Furniture Moving from Jeddah to NEOM | Permit Coordination with Your Employer and Delivery to Sharma, Gayal and Duba
At Al Saif we handle furniture moving from Jeddah to NEOM for people whose work has taken them to the NEOM area and its nearby towns such as Sharma, Gayal and Duba. We dismantle and pack your furniture in Jeddah, prepare the load and its inventory for the gates of residential and work sites, drive it about 1,100 km in a closed truck, then unload and assemble it at the address your employer gives you or at your own rented home. Driving takes around 12 to 14 hours with rests, and the whole job runs two to three days. A room or small load starts from SAR 1,400 and a 2–3 bedroom apartment from SAR 2,300; volume, floors and distance raise the price. Send us the details through our quote request page.

Furniture moving from Jeddah to NEOM: who it is for
Most people asking about this route are employees, engineers or technicians whose employer has moved them to the NEOM area, or families joining them once they are settled. Often the employer’s housing is partly furnished, so there is no need to move a whole home, just a bedroom or a desk, boxes of clothes and books, and a few appliances. Other families rent a house in Duba or Sharma and bring everything.
So our first questions are: what exactly are you moving, and where exactly to? The answers decide the truck size, whether a shared load will work, and whether we need to coordinate with your employer before arrival.
Entry permits and working with your employer
Access to some residential and work sites in the area requires a prior permit for the truck, driver and crew. It is issued through the receiver’s employer, not the moving company, under the regulations in force. Well before loading day we ask you for:
- the name of the department arranging the permit and the contact number of its housing or site coordinator;
- the truck, driver and crew details, which we send to you or straight to the coordinator;
- the date and gate for entry, since some sites set unloading hours;
- an inventory in Arabic and English, which the gate may ask for, with some boxes possibly opened.
If your home is in Duba or Sharma outside any controlled site, all you need is a convenient time and somewhere for the truck to park, as with any normal move.
The route: up the coast to Duba, then north
On most trips we take the coast road: north from Jeddah to Rabigh and Yanbu, then Umluj, Al Wajh and Duba. From Duba the truck continues north along the coast towards Sharma, Gayal and the surrounding sites. The road is steady with regular fuel and rest stops, and we usually stop overnight in Al Wajh or Umluj.
The inland alternative goes via Madinah and north to Tabuk, then west to Sharma. We use it when there is a pickup in Madinah or a drop in Tabuk, or when coastal winds are strong. Both routes have routine security checkpoints between regions, which the driver clears with his papers and the load list.

Approximate distances
| From Jeddah to | Approx. distance | Truck driving time |
|---|---|---|
| Yanbu | about 330 km | 3.5–4.5 hours |
| Umluj | about 480 km | 5.5–6.5 hours |
| Al Wajh | about 640 km | 7–8 hours |
| Duba | about 820 km | 9–10.5 hours |
| Sharma area | about 920 km | 10.5–12 hours |
| Gayal and farther sites | up to about 1,100 km | 12–14 hours |
| Tabuk (inland route) | about 1,000 km | 11–13 hours |
The final distance depends on the site you are going to, and we price on the actual address.
Prices for furniture moving from Jeddah to NEOM
| Load | Price | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Room or small load | from SAR 1,400 | suits partly furnished housing |
| 2–3 bedroom apartment | from SAR 2,300 | medium closed truck |
| 4–5 bedroom home | from SAR 3,500 | large truck and crew |
| Villa | from SAR 6,500 | confirmed after inspection |
The base price includes dismantling, packing, loading, transport, unloading and assembly. Added only when needed: fitted kitchen from SAR 370, winch in Jeddah from SAR 280, AC removal in Jeddah from SAR 140 per unit. Waiting time at a gate because a permit was not ready may be charged, which is why we sort the permit before departure. The final price follows a free inspection or your photos. What drives the cost: the size of the load, the exact destination (Duba is nearer than Sharma, Sharma nearer than Gayal and some sites), a fixed gate time that needs a dedicated truck, the number of drop points, and upper floors without a lift in Jeddah.
Shared load or dedicated truck?
For an employee moving a bedroom and some boxes, sharing a truck with other customers bound for Duba, Tabuk and the area saves a lot. One caution: if your site requires entry at a set hour, a shared truck may not hit that hour because it is unloading for others too. In that case we suggest a small dedicated truck, or receiving your goods in a nearby town such as Duba and moving them on as your employer arranges. For a complete home, a dedicated truck is the obvious choice. Either way, furniture travels in closed trucks; coastal humidity, sand and sun are no friend to an open one.
Timeline
- Day 1: dismantling, packing and numbering in Jeddah, a bilingual inventory, loading in the afternoon.
- Evening of day 1: departure and overnight stop in Umluj or Al Wajh.
- Day 2: on to Duba and then Sharma or the site, unloading within the permitted hours.
- Day 2 or 3: assembly, which can run longer if gate hours are short.
Packing for a long, humid coastal run
Most of the trip follows the sea, and humid, salty air affects metal and untreated wood. Appliances and metal items go into sealed bags, a cloth layer sits between wood and plastic, and books and crockery go into double-wall boxes, since thin cardboard softens in damp air.

Bedrooms and desks are fully dismantled with fittings in numbered bags. Electronics go back into their original boxes where you have them, or into padded cartons. Clothes travel on rails in wardrobe boxes so they arrive uncreased. Every box is numbered and labelled with the receiver’s name, employer and destination, which makes checking at the gate quick.
Items a gate is likely to inspect, such as electronics boxes, are loaded near the doors so the whole truck does not have to be emptied for one carton. Heavy pieces go against the front wall, each row is strapped, and blankets sit between items.

