Furniture Moving from Jeddah to Makkah | Same-Day Moves with Dismantling, Assembly and Dabab Access
Jeddah and Makkah are only about 80 km apart, so furniture moving from Jeddah to Makkah with Muasasat Al Saif is usually a one-day job: we dismantle, pack and load in Jeddah in the morning, the truck covers the road in an hour to an hour and a half, and we unload and reassemble everything in your home in Al Awali, Al Sharaye, Al Aziziyah or Al Shawqiyah before evening. A small load or single room starts from SAR 560, a studio from SAR 840, a two-to-three-bedroom flat from SAR 1,400 and a villa from SAR 3,500, rising with volume, floor level and the district in Makkah. Send photos through our quote request page for an itemised price.

Furniture moving from Jeddah to Makkah: what to know first
Because the distance is short, many people assume a move to Makkah is like moving between two Jeddah districts. The road is easy; Makkah itself is different. Many districts sit on mountain slopes with steep streets, the central area around the Grand Mosque has its own traffic arrangements, and certain seasons multiply the crowds. So we plan the move from the arrival end first: which district, can a truck enter the street, is there a lift?
One point everyone in the region knows: entry to Makkah is for Muslims only, so the crew and driver who take your furniture into the city are Muslim, and we arrange this when you book.
The short answer
- Distance: about 80 km from central Jeddah to Makkah’s western entrances.
- Road time: one to one and a half hours, longer at peak times and in busy seasons.
- Job time: 6–10 hours for a mid-sized flat from first screw to last bed.
- Price: from SAR 560, flats from SAR 1,400.

If you only want the truck and crew for loading and unloading, without dismantling, packing or assembly, a jumbo dyna with movers from Jeddah to Makkah starts from SAR 470. The final price follows a free survey or a review of your photos.
What changes the price on this route
- The Makkah district: a sloping street or narrow lane means a smaller vehicle and several shuttles.
- Floors and lifts: at both ends; older blocks in both cities often have no lift.
- Kitchen: removing and refitting is priced separately.
- Air conditioners: per unit.
- Season: Umrah peaks and school holidays push demand up and slow the road.
- Premium packing: for antiques, glassware and fragile pieces.
The road and the entry points

