location and say if it is in or near the central area.
  • Ask the Madinah building management about lift times and where the truck can stop.
  • Empty and dry the fridge and freezer a day early.
  • Take down curtains and pictures and bag their screws.
  • Keep gold, cash, documents and medicines with you.
  • No gas cylinder or fuel in the truck.
  • Pack a bag for a day or two.
  • Confirm power and water at the new home.
  • Get rid of pieces you will not use; they add volume and cost.

Choosing the right offer

Offers on this route vary widely, and the gap is usually in what they cover rather than the price itself. Before comparing, ask each company: is the truck closed? Are dismantling and assembly included? Does the carpenter travel with the load, or will you be hunting for one in Madinah? Is packing done with blankets or just film? What happens if the truck arrives late and assembly is not finished? A clear offer answers these in the quote itself.

Common mistakes on Jeddah to Madinah moves

  • Trying to finish a whole villa in one day, so the crew arrives exhausted and assembly is left half-done.
  • Not checking traffic arrangements in the central area before arrival.
  • Loading at summer midday, then unloading in the afternoon heat.
  • Moving a wet fridge that arrives smelling after five hot hours.
  • Not measuring the kitchen wall in the new home.
  • Accepting an open truck for a fairly long road.
  • Leaving important documents inside the boxes.

What does a three-bedroom flat cost from Jeddah to Madinah?

From SAR 1,400 including dismantling, packing and assembly, with ACs, kitchen and winch added as needed.

I only need a dyna for packed items. What is the price?

A half-day dyna from Jeddah to Madinah without dismantling or assembly starts from SAR 750.

Which road does the truck take?

The Jeddah–Madinah expressway and then the Hijrah road past Asfan and Khulais, entering Madinah near Abyar Ali.

Does the carpenter travel with the load?

Yes. The carpenter who dismantles in Jeddah goes with the load and reassembles in Madinah.

Do you deliver near the Prophet's Mosque?

Yes, following the central area's traffic arrangements and truck hours, sometimes using a small dyna for the last stretch.

Why do you suggest two days in summer?

Loading at midday in Jeddah and unloading in Madinah's afternoon heat wears the crew out; a night drive and morning unloading give more careful assembly.

Do you go on to Yanbu, Badr or Khaybar?

Yes, with the extra distance from Madinah added to the quote, and delivery possibly the next day.

How is air cargo for urgent boxes charged?

On actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher (L × W × H in cm ÷ 6000), arriving from Jeddah to Madinah airport in one to two days.

My Madinah home is not ready. Can you store the furniture?

Yes, in a closed warehouse, then we deliver and assemble when the home is ready, priced by volume and duration.

Is a shared load suitable for a student moving to Madinah?

Yes, for a room or a few pieces at lower cost, though departure depends on the load filling.

When is demand highest for Madinah moves?

At the start of the school year, at the end of each month and in visiting seasons, so book early at those times.