Pickup in Jeddah, delivery in the area
In Jeddah we collect from Al Rawdah, Al Khalidiyah, Al Nahdah and Al Zahra in the centre and north-west, from Obhur North, Al Shera’a and Al Yaqout in the far north, from Al Samer, Al Manar and Al Ajwad in the east, and from Al Faisaliyah, Al Aziziyah and Al Ruwais near the centre. We deliver to Duba town, to Sharma and Gayal, to residential and work sites named by your employer once the permit is issued, and to Tabuk for those who live there and work in the area.
Assembly, insurance and storage
The carpenter travelling with the load dismantles in Jeddah and rebuilds at the destination. In employer housing we follow the housing rules for walls and floors and do not drill or fix anything to a wall without your approval and the housing’s. Beds, desks and wardrobes are assembled and every piece goes to the room you choose. Insurance for valuable pieces is available on request as a separate quote line. Storage is common on this route: the employee goes ahead to temporary housing while the family waits for permanent accommodation. We keep the furniture wrapped and numbered in Jeddah and send it when the home is ready, priced by volume and duration.
Weather on the road and at the destination
Summer on the coast is hot, so we load in the morning and keep appliances away from the hot front of the box. On some days strong northerly winds carry sand along the coast between Al Wajh, Duba and beyond, and the driver slows down or stops. Winter is mild on the coast but colder on the high ground inland, with occasional showers; the closed truck protects the load.
Sending urgent items by air
An employee who starts work before the truck arrives usually needs a laptop, papers and some clothes. We send these as domestic air cargo from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah to Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Airport in Tabuk in 1–2 days, then on by road. Depending on available flights, items can also go to NEOM Bay Airport near Sharma. The charge is based on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher, where volumetric weight = length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000. Send sizes and weights through the quote page. Furniture travels by road.
Worked example: an engineer moving from Al Rawdah to housing in Sharma
An engineer living in a two-bedroom flat in Al Rawdah has been posted to the area. His employer’s housing in Sharma already has a bed and a fridge, so he moves only what is missing: an extra bedroom for his son, a desk and chair, a bookcase, a TV, a washer, about 25 boxes and a bicycle. A week ahead, we send the truck, driver and crew details to the housing coordinator; the permit is issued with a morning entry slot. Because the gate time is fixed, we use a small dedicated closed truck. Loading is in the afternoon, the truck stops overnight in Al Wajh and reaches Sharma on time the next morning. A small load starts from SAR 1,400, slightly more here for a dedicated truck on a fixed slot. His laptop and work files flew to Tabuk two days before loading, so he started work without waiting.
Checklist
- Contact your employer about the permit as soon as the date is set, and give us the coordinator’s number.
- Ask about permitted unloading hours and whether the building has a lift.
- Separate what you are moving from what the new housing already has.
- Carry your ID, documents, gold and medicines yourself.
- Keep gas, fuel and large loose batteries out of the truck.
- Empty and dry the fridge a day early if it is coming.
Common mistakes
- Setting off before the permit is issued and waiting at the gate.
- Moving a full home into furnished housing without checking the space.
- Choosing a shared load when the site has a fixed gate time.
- Arriving without a clear bilingual inventory.
- Mounting TVs or shelves in employer housing without permission.
How it works
- Send your item list or photos, your Jeddah address and the destination.
- We set the truck and crew and send the quote and permit details.
- Your employer issues the permit and we agree the date.
- Dismantling, packing, numbering and loading.
- The drive via the coast or Tabuk, with updates from us.
- Unloading, assembly and a check against the inventory.
Moving back to Jeddah
We also move in the opposite direction, from Duba, Sharma, Gayal and Tabuk to Jeddah, and on to Madinah, Riyadh and other cities when a contract ends or a job moves. Request your quote through the quote request page and give us the exact location.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a permit for the truck to enter my housing site?
Some residential and work sites in the area require a prior permit arranged by the receiver's employer; we send the truck, driver and crew details to the coordinator.
How far is the NEOM area from Jeddah?
About 1,100 km depending on the site; Duba is about 820 km and Sharma about 920 km.
How long does a move from Jeddah to Sharma take?
Two to three days: loading on day one, an overnight stop in Al Wajh or Umluj, then delivery and assembly.
My employer housing is partly furnished. What does a small move cost?
A small load starts from SAR 1,400, a little more if you need a dedicated truck for a fixed gate slot.
Does a shared load work for sites with fixed entry times?
Not always, since a shared truck also unloads for others; we suggest a small dedicated truck or receiving in Duba.
Do you deliver to Duba and Gayal?
Yes, to Duba, Sharma, Gayal and sites named by your employer, and to Tabuk as well.
Why prepare the inventory in Arabic and English?
Some gates ask for it and may open boxes; a clear list and numbered boxes make checking quick.
Will you mount TVs in employer housing?
Only with your approval and the housing management's, following their rules for walls and floors.
How can I get my laptop and work files there first?
By air from Jeddah to Tabuk airport in 1–2 days, or to NEOM Bay Airport when flights allow, charged on actual or volumetric weight.
Can you store my furniture in Jeddah until permanent housing is ready?
Yes, wrapped and numbered until you call for it, priced by volume and duration.
Which road does the truck take?
Usually the coast via Yanbu, Umluj and Al Wajh to Duba and north, or inland via Tabuk when there is a stop there.
