Furniture Moving from Jeddah to Sabt Al Alaya | Town and Balqarn Village Delivery with Dismantling, Packing & Assembly
Many of the homes we move to Sabt Al Alaya belong to Balqarn families who spent years in Jeddah and decided to return home, or to employees posted to the governorate. At Muasasat Al Saif we handle furniture moving from Jeddah to Sabt Al Alaya over roughly 550 km: we dismantle, pack and load in Jeddah, the truck covers the mountain road in about 7.5–9.5 hours with rest stops, and we deliver to your house in town or out in the village and reassemble everything. A room or small load starts from SAR 1,020 and a 2–3 bedroom flat from SAR 1,850, rising with volume, floors and the distance to your village. Send photos and your location through the quote request page for the final price.

Furniture moving from Jeddah to Sabt Al Alaya: what the job looks like
Sabt Al Alaya is the seat of Balqarn governorate in northern Asir, between Al Baha, Abha and Bisha, on high ground surrounded by mountains, valleys and farms. The town itself is easy to reach, but much of the population lives in scattered villages and hamlets whose roads range from wide asphalt to narrow farm tracks. So the first question we ask before quoting is not how many rooms you have but exactly where the house is, and whether a truck can drive to it. After that the move usually runs over two days: dismantling, packing and loading in Jeddah, an early start the next morning, arrival after midday, and unloading and assembly into the evening.
The road from Jeddah to Sabt Al Alaya

Via Taif, Al Baha and Baljurashi
The usual route climbs to Taif by the Al Sail road, then runs south along the Sarawat road through Al Baha and Baljurashi before turning towards Balqarn and Sabt Al Alaya. The big climb ends at Taif; after that it is a mountain road with bends, villages and regular fuel stations, and it needs calm driving, especially in fog.
Via the plateau and Bisha
For heavy loads and trailers the driver may take Taif, Turabah and Bisha, entering Sabt Al Alaya from the east. It is longer, but easier on a large truck because there are fewer sharp bends.
Stops and checkpoints
The driver rests and checks straps at Taif and again midway along the Sarawat road, and passes the usual regional checkpoints with the inventory and owner details. We do not plan to enter mountain roads after sunset; if loading in Jeddah runs late, the truck stays overnight and leaves at dawn.

Packing for a mountain road and a cold climate

Furniture leaves Jeddah’s humidity for air that is dry, mild in summer and cold in winter, along a road of constant bends. Wood is wrapped in blankets or cardboard before film so moisture does not condense and pieces do not rub. Mattresses and cushions go into sealed bags because highland rain can surprise you during unloading. Glass and mirrors stand upright in fitted cartons with protected corners. A box with the heater, blankets and bedding rides at the back so it comes off first on a winter night, and boxes are labelled by room in the new house, with one for coffee and tea things, since visitors back home tend to arrive on the first day.
Loading in Jeddah and transferring at the village

Heavy items go to the front, then sofas, then boxes, with straps per row. When we know the load will move to a small dyna at the start of a village road, we load in reverse: whatever goes into the house first sits near the rear door, so we never empty the whole truck onto the ground before the transfer. We agree the transfer point with you in advance, whether it is the square by the village mosque, a lay-by on the main road or level ground near the farm. If it rains during the transfer, we cover the load and wait, because dirt roads turn slippery. Closed trucks carry all household furniture; an open truck with a tarp is for yard furniture, metal and farm equipment. A full load suits a family returning home; a shared load suits a student or single employee and leaves once the truck fills with loads for Balqarn and Al Namas.
Pickup areas in Jeddah, destinations in Balqarn
We collect from Al Rabwah, Al Safa, Al Marwah, Al Salamah, Al Naseem, Al Faisaliyah, Al Rehab, Mushrifah, Al Jamiah, Quwaizah, Al Amir Fawaz, Al Muntazahat, Obhur, Al Hamdaniyah, Al Samer and Al Yaqout, and deliver to central Sabt Al Alaya and the market area, the villages and hamlets of Balqarn, Bani Amr, Al Namas and Tanomah, and Baljurashi, with Bisha on request.
What is included, insurance and storage
Bedrooms, wardrobes and tables are dismantled and rebuilt with numbered screw bags; floor-seating majlis sets are laid out the way you want; kitchens are removed by a carpenter in Jeddah and measured before refitting. Storage, insurance and post-move cleaning are separate, on request. Insurance on valuables is agreed before loading. Many family houses need repairs before anyone moves in, so if the house is not ready we store the wrapped furniture until the work is done, priced by volume and duration.
Weather on the road and in Balqarn
Summers in Sabt Al Alaya are mild and winters cold, with sharp night chills. Rain usually comes in the afternoon in its season, and fog covers parts of the Sarawat road on some days. We aim to arrive before late afternoon, pause unloading in heavy rain, and never leave electronics in the truck on a cold night. In Jeddah, a loaded truck is not left waiting in the summer midday sun.
Sending urgent items by air
If you need some boxes before the furniture arrives, we send them as domestic air cargo from Jeddah to whichever airport suits your location, such as Bisha or Abha, arriving in one to two days, for you to collect or for us to arrange onward delivery. They are charged on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher (length × width × height in cm ÷ 6000). The furniture goes by road.
Worked example: a family returning from Al Rabwah to a Balqarn village
A retired father moving from a four-room floor in Al Rabwah back to the family house in a village a short drive from Sabt Al Alaya, along a narrow farm road: two bedrooms, two children’s rooms, a large floor majlis, a living room, kitchen, two ACs and around 50 boxes. A closed truck from Jeddah plus a small support dyna from Sabt Al Alaya; five movers and a carpenter. Day one: packing and loading until mid-afternoon, truck overnight. Day two: dawn departure, arrival at the transfer point after midday, two dyna runs to the house and bedrooms rebuilt. Day three: kitchen, majlis and the rest. From SAR 2,600, with the support vehicle and ACs added after inspection.
Checklist, mistakes and steps
- Send the house location on the map, and photos of the access road if you can; pick a wide spot nearby where the large truck can stop.
- Prepare the village house: power, water and clean rooms. Clear out what you will not need before packing.
- Keep gold, cash, documents and medicines with you; no gas cylinders in the truck.
- Avoid assuming the large truck reaches the door, leaving the town-to-village distance out of your request, moving into an old house before repairs end, and leaving Jeddah in the evening so the mountain road is driven at night.
Our steps: photos and location through the quote page, a decision on vehicles and whether a support dyna is needed with price and date, packing and loading in Jeddah, the drive with an arrival update, then unloading, reassembly and a joint check.
