Furniture moving in Al Aidabi: what is different about farm homes
A farm home in Al Aidabi is rarely a single building. There is usually the main house, an outdoor majlis for guests, a room or shed for tools, and sometimes an annex for one of the sons. On inspection we walk all of it, because a customer may say “three rooms” and on the day we find a full outdoor majlis with floor cushions, armrests and a large water cooler.
So we ask up front for a list of what goes and what stays. A farm store may hold tools, drums, a small pump and fertiliser bags. Some of that we move once cleaned and wrapped; some never travels with furniture, such as pesticides and fuel. Sorting it saves space in the truck and money on the bill.
What we leave on the farm
Live beehives do not travel with furniture — they need a separate night-time move by the beekeeper. Large potted plants should be left to someone who knows how to replant them; small ones can go in a separate wanet. Bags of harvested coffee can ride in the cab or a separate pickup, away from cleaning products and kitchen items.

What really changes the bill
- Buildings, not rooms: a three-room house with an outdoor majlis and a store is bigger than a three-room flat.
- The farm track: if it is unpaved or lined with trees, a wanet covers the last stretch.
- Distance: Al Aidabi to Balghazi is not the same job as Al Aidabi to Sabya or Abu Arish.
- Heavy pieces: old timber chests, solid-wood beds and marble tables.
- Add-ons: kitchen, AC, winch and storage.
- Date: month-end, the run-up to school, and before family occasions fill up fast.
Areas we cover
| Area | Housing | How we work there |
|---|---|---|
| Al Aidabi town | Traditional homes, modern villas, shops | A closed dyna usually reaches the door |
| Balghazi centre | Villages and farms | We ask about the farm road and bring a wanet if needed |
| Ri’ Masidah centre | Villages closer to the foothills | Lighter loads for the bends, more time on the road |
| Higher villages towards Bani Malik and Al Reeth | Hillside homes and coffee farms | Two-stage move if the dyna cannot reach |
| West: Sabya and Damad | Towns on Highway 5 | Inter-governorate move priced by distance |
| South: Abu Arish and Al Aridhah | Towns and villages | Inter-governorate move priced by distance |
Choosing the vehicle
Most Al Aidabi moves use two vehicles rather than one: a closed dyna for furniture, and a wanet for appliances, farm-store items or the last stretch of farm track. Splitting them keeps dusty tools from ending up next to mattresses and sofas. A dabab suits one or two pieces going to a nearby house; an open dyna works for sturdy furniture over a short distance on a clear day; a closed dyna is right for houses, villas and anything with fabric sofas and electronics.

We load heavy appliances first, then dismantled wardrobes, with mattresses upright along the sides and the majlis items at the back, since they usually go to a separate building. Each row is strapped before the next one goes in.
Packing against dust and mud
In farming villages the wind brings dust, and after rain there is mud on shoes and wheels. We cover floors at the new home with board or plastic before anything comes in, and we wrap sofas and cushions in moving blankets and stretch plastic, seal mattresses in full bags, protect screens and glass with bubble wrap and a rigid frame, pack kitchenware in small cartons with glass wrapped piece by piece, and give coffee pots, incense burners and heritage pieces their own box.

Every carton is labelled with the room or the building — house, majlis, store — so it lands in the right place without the crew asking each time.
Dismantling and assembly
Solid-wood beds and wardrobes are common in older Al Aidabi homes: heavy and strong, but with old joints. The carpenter takes them apart gently, replaces stripped screws when needed and bags fixings with each piece. If a wardrobe was built to fit a wall, we measure the new wall first.
Kitchens are taken down after water and gas are disconnected, wall units first, with stone counters protected by a board in transit. Kitchen dismantling and installation starts from SAR 370.