The main route is the Jeddah–Makkah expressway, leaving eastern Jeddah, passing the Bahra area and reaching the Al Shumaisi checkpoint at the Haram boundary before Makkah’s western entrances. From north Jeddah you can join it via the Haramain road without crossing the city centre. The old Makkah road, which also runs through Bahra, is an alternative when the expressway is jammed.
The distance is short; traffic decides the time. Weekday mornings, Thursday evenings and weekends during Umrah peaks can turn one hour into two. We prefer to leave Jeddah around midday once loading is done, or late in the evening for customers who want to unload at night.
Distances and times
| From Jeddah to | Approx. distance | Approx. road time |
|---|---|---|
| West Makkah: Al Shawqiyah, Wali Al Ahd, Al Rusaifah | about 75–85 km | 1–1.25 hours |
| North: Al Taneem, Al Umrah, Al Nawariyah | about 85–95 km | 1.25–1.5 hours |
| East: Al Sharaye, Al Naseem, Al Aziziyah | about 90–100 km | around 1.5 hours |
| South: Al Awali, Batha Quraish, Al Kakiyah | about 85–95 km | 1.25–1.5 hours |
| Al Jumum and Bahra | about 40–70 km | 45 minutes to an hour |
Makkah districts we deliver to
| Area | Example districts | Access and unloading |
|---|---|---|
| West Makkah | Al Shawqiyah, Wali Al Ahd, Al Rusaifah, Al Ukaishiyah, Batha Quraish | Fairly wide streets and newer blocks, easy from the expressway |
| East Makkah | Al Sharaye, Al Naseem, Al Aziziyah, Al Khadra | Large districts with villas and new buildings, longer drive from Jeddah |
| North Makkah | Al Umrah, Al Taneem, Al Nawariyah, Al Zaher | Planned streets in newer parts, lanes in older parts |
| South Makkah | Al Awali, Al Kakiyah, Al Nakkasah | Slopes and narrow streets in places; a dabab may do the last stretch |
| Near the Haram | Jarwal, Al Misfalah, Al Hijrah, Al Utaybiyah | Special traffic rules and set hours for trucks, so we use smaller vehicles |
In districts pressed against the mountains, such as parts of Al Utaybiyah, Jarwal and Al Kakiyah, the last part of the way can be steps or a slope no truck will climb. We check this from your location before moving day and send a dabab or pickup to shuttle the furniture from the truck to your door.
Pickup districts in Jeddah
We collect from the south and east of Jeddah near the Makkah road, such as Al Harazat, Al Sanabel, Al Ajwad, Quwaizah, Al Muntazahat and Al Jamiah; from the centre, including Al Aziziyah, Al Safa, Al Marwah, Al Faisaliyah and Al Rawdah; and from the north, including Obhur North, Al Shati, Al Zahra, Al Naeem and Al Mohammadiya. The closer you are to the Makkah road, the shorter the drive.
How moving day runs
| Approx. time | Stage | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| 7–8 am | Arrival in Jeddah | Crew walks through and agrees the order with you |
| 8–12 | Dismantling and packing | Bedrooms, wardrobes, kitchen; sofas and appliances wrapped |
| 12–1 pm | Loading | In unloading order, glass upright and protected |
| 1–2:30 | The road | Jeddah to your Makkah district |
| 2:30–7 pm | Unloading and assembly | Beds and wardrobes first, then kitchen and majlis |
That is for a three-bedroom flat. A villa or very large flat may be split over two days, or moved in two trucks on the same day.
Packing for a short trip

Ninety minutes on an expressway does not need the heavy packing we use for the Eastern Province, but it does need proper packing. The road bends between the mountains, there are bumps at the entrances, and in Makkah’s hillside districts pieces are often carried by hand up steps or slopes, which is where unwrapped furniture gets damaged.
- Sofas and majlis: stretch film, then blankets on edges and corners.
- Wardrobes: taken down to panels, doors and mirrors wrapped separately, screws in numbered bags.
- Beds: dismantled, mattresses in clean covers.
- Appliances: washer drum secured, fridge emptied and unplugged hours before.
- Kitchenware and glass: small boxes with paper between every piece.
- TVs: in dedicated boxes or between rigid boards, never flat.
Loading in Jeddah and choosing the vehicle