Assembly follows what the family needs on the first night — bedroom and kitchen — then the other rooms, then the outdoor majlis. The technician refits AC units the same day if the house is ready, from SAR 110 per unit.
Small jobs: one appliance or two pieces
Not every move is a whole house. Many requests here are a new fridge from a shop in town to a village home, a bed and wardrobe for a son moving into an annex, or a washer going to relatives. A dabab from SAR 45 handles light pieces and a wanet from SAR 140 handles heavy appliances, with one or two men carrying the item inside and setting it in place. Fridges travel upright and strapped and should rest a few hours before being switched on.
Two-storey villas and the winch
Newer villas in town sometimes have two floors and a narrow or winding internal stair. A winch is safer than bringing sofas down that stair. It starts from SAR 185 and needs level ground in front of the villa and a window or roof opening for the pieces. Single-storey rural homes rarely need one.
Included and added
Included in the base price: crew and dyna, bedroom dismantling and assembly, standard wrapping, placing items in the rooms and removing packing waste. Added on request: a second wanet for the store or the farm track, kitchen and AC, winch, VIP packing, storage and cleaning.
Worked example: a Balghazi farm annex to a villa in town
A newly married son moves with his small family from an annex on the family farm in Balghazi to a small single-storey villa in Al Aidabi town. They have a full bedroom, a children’s room, a majlis with Arabic floor seating, a small aluminium kitchen, two ACs and some store items.
- Vehicles: closed dyna for the furniture; wanet for the store items and the final dirt stretch.
- Crew: supervisor, carpenter, three movers, AC technician.
- Timing: early start, loading done before noon, assembly finished by sunset.
- Price: two rooms from 420 + wanet from 140 + kitchen from 370 + two ACs from 220 = from SAR 1,150.
If they skip the old kitchen and buy a new one, the total starts from SAR 780.
How moving day runs
- We receive photos of the house, annexes and road, or inspect on site.
- We send an itemised quote and fix vehicles and crew.
- On arrival we confirm with you what goes and what stays on the farm.
- Dismantling, wrapping and labelling by building and room.
- Orderly loading and strapping.
- Transport, unloading and floor protection.
- Assembly, AC and kitchen.
- Final walk-through and waste removal.
Checklist before the move
- Mark the farm-store items that are staying behind.
- Keep pesticides, fuel and open fertiliser bags away from the furniture.
- Empty the wardrobes and pack a first-night bag.
- Switch off and clean the fridge the night before.
- Make sure the farm road is open and the gate is wide enough.
- Check that the new home has power and water.
Things that stay out of the furniture truck
Gold, jewellery and cash; official documents, farm deeds and contracts; medicines, particularly refrigerated ones; gas cylinders unless sealed and kept apart; farm pesticides, fuel and anything flammable; and live beehives.
Seasons and good times to move
Summer in Al Aidabi is hot on the plain and milder in the higher villages, so we start early to keep loading out of the midday heat. The rainy season can turn farm tracks to mud, so we prefer to leave a day after rain before moving. During harvest, farming families are busy, and we fit the date around the family’s day. Month-end and the weeks before school are high-demand periods; in Ramadan we work mornings, or after taraweeh for small jobs.
The cheap quote that ends up costing more
Some movers quote low because they counted rooms only and never saw the outdoor majlis or the store. On the day they ask for more or leave half the things behind. Before accepting any price, check it states the crew size, vehicle type, dismantling and wrapping, which buildings are covered and who is liable for breakage. To pay less, get rid of what you do not need, sort the store yourself and avoid month-end.
Storage if you need it
If the new home is still being finished, we store furniture short-term on request, wrapped, numbered and listed piece by piece, priced by volume and duration, then deliver and assemble it when the house is ready.
Cleaning before hand-over or after arrival
Cleaning of the old or new house is available as a separate add-on — useful in farmhouses where dust builds up behind furniture.
Mistakes we help customers avoid
- Forgetting the outdoor majlis and the store when asking for a price.
- Loading dusty farm tools in the same box as mattresses.
- Moving on a rainy day over a dirt track.
- Not measuring a wall-fitted wardrobe against the new room.
- Packing coffee or honey next to cleaning products.
Moving from Al Aidabi to other cities
We move from Al Aidabi to Sabya, Damad, Abu Arish, Jazan and Al Aridhah, and on to Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jeddah and Riyadh. Intercity moves are priced separately by distance and volume, using a closed dyna or truck with the load tied down for the foothill roads. Send your photos through the quote request page for a detailed price for your furniture moving in Al Aidabi.