| Vehicle | When we use it |
|---|---|
| Dabab | The last stretch in Makkah lanes and slopes, or very few items |
| Pickup (wanet) | A student’s or single worker’s things, or single appliances |
| Dyna | A room up to a small flat, on medium-width streets |
| Jumbo dyna | A two-to-three-bedroom flat in one trip |
| Closed truck | Large flats and villas, delicate furniture, very hot days |
Closed or open for 80 km?
Over this distance an open dyna with a tarp works if the furniture is well wrapped and the weather mild, and it costs less. In summer, or with new furniture, light fabrics or expensive appliances, a closed truck is the safer choice against sun, dust and a sudden mountain shower.
Shared load?
On such a short route a shared load is rarely needed, because a private dyna trip for a room is not expensive. It can help someone sending one or two pieces who is not in a hurry.
Dismantling in Jeddah, assembly in Makkah
The carpenter who takes your furniture apart in Jeddah is usually the one who puts it back together in Makkah the same day, which is the big advantage of a short route. We reassemble bedrooms, wardrobes, dressing tables, dining tables and children’s beds. For the kitchen, we try to measure the new wall before dismantling, because Makkah flat kitchens can differ in length and in where the water and drain points sit. Split and window ACs are removed and refitted per unit, and curtain fitting and TV wall mounting can be added.
What is included and what is extra
| Included in a full move | Added as needed |
|---|---|
| Bedroom and wardrobe dismantling and assembly | Kitchen removal and refitting |
| Film, blankets and boxes | AC removal and installation per unit |
| Loading and unloading | Winch for upper floors |
| Truck, driver and road | Dabab for the last stretch in narrow lanes |
| Placing items in their rooms | Premium packing, storage, cleaning after the move |
Winch and upper floors
Many buildings in older Jeddah districts such as Al Aziziyah, Al Sharafiyah and Al Baghdadiyah, and in Makkah districts such as Al Aziziyah, Al Zaher and Al Awali, have no lift or one too small for a wardrobe or sofa. A winch lifts furniture from the street straight to a balcony or window. It needs space in front of the building and an opening that can be cleared, which we confirm from photos of the façade and stairs.
Seasons and timing
- Hajj season: vehicle access to Makkah is specially organised in the run-up to Hajj and during it, so we advise completing the move before those arrangements start or after they end.
- Ramadan: heavy crowds near the Haram, especially in the last ten nights; mornings are easier.
- Umrah peaks and school holidays: busier expressway, longer days.
- End of the month: leases end and demand jumps, so book early.
- Summer: Makkah is very hot, so we start early and prefer a closed truck.
Insurance, storage and cleaning
Insurance on valuable items is available on request. If your Jeddah lease ends before the Makkah flat is ready, we store the furniture in a closed warehouse and deliver on your date, priced by volume and duration. Cleaning of the new flat before arrival, or of the old Jeddah flat after it is emptied, can be added as an optional service.
Weather between Jeddah and Makkah
Jeddah is humid; Makkah is hotter and drier. Furniture loaded in humid air and shut in a hot truck can hold moisture, especially mattresses and fabric sofas, so we open the covers on arrival and never leave mattresses sealed for long. Rain is rare but can come suddenly and heavily, pooling in Makkah’s low streets; we would rather wait an hour than carry furniture in through a downpour.
Sending urgent items by air
This route does not need air freight: the furniture itself arrives the same day, and there are no flights between Jeddah and Makkah. If a document, key or small device must reach Makkah urgently before moving day, a courier between the two cities delivers it within hours. Anyone moving from Makkah to a distant city can send urgent boxes as domestic air cargo via King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah, charged on actual or volumetric weight (L × W × H ÷ 6000), whichever is higher.
Worked examples

- Jeddah: three-bedroom flat, third floor in Al Rawdah, small lift.
- Makkah: second-floor flat in Al Shawqiyah with a wide lift.

- Vehicle and crew: medium closed truck, four movers and a carpenter.
- Time: started at 8 am, assembly finished around 7 pm.
- Price: from SAR 1,400, with the two ACs added per unit.
A student moving near Umm Al-Qura University
- Items: single bed, small wardrobe, desk, mini fridge, ten boxes.
- Vehicle: pickup or small dyna with two movers.
- Time: about four hours from Jeddah to assembly in Al Abidiyah.
- Price: from SAR 560.
Checklist before moving day
- Send the Makkah location and a photo of the street and entrance, especially on a slope.
- Ask the Makkah building management when the lift may be used.
- Empty and unplug the fridge hours ahead and dry the washer.
- Keep gold, cash, documents and medicines in your car.
- No gas cylinder in the truck.
- Pack a first-night bag: clothes, chargers, toiletries.
- Confirm the keys, power and water at the new home.
Avoiding the too-low offer, and other mistakes
Very low “move to Makkah” prices are common on this route. Ask: does it include dismantling and assembly or transport only? Is packing included? Does the crew enter Makkah or drop at the entrance? What if the street needs a dabab? Offers that dodge these questions usually grow once your furniture is on the truck.
- Treating the short distance lightly and leaving packing to the morning.
- Not checking the Makkah street, so a big truck meets a lane it cannot enter.
- Booking at the height of a season without allowing for traffic.
- Not measuring the new kitchen wall before taking the old kitchen down.
- Leaving mattresses sealed in plastic for days after arrival.
